  1. Actually now you mention it i'm not sure they have a steam train. It sure looks the part though.
  2. But if that multi million, multi national company decides that running a genuine steam train is too expensive, and shuts it down, and a bunch of volunteers put their hand up to keep it going - is that different? I don't think the volunteer suggestion has been that Dreamworld should rely on the free good will. Its more the volunteers asking to be permitted to do it because the park has chosen to otherwise not operate it. Dreamworld or Ginger Factory?
  3. To do that you need to double your qualified engineers so that you've got a qualified operator during lunch breaks. This is why the steam train used to shut down near the middle of the day for an hour. If you can get a volunteer operator crew (which is perfectly allowable and legal - volunteer operators run many steam trains around the country) then that does nothing to your costs, but you're a commercial operator and you should employ engineers - which is why they only have 1. Toot! Toot! Motherf**ker! Ok, so they haven't killed 4 people recently, but its an operational steam train located on an island nation a minimum 6-8 hour flight away for international tourists, has been devoid of said international tourists (and domestic ones) for a large part of 2 years.... so we're more than halfway there and i'd say that's pretty close! These guys even charge for a ride! it's not even free! And people pay it!
  4. Wow, they're keen. they haven't even begun laying the track for the new layout yet. This means they've only got until the end of January to make it work!
  5. So your position is based on assumption of some ambiguous T&C wording. Even for F&B and Merch discounts there have always been exceptions - in-park carts without cash registers never offered or honoured pass discounts. I also can't imagine they'd discount animal experiences given their contributions of profits to the DWF either. So the fact that: Passholders get certain discounts in-park, and; "Tickets" for the spinning car will be sold in-park; =\= Passholders get a discount to ride. It'll be nice if they offer it, and of course it never hurts to ask, but I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is no.
  6. Does that mean you get discounts on animal interactions with tigers, dingoes and koalas? What about ride\slide express? do you get discounts on that?
  7. Anyone who knows the answer.... or @Naazon- you know, whoever is available. *shrug*
  8. its such a shame the gold coast council PDonline system is such a shitshow these days - depending on what they're putting in there may be some lodgments filed with them.
  9. what better opportunity to build an outdoor\open air version where they can reopen that experience to people without needing pesky indoor room limits then?
  10. *shrug* it worked for Arkham. The tiniest part of me says 'anyone could knock that up and pretend its real' but we've seen so much stuff confirmed by guest services without any official announcement, the lack of credibility doesn't even come into question!
  11. Yeah fair enough. Dreamworld, at one point, included the photo pass with every annual pass. (not sure if they still do). Village offers it as an add-on when you buy passes \ tickets online. The economics of it if you know how much a hard copy photo is is a no-brainer to add-on a $40 product at time of purchase. With the new VRTP app holding passes, tickets and vouchers, the photo pass is already on your phone. You can open the pass, and scan the barcode at any kiosk, anytime. All you have to do (once) is give them an email address for the activation email to be sent. You can do it on your first day at the ticket booths when you have the (mandatory) photo taken (or when accesso has inevitably stuffed something up, and you need to have your photo RE-taken). Once that is set up - before you've even entered the park, you can just scan your phone wherever you see a kiosk (or grab a wristband, which you can link to your phone at any time). I do agree though, an option to type it in would be nice - i think though that the barcode scanner idea is to reduce people queuing at the kiosk - every time the ride cycles, those photos all change, so if you don't get your email address typed in fast enough - what happens?
  12. yeah i know, but in the age of loose item policies and the like (see also: Superman), its closer to what you were asking for than the status quo. Pretty much the same system exists in Disney parks around the world too. I've used it successfully at both Hong Kong and California and they're far better value than individual $10 a pop photos. And you're being a bit OTT to talk about hoops. You don't have to prepurchase it - you can always pay afterwards, provided you used the (free to obtain, and available at ride exits) wristband. I'm sure you can also just purchase individual digitals if you like, and i'm sure they would probably be $10 each... but at $40 for a year, why would you?
  13. ^rivals on-ride video doesn't happen anymore. Photo only. And Village have the Fast Photo pass. Once activated, you can get a barcode on your VRTP app (or a linked wristband) and just scan the QR code at the kiosks and it automatically uploads to your Fast Photo pass account. I know dreamworld had this at one point as well, although this was pre-covid, so pre-app-with-ticketing-in-built and not sure if they've upgraded that.
  14. . Now you're just talking to yourself again. I honestly don't recall it being mentioned that there was only one spinner, but I DO remember talk about what if the spinning car isn't on track, so i guess I kinda do? Same as rivals? Guys! YOU CAN RIDE IT..... https://youtu.be/celXMa80JtM?t=6
  15. ETA: off peak, the backwards seat does dispatch empty quiet a lot from what i've seen - so maybe in offpeak they don't run the spinner at all? 😮
  16. I guess we all just assumed based on the fact that DCR had both trains backwards that ST would be the same. Its disappointing - i'm sure it was mentioned a while back that if it is only on one train, then when that train goes down for maintenance, they won't be able to offer that experience, but the slight increase to capacity, as well as the ability to ride the 'actual' back of the train for a different airtime experience as well makes for some good re-rideability as you can get a different experience at the 'very' back of the train. I can see issues for people who want to wait for the very back of the train though, but it will be disappointing if Dreamworld don't allow that. While I see the silver lining, its pretty shit that they only got one spinner, and chances are it won't be available half the time in off peak simply due to cost-saving measures as they balance the wear and tear on each train. I wonder if they will actually list which train will operate on any given day on their website or whether you have to wait until you get to the carpark?
  17. Sea World has a lot of seating options. They may not all be convenient to the place of purchase, but there is plenty of places to sit and eat including several nice grassy spaces. Dreamworld doesn't have this. Seriously though, if you're holding an event where you have lots of food, just hire some tables and chairs for the night. Event hire places do them really cheap. if you need to recoup that cost because you're so close to the line, then increase tickets by a dollar or two. I'm fine for you offering an exclusive extra place - characters, exclusive photo ops, table service or buffet or whatever comes with the premium, but not at the expense of the general experience - if you have a food offering, and it is (clearly by your statement) well known that a place to sit and eat is hard to find..... PROVIDE MORE FUCKING TABLES
  18. Rather than charging people extra for exclusive tables and chairs - perhaps Dreamworld might consider just buying more for their next major 'dinnertime' event?
  19. Because some pass holders have FN entry included in their passes, they don't include admission in UTT because some people don't need it. Instead of asking a bunch of people what is included in a pass you aren't even sure of, ring 133 FUN, and ask them. They'll ask for your pass number, and they'll tell you what is included.
  20. Which is disappointing considering your memberships are demonstrably your most loyal customers.
  21. You could just share the original MACK rides video instead of some tiktokker
  22. When ticketing goes live, the ticketing site should show in the terms whether a separate admission ticket is required (or not). Best you can do is read those terms. I'd suggest whoever left that online review probably didn't read and then blamed others for their mistake.
  23. So did Disneyland. times change. In this modern world, litigious and risk averse, Skylink wouldn't have survived anyway.
