  1. Disagree. In my opinion, If passholders went to the soft open expecting zero issues or stoppages they need to reassess their expectations. In my opinion, If they didn't offer this opportunity to passholders, a lot of folk wouldn't be in the park when they needed those test audiences - then you end up having your stress test in front of all the cameras instead of a few days prior.
  2. Are the reviews in this thread going to move over to the reviews thread or is it ok to post reviews in this one?
  3. Honestly their pre-covid plans were a little yawn worthy at best and some of them were downright stupid. All that said, for an industry in recovery, i'm not sure a revamped kids land is going to be the big ticket they need to keep folks hyped. Another marquee is probably needed. That's as much theme park boiler plate as 'excuse our mess' and 'this attraction has been closed to make way for an exciting new attraction' See also "in the coming weeks" and "Coming Summer Easter Next Year Soon"
  4. it's not on track and it doesn't work. It's no more 'returned' than it was 3 months ago. I guess this confirms that it was getting a paintjob when we saw pics of the cowlings and cab on a truck a while back.
  5. Judging by the rankings of each launch, it sounds like the first launch doesn't impart all that much energy - I wonder how fast it could go if it just went backwards\forwards instead of the triple? (I acknowledge the first 'backwards' probably won't get all the launch track, i'm just curious how it would go if it did)
  6. From what i've been hearing, folks at the front gate are telling people it's open.
  7. Last time I checked they do this deal where you give them $199 and they give you one.
  8. The slides caused an injury which shouldn't have happened. The fact its been closed this long points to either a fight between WWW and Polin, or a redesign of the slides involved. Either way that takes a while to sort out.
  9. Given the trains and track designs are pretty much identical - how long before someone notices a 'rattle' ? 🤣
  10. Perhaps you just need to be more observant? It was even on the Dreamworld website in March 2020 - Prior to the pandemic closures: (this is the most recent wayback machine update after the ride opened).
  11. Can confirm SV has had a weight limit on it's signage since opening day. I have not ever seen anyone being asked to stand on scales though.
  12. I'm gonna buck the trend and say I think all this is better than what they had. It could be better, but this is overall an improvement. My guess is the blank wall is 'display space' that will be filled in the future. I would hazard a guess a large lego model would sit there with an appropriate background wall art, but just isn't ready to go in yet.
  13. This is pretty much WHY they do a 'soft open'. Passholders might be disappointed, but are most likely to have other opportunities to ride later if things go pear shaped. The last thing you want to do is debut on boxing day with capacity crowd and have to shut down on the 27th because something didn't work the way you thought it would.
  14. You know, they could just operate the beer taps they've got in Tiger Island. Whatever they served wasn't a bad drop... wasn't it Kirin or something?
  15. Will there be seats? in the shade? Honestly i'm not sure they need another function area. Even if it does take the form of a microbrewery. Even if it's wonderfully themed already... They've already got food service spaces in Tiger Island and Parkway that are almost always shuttered, and a 'conference centre' used sporadically for major events only - and i'm sure that it would take a fair bit to convert the station house into such a facility - i'm positive it would be better spent elsewhere. Dreamworld's ride lineup is currently undersubscribed and new food and beverage or function areas are not and should not be a priority.
  16. Sadly necessarily unfortunately. Despite making that so freaking loud, and having a host at entry also checking, there are still regular occurrences of people either at group or load who are found to have loose items...
  17. I do get a 'funny or die' Warburton Coaster video vibe from this, but falling short of the mark. It's a decent effort, and while not necessarily the same level, its similar enough to the Sky Voyager video to compliment both nicely. Now they need to commission similar videos across the park for all their majors and it will really fit the show.
  18. Despite my aversion to polls on the forums - i feel as though this thread (spelled correctly) would benefit from a poll either 'would you pay' or 'how much would you pay'... much like DC Rivals i'd pay it at least once in the early visits, again whenever i was riding with a first time rider for their experience, and any time i'm dropping in quickly, and the queue is too long.
  19. In my opinion, combatting the misinformation about first the virus, and then the vaccine is an even bigger battle than the virus itself. I personally find it appalling that someone would actively choose not to be vaccinated but I respect their choice to do so - however I can’t stand idly by while someone spouts baseless and unsupported “alternative facts” without challenge. They may have chosen not to, but to allow them to spread misinformation and make broad generalised statements that potentially instil doubt into others because they don’t know any better is wrong and should not go unchecked without rebuttal. The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.
  20. loser on the podium still gets paid. i'm fine with that.
  21. Announced today? Imma claim silver medal for picking the announcement date. haha.
  22. is that a hint though or is it just emphasis because some view the trains as being the only thing at the park that matters?
  23. I guess it depends on if you're talking about home show \ motor show \ comic-con style conventions, where you just want a big empty box for stall holders to set up their own products the way they want them, or the smaller style 'corporate convention' where a company gathers their top people together for some kool-aid and kum-bay-yah team building activities. Given he's quoted as it being for 1000 people, not 10,000 people, my guess is it's the latter. Think of it more akin to hotel banquet halls (school formals, corporate AGMs) with associated breakout spaces and team-building areas.
  24. Did someone get lazy with the path builder? Paths to nowhere? Curiously, a complete absence of the Lego logo on the store re-ignites conspiracies about the store... FInally the absence of Flowrider near Gold Coaster's entrance makes it look like part of the map is missing.
  25. Did somebody over-estimate the amount of 50th anniversary merch they would sell during a pandemic?
