Fright Nights 2021
I've already explained why those two are not the same thing. Nevertheless at present everything is occurring as it is based on risk assessments. The parks got to reopen with certain restrictions, and so did the sporting venues. It's not a free for all footy day at Suncorp, in case you haven't been to the grounds - there are still plenty of additional steps taken due to the current environment. Like any other business, the NRL negotiated with the government to develop a method by which they could still operate. Government leaders themselves have talked about how the penalties the NRL hands out to players for a breach are far more than anything the government fines do. What I meant was simply that there has been much rhetoric (including in the NSW presser this morning) about a certain level of vaccination being needed before restrictions can be lifted. You said vaccination rates should not be a yardstick and yet that is the yardstick by which the UK has just removed most of their restrictions! You "know" this? How? How can leaders at all levels of government not know this, but you do? I think perhaps it is a poor choice of words, and perhaps what you meant to say is "i feel as though there is a better option than the one we are taking, but i'm no expert in health and finance and this is just an opinion".

Dreamworld's Spring Country Fair - New Spring Event
😮 Did they say... *gulp* "World Class" ??? I look forward to seeing what they've put on. Lord knows they need it with such a dearth of attractions. The trouble is, this is the kind of 'in park energy' they needed when their ride roster was full. Now it just feels like a band-aid on a broken arm.

Dreamworld’s BuzzSaw is Retiring
Wow Dreamworld. talk about shitting in your own hand. Where do I start? Why can't they add a flat? Literally anything that fits in the space is fine. It'd be a nice space for a swinging ship style ride or anything with a suitable footprint that adds more kinetic energy to that area, but doesn't detract from ST. Given the proximity to what is likely to take the crown as their new flagship attraction, they'll probably want to get some retail and F&B options set up over there to milk the bystanders though... collapse of ansett. SARS. bird flu. That was my first thought. Probably make stroller and wheelchair accessibility less labour intensive. I'd wager a shorter overall train too. How would you know? It was never bloody open!!! I'll own this one - I made several arguments for this rumour on the basis of rides missing from their pads. These have reportedly returned so it seems rumours of their demise were greatly exaggerated. I am sure QGOV would make them loans as they have done recently on the basis of it being commercially viable. The minute it isn't, they won't. The government doesn't go around propping up a single failing business without broader implications. This is why Village got the same cash Ardent did near the start of covid. No - if DW tanks, like Wonderland, the gov isn't going to step in and save it for sentimentality. If no buyer is found to continue running it (and this has happened before, albeit the park was in a better state than it is now), then they will pave paradise and put up a housing estate. If you open a restaurant, and it serves shit food, and its costing you more money than its making you to keep it open because people who try the food don't come back, do you keep opening the restaurant? Wasn't that because the queue was an iron clad oven? Anyhow - sorry buzz, but good riddance. one trick pony. poorly thought out. poorly executed. poorly manufactured given the safety harness issues it's had. Poorly operated given one row of seats was closed just so that an operator could cross the track... bring on the dozers.

Fright Nights 2021
This is, quite literally, the measure by which state and federal governments are using to determine when things go ahead \ open up. Even 18 months in, most people's general hygiene out in public is pretty pathetic. If that's what we're relying on, we're doomed. The irony that the UK has today lifted restrictions on the same day that their PM and two other senior government ministers have had to self isolate after being exposed to a positive case. The UK may well have moved to that model, but that does not prove it is the best option. Let's let them test it for a while before we jump on the bandwagon, eh? Disgree. Sporting models at present have had guests sit in a seat. They move to use facilities or F&B and then they return to their seat. I watched Origin last week and sure, not many masks in sight, But while there might be 20-30,000 in a stadium, if there's an infected person there, the spread risk is limited perhaps to the particular seating section of a few dozen seats, and perhaps the nearest bathroom or food outlet. A single infected person in a stadium is unlikely to infect the entire stadium population. Contrast that with movement within a theme park - 1 infected person is going to touch the same queue rails, walk through the exact same closed-room mazes, touch the same ride harness \ seatbelt... Everyone at the event is a potential close contact - including staff \ actors.

Luna park 9 new rides construction
No you don't. (I'm going to need Megan to verify your claims here... ) I know this is a huge blow for the construction industry, but in this particular case i'm extraordinarily glad there will be nothing to update on the coaster, and perhaps maybe this will stop folks 'exercising' with their cameras around north sydney.

TOT2 track removal
Simply... 'good'. There's no reason to keep it. Even if they could have somehow repurposed it, it'd have languished in the boneyard until they thought of a way to use it and would have both aged terribly and stood as a horrible reminder of what is no longer there. If it were Village i'd be suggesting they keep it for fright night theming but as it isn't, I see no reason it should survive. stick it in the woodchipper.

That village pricing is also a discounted offering. The full (non locals) one pass is $245 today.

Dreamworld General Park Update - April 2021
It's changed a lot - as @themagician said it was as high as $200 - and I even recall it being as low as $49 renewal at one point after TRRR. The fact it has settled back to $99 is because the psychological barrier at $100 is a tough marker. I think once Taipan opens, we'll see it go up again.

