  1. Are we specific to Australia? Green Lantern : First Flight at SFMM for me is the best removal ever. I hated that thing. Honestly, I had no love for the Sea World Pirate Ship. It filled a nice hole, that sadly the park hasn't really done anything to replace, but I had no love for it. Likewise thrillseeker. For Sea World I prefer Ray Reef. I enjoyed thunderbolt, but still no love lost.
  2. It's probably better than marketing MDMC as a 'thrill ride'. At least they're aiming low. As for world's best, we've covered 'puffery' before.
  3. I'd suggest they probably couldn't run their storyline including the crowd participation element, so its easier to just run 'seal guardians lite'
  4. I think that'd be an improvement.
  5. You can, but then you have to charge more for it. And that's the biggest hurdle for an Australian Disney park - because foreigners are already paying a fortune to travel here, and then deal with the much higher prices for pretty much everything.... And meanwhile the locals won't pay the premium price because down the road is doing it for $99 annual.... It would have to be an insanely exclusive, one of a kind experience that you can't get anywhere else to draw people in, and the biggest cost savings for Disney are cloning the same attractions at multiple parks to offset the R&D cost - so its a catch 22.
  6. I disagree - i don't think the projectors are the best things they could have used - the 'black' still bleeds light, and its clear where the edges are. I'm sure there is projection technology out there that wouldn't stick out like such a sore thumb. Get truer blacks for the areas that aren't part of the animation. Maybe mask the area with some 3 dimensional props to help the projection 'blend' into the surroundings better? I mean - I know we can't spend Disney money - but the little waterfall on N'avi river journey is such a well done example of 3d sets coming to life with projection. Honestly we have a lot of computer animation talent in Aus with realistic imagery - the scenes could be animated better than they are. And lastly - that green screen effect just doesn't work. I don't know if the contrast isn't enough, or if the processor power behind it just isn't up to the task of doing it real time - but hell - Zoom meetings do a better job at superimposing images on a live video feed, surely it could be done better than it is? eta: the screens in the lifts only really work if you're in the front car. the back car really doesn't get the whole story or the whole image. I don't know what can be done to fix this given the limited space, but full height screens would be far more immersive...
  7. Don't worry - happens to the best of us...
  8. That's not really a big achievement...
  9. just drop a few shopping trolleys into it (aka city canals) and it fits the theme perfectly!
  10. I don't think Patreon covers hotel quarantines, so its probably a while off...
  11. You mean, they're following the same construction approach? 😮
  12. They're just wasting time and resources and they're going to have to tear it all down. Everyone knows they can't start building this coaster with local tradespeople. They have to wait until the GG specialists arrive!
  13. You don't get how the media works... Any mention of Dreamworld for years to come, court case or not, will usually get tagged with some reference to the incident. It's a bit how 'hard luck' family stories on the news as early as September start referencing 'just XX weeks before Christmas. Happens every year. The media just try to add more emotion to stories to get a reaction and I think it's quite likely the TRRR incident will continue - even if the park was bought by new owners, even if they changed the name - it'll still be 'the place where 4 people tragically lost their lives'
  14. Did the hamster on the wheel die?
  15. Not sure if you're taking the piss or serious Gazza... but just in case you are and this has gone over my head, there are multiple cars - at least 8 based on a room count that I can recall. Doesn't mean they're all on the tracks (and there could be more).
  16. cool pics - surprising detail considering it isn't meant to be anything about the parks so very cool. Judging by storm and sea viper the maps are between 2013 and 2014.
  17. so probably soft open to do some cycles before clearing the maintenance dates off? what a pleasant surprise for guests visiting today!
  18. All whisper and rumour i've heard has said the same - Arkham (no surprise) and Pounce & Bounce (no great loss). Given that Dreamworld ?recently? removed theirs, my guess is either the product has issues the manufacturer can't resolve, or in the new age of safety, the restraint system probably wasn't up to the task required by the risk assessment. All my own speculation - but its quite telling the long list of other attractions everyone is coming up with, be they SBNO, down for extended maintenance, or otherwise omitted from the park map, suggests VRTP has a lot more than 2 attractions they need to remove at some point in the future, and that doesn't even count those still operating that have a troubled history or are on their last legs.
  19. Well... we can see now.... Thanks Jay Jay.
  20. What's wrong with Resident Layer?
  21. I think you might be mistaken. I have no reference to back that up (although searching Parkz i'd probably find it eventually) but as I recall there were issues with the restraint systems - safety requirements stipulated independent redundancies were needed. The manufacturer \ park believed the existing redundancies were adequate, but if i remember correctly, because the redundancies were integrated, they weren't regarded as independent, hence why we eventually got seat belt fasteners on the harness as an additional redundancy. Ok, google made it easy on me - searching 'buzzsaw restraint' and this was the top result - https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/gold-coast/dreamworlds-big-thrill-ride-the-buzzsaw-has-been-closed-due-to-safety-concerns/news-story/ab76b2cc06c4732b82a709ed3f87aaff Something something ogres something onion something layers.
  22. I feel like many 'schoolies' will probably still attend as normal. The lack of organised events just means they'll probably wreak havoc elsewhere. Just my opinion.
  23. You are indeed correct, and I agree with you. Your point makes more sense, so thankyou for that. I will add, just for context, my Disneyland situation wasn't a case of going just to ride Space. our plan was the park, as part of a 3+ week trip to Nevada and SoCal, and the fact space would be open was great... until it wasn't. My point was simply when planning a trip to the GC, if you intend to go to the parks, you may check what will be open, especially if its a favourite, or if you haven't been on it before, and arriving to find its closed when previously you'd checked and it said it would be open would lead to disappointment.. I hadn't noticed the two-day extension though (its hard keeping track of dates these days sometimes) and had thought it another one-day extension, so i'll stand justifiably corrected on that point and look forward to Superman reopening by the weekend then.
