  1. I haven't - i was taking my lead from the fact that Hong Kong Disneyland had to station cast out front of Space Mountain to tell everyone it was a roller coaster - in fact the whole park as originally opened was based on the local chinese not being big fans of high thrill attractions - not realising how much attendance they'd get from foreign regions was their misfortune. If the chinese are into it though, maybe we do need a twin track...
  2. i did post an overall site view in the nearmap thread last week. still earthworks but some footings in and plenty of slide pieces nearby stacked up and ready to go.
  3. Going by the usual demographics of the place, they could probably handle it. Although busy, Scenic World's core is primary school groups and chinese tourists - neither of which are likely to be riding an alpine coaster in any great numbers... Then again, without that core ridership, it probably wouldn't be worth building it.
  4. Thats what you said about the last one (and this goes down in Parkz infamy along with fire eyes, getting on in years, in the coming weeks, SkeetaFrogs and so on and so forth.
  5. No, it says 'best'. I haven't been on most of these, so if I were to pick only from what i've been on (and could therefore consider making my favourite) i'd only be tossing up between Tornado at WnW and Green Room at WWW. Out of the two, Tornado would win just as its more visually exciting to look at, although Green Room would earn bonus points for not needing to carry the raft. The green room theme was clever, but it didn't execute well, and it's like they purchased the default scheme of 'go away green' because it was cheaper. If I were to pick based on what I know (the tornado experience is much the same everywhere, so its what you've done to 'plus' it that counts) then neither of the GC options comes close. Perfect storm for me takes it - a long layout prior to the funnel, they plussed it by adding mini tornados along the route as well as the enclosure of the funnel and added AV effects, and given Kraken was the 'longest' at the time of opening at 270m, this 280m model breaks that as well. Contrast to Storm's next door neighbour - Funnel Web, despite the awesome spider sculpture - for me is ruined by the long uninspired length. It's like they needed both slides to start at the same point for convenience, so they just 'autocompleted' the layout between the start and the splashdown. The layout (and from POVs) doesn't appear to be very inspiring or thrilling, and since the funnel is the payoff with nothing else in between, i'd rather they just got on with it - Tornado and Green Room both beat Funnel Web, purely because they get on with the job, and they don't feel like i'm living in 'Pleasantville Monochrome'. I didn't set out to knife Kraken in this, but as I wrote Funnel Web above, I realised that much the same factors and issues applied to Kraken in the same way, so they can share the spot - i'll put Kraken a step above purely for the colours used.
  6. And according to you, Tinsel is nasty to look at, given the alternative?
  7. They went to the current loco to save fuel costs didn't they? Why have another tractor waste fuel? make them self powered...
  8. I mean - i'm the first one to pour shit on Adventure World because I love fishing and it always gets a bite... ...but did you leave out Kraken? And does themeing come into it or are we just purely talking about layout and ride experience?
  9. That's basically a Vekoma Boomerang layout that you only get to do one-way - so therefore twice as bad!
  10. Hold my beer and watch this.... looks like something out of Action Park. lol
  11. surely that radius is a bit too tight? i did notice in recent photos though that the pathway between MDMC and GD looked like it wouldn't accommodate the train so this new direction is interesting. I do hope they grade it sufficiently, and don't lose too much space from the hairpin.
  12. That's another beef I have with the western world. So concerned about freedom and privacy that mass temperature screening isn't just a 'lack of technology' issue - it's a public relations issue. At the start of covid, an organisation I am familiar with purchased contact-free thermometers to assist their wellness teams - but they came with strict instructions that they weren't allowed to be used to 'screen staff' prior to commencing work - they were only able to be used for a person who was already complaining of feeling unwell... which to me is shutting the gate after the horse has bolted.
  13. The thread behind that article gives further info: Also interesting in the same reply was the following: That didn't age well.
  14. What, and get rid of that awesome boat shed!?
  15. In terms of cut-price passes, wasn't it Village with the Q150 pass in 2008 where that race started? *eyeroll* in the coming weeks.
  16. government propaganda or not, they've got one thing over the western world...
  17. I was thinking SW myself - since the Spit height restrictions have apparently been relaxed, it'd be a great opportunity for them. Broadwater would be either local gov or standalone firm operation. It would stand on its own and need to pull people in on its own. Its possible, but low seasons would hurt. I don't see a problem with SW offering it and to be honest, they could also operate it outside of park hours as a standalone attraction with it's own separate entrance - perhaps even a dining experience to increase profits - the GC is the perfect place for those upcharge add-on experiences. (and you can sunwheel the damn thing into your laser lake show too) Looking at the sizes (and these scales are pretty close) I don't think it would realistically fit between seal theatre and the monorail, but the former Sea Viper site would be a good fit, with the added bonus of street access for an after hours gate.
  18. you know they're just gonna do the same thing they did with Rivals so they can shake rattle and roll...
  19. Interesting side point - I went onto Nearmap to see what the latest was for the station - and it seems (as usual) we're about a month behind. On August 4th - you can see the station structure is there, but not the roof, and the maintenance bay didn't even have track structure. But what I found most interesting is this: I guess I never really considered just how tight these corners were - and i've viewed these two curves from afar for a while, and just concluded they hadn't built track there yet, but now i'm looking at it closer, I can see just how high the bank angle is on these turns and they seem (near) vertical which looks pretty cool. I'm not too worried about opening dates yet. They've got around 3 months left, and all the bones are here (and this image is a month out of date). Let's see what the next updates look like. (Also there's definitely a nice square slab inside those turns with the makings of something going in there - maybe this will be some of the theming elements? *shrug* who knows.
  20. I appreciate your respectful response, and I do agree Taipan needs to breathe.. ...but I still think they need to crystallise their plans and show what is to come. Just to explain my thought process a bit further - You say the park needs to feel complete - but what they have currently isn't enough. You said it yourself. Although I realise you meant tidying up the park rather than any major install, I don't think boarding up half the pathways with red corrugated steel, and placing ride vehicles from defunct attractions outside for photo ops is the solution. I mean we don't even have the typical "excuse our mess while we prepare for our next exciting attraction!" signage on the hoarding. IMHO - I don't think they should patronise their guests by pretending the park in it's "soon to launch ST" state is in any way complete. The only way it can be complete in that state is if you've reached the RCT2 milestone required to complete the task and so you abandon any thought about the rest of the park you intended on building so you can move on and unlock the next mission. Pretending it is complete in it's current state is just insulting, again - in my opinion. That is why I feel they'd be better to reveal their next plans. Management have already discussed their next plans in vagaries back in April, and the likely lead time for any such investment. They must by now have something inked out that they could present in a footnote somewhere to show people they aren't resting on their laurels - like they did after Sky Voyager.
