  1. I feel like it was a bit of a joke at Andrew's expense. He's likely never going to live that down on the Parkz forums.
  2. I feel like the labour intensive nature of walkthrough attractions like this would be prohibitive - it'd be relegated to seasonal operation in off peak times, which in turn would make it hard to retain good cast... i do like the idea, but sadly i don't think it'd work at a village park.
  3. I'm going to try not to hijack the thread for much longer - but first, a clarification - @Flynn_Smith I owe you an apology - although you've negged quite a few people for things that I personally think are questionable, I had you and someone else mixed up in terms of the 'gross-level' of reactions you were giving out. I am sorry for the confusion. As for reactions, I think this sums it up best: Share your words, don't just communicate in emojis. If you like what someone has said, but have nothing to add, by all means hit that like button. If you don't like what they've said, explain your point of view to further the conversation, and perhaps give other people your perspective.
  4. You tend to dole them out only to specific people. It would be far more helpful if you'd express WHY you feel sick reading certain people's posts, rather than just negging them constantly. You say its there for a reason.... perhaps you could try sharing that with the whole class?
  5. You know, since Push has been gone, its really noticeable just how much you 'nausea' react to people just because they disagree with you. It's funny its always the same people who get positive 'likes' from you too. You said everyone gets bashed. Three people have now disagreed with that broad statement. I called you out that your statement was wrong... (which it was) and you negged my reply. I literally JUST got done making a point that Arkham wasn't "easily" the worst coaster - and you come up with yet another BROAD claim, which is IMPOSSIBLE to prove... and you're gonna go neg everyone when it gets pointed out that you're wrong? Maybe just ease up on that hate button a bit mate. It doesn't do you any good...
  6. I don't. Don't get why people keep speaking for everyone else - especially when they're wrong...
  7. It's a good idea, no doubt - and would provide numerous sponsorship \ advertisement opportunities - but i'm not too sure if they'd want to go to that expense if they aren't confident of keeping it running.
  8. ...and this is why they needed a new coaster FIRST. Coasters bring the crowds.
  9. So, Arkham is easily the worst.... except for maybe MDMC? Not so easy now...
  10. Before DCR, MW got a little Doomsday filler. The fact that they're doing SOMETHING that requires investment (new projection equipment, and a commitment to opening after normal closing time - staffing, wages...), its a GREAT start. It at least shows that WnW is back on VRTPs radar... and if the movies prove popular, its a point of difference for them over WWW, which may lead to higher visitation, which in turn may lead to reinvestment.
  11. I'm pretty certain that they ditched the old projector. Now that they've built all the shade structures around the wavepool, they're going to need a new solution. Rear projection probably isn't viable. The old screen was made of metal, and you'd need translucent material to rear project which would suffer from winds. A giant screen would be cool, but the existing screen is still there, albeit perhaps a little worse for wear, and if the slab were for a screen, it's a ways back - you wouldn't see it over the pump house for half the pool - wasting a lot of space. You can see the screen in this pic - its the boxy shape on top of the pumphouse that hangs over the water a little. The screen simply rolls forward, and pivots downwards. Yes. See above. I don't think they'd need new speakers - the existing system would probably be ok, unless they really want to plow some money into it. Absolutely a new projection booth \ system is needed - and i doubt rear project is an option as i said above. With all the new cabana things... ...Nevermind. Just had a look at nearmap. There's a really convenient point for them to project from... the zipline tower is probably perfect. I tried to go back in the nearmap timeline and find the old projection booth but couldn't figure out which one it was - i feel like it was off centre though... Also, as you may be able to see in the two images in this post, the newest nearmap, the screen material has been removed, revealing the bare support frame for the screen - this lends credence to the suggestion movies are coming back, as they've probably removed it to either repaint it, or replace it.
  12. You get to the front of the queue line, and there's Greg in full horror moulage with a sign stating the ride is closed permanently, while he 'Dr Evil' laughs devilishly, telling you it was all part of their Hallowe'en event experience, and the ride is closed forever!
  13. Adventure World does fright nights on Hallowe'en now? Wow. That's groundbreaking compared to the last time they ran a fright nights. Who would have thought doing a scary event during Hallowe'en? You heard it here folks. If you're visiting, wait until Tim hits the waterslides, then grab his bag and run! You should always pre-heat your oven before entering the Mazes. Enjoy the trip @Aimsley81 - look forward to hearing your TR!