Fright Nights 2021
Not sure on the IP expiry, but if they had planned to have them last year, I reckon they, like much of the rest of the world, would have pursued some sort of extension or grace on the basis of the pandemic. As for mazes and IP - It's been a long time since I went to fright nights (and I have freebies every year I don't use) - and nothing about IP entices me to go. I'd rather they put their money into great mazes and great actors than to blow their wad on intellectual property licences and then have to skimp on the scares because they blew the budget on the name. I remember doing a maze down Lethal Alley one year - Dragon's Den or something. No IP. Pitch Black. Scary AF. The other memorable maze i've been through was the film vault - no specific IP - just a bunch of fences, a lot of smoke, and random characters stalking and scaring the pants off of you. SAW is probably the only IP I remember at all - and even then, I don't remember much in the way of scares - just Jigsaw masks popping out here and there.

Rocky Hollow Log Ride Demolition - Dreamworld
Not gonna lie, that's a pretty good replacement for that area - Plus it builds on their Mack relationship as well. I can't really see any negatives to this other than "its a water ride and you've had bad times with water rides" but I think it wouldn't be difficult to turn that aside with reputable manufacturers that have built several of the coast's most recent thrill rides successfully and without issue. I love the idea!

The testing requirement for greater sydney is every 7 days I believe. Workers need to have proof of their test such as an email or text showing the appointment confirmation. If there's enough people on-site, LPS could even potentially contract to have testing done on-site during regular toolbox\smoko sessions. It'd cost them half an hour or so to keep on the right side of the regulations, and losing 30 minutes a week is far more preferable than shutting down construction for what (at this stage) is predicted to go on for the next month.

I think you mean 'Trident'... Unlike a steel coaster like Taipan where the control systems come with pre-fabricated bolt-on parts that simply slip into place and plug in, woodies, even though the massive structure appears complete, can still take a lot of work to place a lot of ride control components as they don't have a prefabbed hole to just slot into. And @jack.c even if that wasn't the case, its still got a lot to go until its predicted opening day around 5 months from now. (So if you're impatient now, you've got a looong road ahead!)

Well, yeah - because its a launch and not a lift chain. If a lift-chain somehow allows a rollback you're gonna have a bad time.

Animal Kingdom vs California Adventure
Ok fair enough. It just seemed a bit odd to be comparing essentially an elaborate zoo with an elaborately themed pier style "fun park" without some sort of motive. Apples \ Oranges, you know? I can understand "we've got 2 kids under 10, which one is better for kids" but just 'better park?' without context, I found to be quite jarring. *Not a sponsor* To be honest, Parkz has a very underutilised ranking\rating system for these parks. Animal Kingdom has precisely 1 review, for 3.8 stars out of 5. California adventure has 0 ratings, so impossible to compare. Honestly rather than asking people to share their views here in the forum, I think the Parkz database (and everyone visiting the site) would benefit far more if people actually rated the parks \ rides in that database, wouldn't it? Essentially you're just looking for a win \ lose battle between the parks, which isn't really something open to much in the way of discussion. Polls don't usually stimulate much conversation, and despite the few replies here so far (and the one in your previous post) there isn't really much to reply to. So, to help you out (and because it's relevant) I haven't been to DAK so I can't judge it on my own. I asked some folks who spend their tyme doing reviews of theme parks on occasion, and they did a pretty thorough rundown of both parks. Anyhow - spoiler alert, DCA got 78, and DAK got 84 out of 100, so the answer to your question is DAK, but only just. Your last one only had 'better park' ? without all the highlighted text, so it seemed like a bit of a pattern... I suppose I did 'ignore' the obnoxious black highlighted text as the rest of the post seemed to fit the same pattern of lacking context and just like my recent comments elsewhere on the forums about polls causing issues with adaptive technology, inverted text colours tend to be difficult to read for some people.

Steel Taipan Construction - Dreamworld Mack launched roller coaster
Will it though? With three goes at the launch track the computer has got three chances to recalculate the launch power - it will no doubt be able to measure the speed off the first launch, and add or remove power off the second depending on the speed, and again coming off the spike it should have a fair idea of the speed its going and how much more is needed to get over the first hill - I've no doubt its still able to rollback but I doubt its likely in the slightest.

"we had to pick up". According to his earlier posts his father had to pick something up. Literally zero reason for him to go. This is why Sydney is in the situation its in - everyone is looking for the way around the restrictions - the loopholes - instead of behaving within the spirit of it. I feel as though this is simply attempting to re-agitate the same issues over and over again. Every action has seen the government side more firmly with LPS each time an argument is raised. The hair raiser DA comment is just flat out wrong - What he has written is inflammatory and from what I can tell, designed to try to get the support of the residents. He's a local councillor you say? when does the NSC have their next election? Oh look! a political upwards seating pit!

Animal Kingdom vs California Adventure
I don't mean to be rude, but your two contributions to Parkz have been to ask this ^ same question about two different park pairs without literally adding anything else to the conversation. I'm no moderator, i'm just asking because this seems a little disingenuous. Whats the motive here? Are you planning a trip and trying to choose? are you conducting a market research survey for tertiary study (or commercial gain?) - The question you're asking is very subjective - which is the better park for a family with 2 young boys that love dinosaurs? no brainer. Which is the better park for people who live in Anaheim? Like duh. I'm all for stimulating discussion on a topic we're all here for - but it seems like you've put in minimal effort here and you're asking everyone else to do the heavy lifting on the topic without any specific point to start from. In the past, that's mostly been the style of people doing some sort of study or research wanting everyone else's thoughts to use as their own work. Care to shed some light?
