  1. Being honest, I guess we can't all just assume that Christmas events will be held in december. There is precedent on the West Coast of running Halloween events 6 months away from October...
  2. This phrase 'maintenance nightmare' keeps getting bandied about. Yes we've seen it yo-yo into 'maintenance' periods for quite some time now, but has it truly been maintenance or has it been Thunder River related - first for the incident, then sky voyager construction, then demolition of Thunder River and Gold Rush entirely, then ampitheatre "construction" and finally ST construction. While I recognise it did have some 'harness' issues which required additional redundancy above the existing system a ways back, and I believe this didn't do Maurer any favours with their Dreamworld Relationship... but beyond this, can anyone point to anything being such a major issue here to warrant the moniker 'maintenance nightmare' or is this just what people are saying because it's been closed so much for reasons other than its own maintenance needs? The park is advertising the ride for sale as in perfect working condition, with loads of spare parts. If the maintenance record for the ride is so woeful, surely they wouldn't get away with advertising it in that way, right? C'mon - who's got the inside scoop?
  3. I know right? it's a good thing Arrow is still in business!
  4. Most underrated comment of the day.
  5. When did making sense thematically ever stop the GC parks? it just woulda been cool. I did say 'pull off well'. It can't just look like stamped concrete shapes. A fish scale stamp, for instance, has some resemblance to it, but not authentically so. I'm not sure they could pull off a snake skin stamp as well as i'm imagining it should be. There's a couple of designs i've seen on google - but over a large area, they'd either look like weird cobblestones or require a colouration that wouldn't lend itself well to resembling a taipan. It doesn't matter anyway because they didn't do it. They should probably take the boiled eggs off the menu too.
  6. I'd have loved to have seen a 'scale' texture on the path - but probably a pretty tricky one to pull off well.
  7. Interesting they've used an older photo of the ride with Thunder River still in it. I suppose it's probably the best it looked back then... https://www.usedrideseurope.com/ridesforsale/sky-loop-coaster/ 489,000 euro - or about $780,000 AUD. What a steal for a local little park (if there's nothing major actually wrong with it)
  8. He doesn't like to be called that. That's the precise time when the online marketing should ramp up - the enthusiasts have nothing new to post online to trigger the clickbait journos to write about it - so NOW is when they SHOULD be pushing content to fill in the gaps and build up the hype. If only there was someone out there they could employ who knows this sort of thing...
  9. 1 paid artist to oversee up to 10 volunteer students - sounds like slave labour for the students. If it were a charity event i'd be all for volunteers but as its for a paid event by a for-profit company, i find that despicable - even if they are getting valuable experience, it should still be paid work.
  10. "Catch Delta, LIVE at Dreamworld!"...is no longer an appropriate marketing slogan for musical performance.
  11. Yeah - they did progress videos for DC Rivals didn't they? it's almost like Village is missing something... ...and Dreamworld isn't....
  12. Fun Fact - Ranger Stacey used to be on Agro too....
  13. Village has been planning a massive resort for years, and the location has changed at least twice in that time. I think we've also seen several other dreamworld-centric hotel proposals too... so I wouldn't hold you breath (unless you're still doing that from the adventure river and ampitheatre, in which case, keep up the good work!)
  14. Yeah we've discussed this, including the impact that the Sydney olympics had to parks. as far as the gold coast goes, I don't think we'll see a 'special' effort just for the games. They'll probably tweak timing on some planned additions to ensure they arrive in time for the games to be promoted as the 'new big thing' and they'll spruce things up a bit. Hopefully some of it sticks and they don't immediately slash and burn it once the flame goes out. ...I took a walk through Movie World yesterday post-hooray and it was quite depressing.
  15. Yeah I think i said similar with the last video. for the GP - its a cool little teaser showing bits and pieces amongst talking heads and an energetic background track designed to build momentum towards opening. It could have been MUCH better done in house (if you know what i mean) but it is what it is, and it isn't bad. The most important thing to remember is that enthusiasts aren't the intended audience, and once you view that with this in mind, its fine.
  16. I think this kind of issue has been well and truly put to bed. LPS has operating guidelines that are now entrenched in legislation and other government approved documents. They know what they can and can't do - and it's highly unlikely that they would have any further noise or time restrictions placed on them as a result. Seems you forgot how to English without your daily forum exercises. It'll come.
  17. If they block it out for maintenance, it means they don't have to remove the signage and update the park maps just yet! #Economical!
  18. Congratulations on the first public post in 14 months. Welcome back. I don't need your toilet paper - there's plenty of people that can kiss my arse.
  19. Lol. Lots of folk used to go in costume that obscured faces - it was hard to tell who was cast and who was guest. They're probably going to have to re-word this policy this year.
  20. Short answer - The folks at woolies aren't here posting about it. The protesters aren't here posting about it. Long answer - Yes, everyone has their phone when they exercise. The particular issue at hand is that exercise isn't usually done in private carparks. And it's unusual at best to be driving across the harbour to do so. While the latest story is 'going with dad for his work related purposes' the original story given was "I was 'exercising' " (yes, the word exercising was in quotes). The implication was quite clearly that it was used as an excuse to visit to take photos rather than being in any way a legitimate reason for being there - and less than a day after responding to comments on social channels about the fact that the rules meant he couldn't visit to take photos. And it is why I used quotes around the word exercise in my post above. Whether or not Dept Health confirmed no breach of rules, it wasn't in the spirit of them. The NSW Premier has herself called on NSW residents not to look for loopholes and to behave in the spirit of the restrictions rather than find ways around them. Sydney is in its current predicament because: The NSW government was hesitant to bring in draconian lockdowns over a small outbreak and relied on the people to voluntarily observe the guidelines they put in place The people took advantage of the lenient and low-detailed guidelines by finding every possible way to do what they wanted remaining within the letter of the guidelines, but clearly outside the spirit of them. (Which, being honest, is human nature). This is why more than a month on, Sydney is plunged into a lockdown that has no current firm end-date in sight, reporting 100 new cases in the past 24 hours and 1212 active cases, and meanwhile South Australia reported 3 new cases in the past 24 hours and has a total of 14 active cases has put everyone into a lockdown that is more restricted than the current NSW restriction levels.
  21. According to Brisbane Times in a statement by John Osborne published in September 2020: That's the most recent word on the memorial that I can find, and it seems to suggest they aren't opposed. And it's hard - because even if one family wants it and the other doesn't - what do you do? I think a garden is probably not ideal - once it's significance is lost, it will be trampled on and vandalised, but at the very least the park should place a plaque. An acknowledgement of the event and the people who died - just like the ghost train fire, and several other parks I know who have had such losses of life.
  22. I'd rather a looping starship. Buzz is pretty well surrounded. Easier if you don't try to straddle both areas and just use both separately for different experiences.
  23. Nice try - that image is from about May 2016. The prawn was removed from Gamesite somewhere between August 2012 and May 2013 and shifted to the boneyard around that time... It was gone from the boneyard by September 2016, and that whole area has since been bulldozed for an announced and then cancelled adventure river, then further landscaped for a monster truck arena. The reef diver cars (September 2016), the wipeout surfboards (august 2018) and even the TOT car (spotted in Nov2020, gone by April21 - all of them gone long ago. It's honestly a good thing they've stopped hoarding long-dead attractions like they did with Vortex for so long.