  14. I get the sense, if they got the ride pic, it may not even open again... that'd be the souvenir worth keeping
  15. Maybe that's what hit the DCR rider last week?
  16. Here's some statistics: 49. Total number of posts you've made. 36. Total number of firmly negative reactions you've had. 20. Total number of fountain reacts. 16. Total number of nauseating reacts 9. Total number of likes. 25. Number of days since you said Tower of Terror wasn't going anywhere Now, looking back over your posts, you do seem to have expressed genuine interest, and even shared your opinion on some interesting topics that contributed nicely to the discussion, but the other half of your content seems to be baseless statements that are super critical, without any real backing or substance. So, you may be a really clever troll, or you may be genuinely trying to participate in discussion without realising the impact some of your wild statements are having. At the risk of taking the troll bait, if that's what you're doing - i'm going to try and genuinely offer some advice, rather than just flaming you and starting a bitch fight. Unfortunately on Parkz, the negative is always remembered way more than any positive contributions, and you aren't doing yourself any favours. I see one person has already chosen to block you. So here's the thing - if you're expressing an opinion, state it as such. Add a little substance to what you're saying. If you think something will get removed, say why. likewise if you think it'll stay. We've all been wrong from time to time, but usually if the evidence supported our conclusions at the time, its justifiable as to why we held that opinion. Saying such things like 'bulldoze the monorail' with nothing else doesn't help. The artist impressions of Atlantis show the monorail clearly working its way through the new area, so the basis of your statement is a little jarring. Did you make that statement purely on the basis that it has an open ended maintenance period published? Because the alternative - that it is closing so that construction can commence in that area - is a much more plausible explanation, given those artist impressions. Likewise, as the adage goes, never show a fool an incomplete job - the slides are currently being constructed. As mentioned above, there are still support pieces in the carpark. As for the slides 'being very short' - check the concept art. that may help you visualise a bit better. Hopefully, i've not wasted my time. For everyone else - never fear. I'm sure i'll let loose a spray next time.
  17. Yeah, I don't think MW has got that in the budget, but it would be a great install in a few years when they've recouped more of DCR. When Arkham goes, I'd love to see them open that area up - reconnect it between west, scooby, and superman. that would resolve a whole lot of bottlenecking and dead ends in the park, and open it up to far more creative pursuits than just a double coaster.
  18. Yeah look - going back over 10 years of nearmap, the concreted area has never been used as anything more than a road way, and it does look like they've resurfaced the bitumen in there on several occasions. The trucks and cranes moving in and about that area probably do tear up the ground a bit - especially on hot days, so hardstand is likely - but it's odd that they haven't run it through the whole area (ie - up to the access gates) as they're just going to tear it up the moment the vehicles leave the concrete. Honestly though - if the Bikash claim is legit, it wouldn't be the first blowhard lot of hot air we've ever had from that corner.
  19. Than Arkham, I assume? Yeah look, different for everybody I guess. For me, Buzz is just too short. It's Surfrider with a bit more track and an inversion. It's a one-trick pony. Reminds me of Marcel Vos' half corkscrew coasters. Storm is way better themed, but just not that exciting. I know an SLC is an SLC, but honestly they're a staple across the world, so clearly popular enough, and with the Kumbak train I think we have one of the better ones. The VR adds to it too. Now, i'm not Push, and i'm not going to sit here and claim its the best on the coast - I agree its near the bottom of the list - it may even BE at the bottom - all i'm saying is I don't think its a clear cut "easily" at the bottom as was made out.
  20. Whatever it is, its a bloody weird placement if it is an attraction. The back of house area behind the wavepool is a ridiculous placement for a new slide when they have so much area in the H2O zone that is unutilised - all of the picnic space, the buggy space, mach 5... That area is used to store mobile carts, and as a maintenance area (in May, the surfrider train was stored there). They've made no effort to clear much of the crap stacked around that site either. I'm pretty confident that it isn't going to be a slide. The finished slab also has no piping like one would expect would be underground for a new slide complex. The only thing that piqued my interest was the obvious trenching that had been done prior to the slab being poured as seen in the shot below (bottom left end of the trench) - but my guess is probably electrical, or drainage.
  21. Undeniably the system is great for our little Aussie park, but I disagree it was 'what dreamworld needed' - there's been countless discussions here about how SV wouldn't "save" dreamworld - and they'd have benefited far more if they'd build the upcoming coaster first, and followed it up with SV.
  22. easily? I mean if we're going to start picking the worst coasters on the coast, I don't think it's "easy" to put Arkham at the bottom. MDMC, Buzzsaw, HWSW, Storm... these four immediately come to mind as being pretty poor examples. I won't rank them beyond saying for me, they're all at the bottom.
  23. Of course, things will always look better in the dark...
