Steel Taipan Construction - Dreamworld Mack launched roller coaster
Yeah I guess that makes sense. in my head I figured it'd be easier if there was any ride logic stuff in there to do it without the theming around, but since they pull through before they have full runs, its obviously necessary to have all the theming in place.

Thanks Gazza. My own bias - but i'd imagined the spike being more 'vertical' than this. I feel like that last piece is only going to exaggerate that too. Will we see train on the track \ runs before they do the tunnelwork?

You're talking like - early 2002? Come on.... we were practically at ADSL by then!

Movieworld 30 Year Anniversary Celebration Predictions
A 3D version of the 30th logo, attached jauntily on a corner of the main logo would have been a really classy touch. Someone in the sign shop loves their new digital sign printer a bit too much these days.

Nearmap Updates 2021
There should be some from previous updates - try the forum search function or the previous Nearmap or Rivals threads. Otherwise i'll try and catch it on the next update.

Second phone line in the house just for the modem so nobody would pick it up and kill the connection when Napster was 98% complete after 2 days online.

Winter Sports World , Penrith
I don't think what you suggest is geographically tied to Sydney. Many other projects around Australia have suffered similar fate. I like this project's chances - I grew up in Penrith. Penrith is already host to several olympic level sporting facilities including the regatta centre and Penrith Whitewater. The site is perfectly located, and right next to Panthers \ Cables Ski Park. Will have to wait and see, but i'd like to see this succeed. The new Airport will also make it far easier to connect to the Penrith sporting precincts for state and interstate sporting teams. With that said, however: clearly they've already had delays:

New DW Local Annual Passes
Pretty sure Dreamworld offer that opportunity in-park as well, although I don't think its widely advertised.

Luna park 9 new rides construction
I'm sure its a limitation of the ride model but IMO I think it's disappointing Silly Sub is facing the cliff, instead of Lavender Bay. Could have made for a nice view!

Current Obsessions
Kids today will never appreciate what it is like to wait up to 2 days just to hear an amazing new song, only to realise the source was just a renamed MP3 copy of Dennis Leary's Asshole. Oh, your DLC update for your 4k quality game is 31 gig? *laughs in 128kbps sound quality* (Also, "approximately 15-31 gig" is like saying the price of petrol is approximately $1.50-$3.00 per litre.)

Dreamworld Maintenance 2021
Yeah you got me - I misquoted myself (and now I can't find the original post) - but my main point was not to say nothing. Be upfront about what's happening and tell folks - sure, if the licence is ending, but if it isn't, explain why so many rides are down right now (which they did) so the end result is the same. Pretty much this. I'm no dreamworld fan boy and never have been. You can go back over my history and you'll see i've got a distinct preference for village parks. But I call it how I see it. Not everyone agrees, and that's fine - the forum is for sharing differing opinions and debating the merits of them. I'll admit seeing Greg head over there did give me some hope we'd see Dreamworld compete with Village again, but until recently, I felt like he'd been kept on a leash. Recently some things changed, and we're starting to see small things. And any change for the better has got to be good, and worthy of praise. I'm realistic enough to say it won't happen overnight. I've not been the biggest fan of some of Village's decisions recently either - but the Hooray for Hollywood efforts at bringing some movie magic back into the park and dispelling the 'DC World' stigma is also a great step in the right direction, and regardless of which group you think is better, it's exciting right now to see them both taking strides forwards and trying to better themselves.

Movie world Maintenance 2021
I think, as we heard from Dreamworld yesterday, the change in government requirements for all plant over 10 years to have a teardown is probably causing a little havoc with their maintenance schedules.

Kinda figured that out from the posts above mate - my point is - something is better than nothing.

Dreamworld Maintenance 2021
*stands and applauds* I'm pretty certain somewhere on the forums, I recently said 'be upfront about the current maintenance situation' instead of just pretending everything is normal. Whether that was prompted by the discussions on Parkz or whether someone in Dreamworld's corporate area just woke from a nap and realised it didn't look that good, either way - a big Kudos to them for not only explaining the issue, but also offering a token freebie as compensation - which is more than I would have expected - just a transparent explanation of what is beyond their control would have been enough, so kudos for going the extra mile... I won't go into detail about what non-passholder guests should take from this message though...

Nearmap Updates 2021
Based on the shadow length and the reported height of Buzzsaw, its more around 6am. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice... Sorry mate - This is a themepark discussion forum so i've only done updates for the theme parks... 🤣

Movieworld 30 Year Anniversary Celebration Predictions
I wasn't dissing it. It does look chintzy, but that is exactly how they did it. It'd be interesting if they had something there to explain it, and\or show a still from the film for comparison. Kind of how the studio tour walked you through real sets and revealed the spaceship wall panelling was just styrofoam meat trays glued to the wall. Literally an A3 sheet of signwriters steel, printed in the flat digital print style everything else in the park is these days to explain the effect of matte painting, etc would be a really nice little touch.

Nearmap Updates 2021
That was the view the decision makers had when looking at the 3D model. (and it shows, by how much of a 'sore thumb' the machine room is from the ground, compared this the aerial shot...)

Steel Taipan Construction - Dreamworld Mack launched roller coaster
I think they'll most likely take down only what is needed to accommodate their current plans. If Blue Lagoon falls outside those plans, then they'll leave it be.

Nearmap Updates 2021
Not sure if its the recent eclipse or the cold, but i'm feeling generous... I did do a Leviathan image over in the construction thread, so I assume you're just after Vortex and the Trident space?

Nearmap Updates 2021
It's not 2020 anymore. Here's a new thread with all your favourite Nearmap updates all in one place. (Construction specific images can be found in the relevant construction threads) First up - everybody's favourite waterpark (June 5 2021) A little 'spruce up' looks underway for the WNW\AOS entry driveway - all the garden beds are dirt, and there's plenty of water thrown around - hopefully something nice and pleasing for the driveway as a little welcome to guests is on the way... Movie World - Also 5 June 2021 Dreamworld - 28 May 2021 This really gives you an idea of park attendance lately - the cars parked closest to the park gates are by far outnumbered by the cars parked over by the coaster construction. (This was taken on a friday) Also spotted in the maintenance area - a GD gondola shell, as well as - THE MISSING DRONKEYS! Out back of the Shell appears to be some of the removed railway tracks... White Water World shows its bones with most of the pools being completely drained for the Winter shutdown. And we'll finish up with Sea World - also taken on 5 May 2021 The village parks do look a lot busier - but bear in mind that the Dreamworld shots were all done on a friday, whereas the village parks were all shot on a Saturday...
