  1. i think you mean a rats nest.
  2. Apparently MW socials are confirming privately that Arkham will be retired, but still not sharing that publicly for *some reason*
  3. It really doesn't. Rivals took the Australian market to a new level. And its a Mack. MW dropped $30+ Million on that. And it's still commanding big queues. The Rivals wave hasn't ended yet. Even with the loss of Arkham, they don't need a billboard coaster just yet. We're still Toyota country. Solid, reliable, reasonably affordable. We don't have the lifestyle for a Rolls Royce. Need to see a few more jumps in AP prices before we can start thinking about that. Unfortunately the shopping list for Australian Parks usually doesn't include the criteria "must please enthusiasts". They're usually shooting for a broader market - one who doesn't know the difference between manufacturers, or... care.
  4. I mean look - it was the wrong choice of ride for what Dreamworld needed in a recovery phase. They needed a big coaster or other massive drawcard and sky voyager was not the right choice in that environment, and in that line of thinking, it kinda was a waste of money when they needed something big to turn things around. As an attraction though, its a great addition, and not a waste of money at all. Firstly its capacity really takes a load off the rapidly declining list of attractions. Secondly, it provides solace from the heat with a good 20-ish minutes of indoor and air conditioning. As an attraction type, soarin' is still amazingly popular in Disney parks around the world. The new-ish installs in the Asian disneylands have obscenely popular lines. Its the ride that keeps on giving too - as we've seen, change the ride film, and the whole ride is a new experience again. The film cost is a small part of the overall cost, so longevity is a no-brainer, provided the machinery can keep up with it. The experience itself is also great - it suits MOST age groups, from ages 3-100+ so its a great all-rounder family attraction. Sure, its not the greatest thrill, but not everything in a park should be. Sky Voyager has a place at Dreamworld. Add to this the new Steel Taipan at that side of the park and it takes a lot of pressure off the struggling Ocean Parade. I really can't comprehend, with all of the above, how anyone could consider it a bad addition in any way except perhaps the timing of when it was introduced, for the reasons mentioned above.
  5. I mean, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, even if it is wrong. 🤣
  6. I can't get over how much wind that ride was making.
  7. its completely plausible, but i find it very hard to believe that nobody noticed anything flapping in the wind in the 4 days between when the storm hit and when the crane was on site.
  8. Don't bring me into your chess match.
  9. Whatever suited the bias in the media on the day. I've no problem with private quarantine. To be honest, i'm sure anyone could have arranged to stay in fancy resort 'quarantine' if they were willing to pay that - as it stands a lot of people aren't even willing to pay the budget price for the normal hotels... High profile actors are usually very respectful of local law requirements - Depp-inately some exceptions to that but consequences followed. I'd expect Hanks would be one to follow the rules for sure - especially when he and his wife were hospitalised and treated so well the first time, he of all people would be in a position to know what danger they were placing everyone in if they breached it. At the end of the day, there's no use arguing with conspiracy theorists, lunatics and political oppositionists. They'll never listen to reasonable argument. It's like playing chess with a pigeon - they'll just knock over all the pieces, shit on the board, and strut around like they won.
  10. This is kinda my outlook. One would expect Disney standards on food to be higher than your typical streetfood - so when we were in Hong Kong a little while back, we had the 'star dinner' which was all very traditional chinese stuff we'd never have tried on the street - some of it was a little weird, but all of it was amazing!
  11. I assume this is some attempt at reducing embarassment? like the red light isn't bad enough? But sure - i'm sorry guys but the device you're standing on, which obviously checks your weight says you aren't within our weight range, but please try alternate slide that doesn't have the same limit?
  12. The rumors of Trident's death appear to have been greatly exaggerated.
  13. If the staff are at the scales weighing people and knocking them back, then they should be trained to be apologetic and suggest alternatives "i'm sorry guys but the limit is XX - you might like to try such-and-such a slide instead?" By the sounds of the story, they were knocked back from a couple and decided not to bother with the rest - if the staff weighing had suggested alternatives, they might have had a better day...
  14. Purely? so you're suggesting there is absolutely zero health merit in the actions and decisions of the non-elected position of chief health officer?
  15. Short answer - no. The noise complaints will never shut it down again. If it's permitted to be built, it's staying. The circumstances of the sidewipper's removal will never happen again.
  16. I mean, that's like wanting to visit Las Vegas, and substituting the Canberra casino...
  17. Asks member not to brag about his knowledge, proceeds to brag about his knowledge. Only by sheer volume, and to be honest, nobody gives a shit about your in depth 'stick it on the fridge' analysis. The news updates are good. But @Jobe gives us that too - so you aren't really that important. Would you like a step ladder to get down off that horse?
  18. Facebook, press conferences, closed door meetings between corporate and government... I mean - a COO whining at a press conference that the whole thing 'is bullshit' is a tantrum. That's not the sort of outburst one expects from an executive of a large public corporation Its very difficult to separate suburbs from each other in the same state. Victoria's 'ring of steel' has been breached numerous times, and has involved an enormous amount of equipment, manpower and logistics. When the 'Logan Liars' breached the border and made false declarations (the source of most cases in recent SEQ times), they had exposures from Ipswich to the Redlands, BCC and Logan council areas. Its impossible to 'separate' that. But you deal with cases in your own backyard. You don't import new ones - you manage the risk with the existing population. Sydney isn't allowed in even though the rest of NSW is because 'greater sydney' has a lot of crossover. 4 unexplained cases in 3 different localities means the spread could be far larger. Sydney siders work all over. When I lived in Sydney, I lived around the Penrith area, and within a few years (without moving house) I worked from Hornsby, Castle Hill, Parramatta, Cronulla, Eastgardens, Sydney City and everything in between. The mobility of Sydney means a case in Castle hill can just as easily reach Sutherland as it can Campbelltown. So 'greater sydney' is the hotspot, not 'castle hill'. It'd be pretty hard to pretend. It hasn't. Anyone who thinks the Premier's position on the Queensland Border has been about politics either needs to stop sucking Murdoch's tit, or declare their LNP membership card at the door.
  19. That's great Wal, but the commute for a movie is a little far IMO.
  20. ^you really need to pay attention more, and realise when someone is making a joke. It wasn't at your expense btw.
  21. In a lot of ways, I think Jamberoo is far superior to RWS.... except one, which makes a big difference - proximity and population density. RWS is local to a large swath of the Sydney population and can bank on the locals visiting on a hot afternoon. Jamberoo isn't really something you do on the spur of the moment, and for those living in Greater Sydney (the biggest local population nearby) you really need to take the whole day to visit... and RWS will always trump Jamberoo because of this.
  22. You are not allowed to speculate. If the park has said nothing, you must not assume anything at all and just accept being a mushroom - it is inevitable!
  23. Its fundamentally human nature to want to know why, and to try to provide an explanation where no apparent explanation exists. It's not strictly limited to theme parks. And this isn't just to mudsling VR either. Dollywood was pretty tight lipped on the problems with lightning rod during its long downtime too - so, i'm not suggesting its the park's fault - as i said its human nature - i'm just saying the reason why Sidewinder isn't being regarded as the same situation is because there are known factors about sidewinder that give people the foundations of an explanation that they don't have for JR.
  24. I've seen 3d models of light shows for big concerts. 🤔 I wonder if there's any renders of the various show programs that will ever surface - its virtually impossible to predict what show you're going to get and i don't ride it enough to see all the different ones.
