Luna Park Sydney's expansion
Hi Michael, thanks for your question and interest in our new ride, currently under construction. We're excited to announce that we will soon announce when we will make the announcement about a date for us to announce when we will announce the new ride. Keep an eye on our social media channels in the coming weeks!

'Tower Of Terror II' E-Stop
Such a fucking horror story. that happened to me a few years ago and i didn't get a damn meal voucher. I guess I should sue. this interests me. I don't want to suggest that legitimate mental illness doesn't need support - they should get every possible support we can give to help people get healthy again - but its interesting that a husband and wife, who are now separated, have only now decided its time to sue the park. And they're not suing for support. They're suing for money.

One product/service you would like at our theme parks
You can never go past the smaller details. Sure, DW needs to do something bigger than they are doing, but if that comes at the expense of the smaller details it still won't be enough. What point is it building a big audacious coaster (for example) if there's rubbish blowing down main street? if the toilets are broken? If it's literally the only operating ride at the park at opening? If in 6 months time the maintenance and care of the attraction causes it to fall into disrepair and is shutdown for months at a time? From little things, big things grow. The small things matter.

Future Dark Ride at Dreamworld
The area has just had massive earthworks. the soil hasn't had the usual settling time yet, and is sloped in such a way that any level of heavy rain would wash a lot of the earth downhill, eroding and otherwise damaging the profile shape of the works they've just done, which potentially destabilises what remains. The silt fences allow the water the drain off without all of the soil following the path of least resistance straight down the hill. It would have cost less than $100 in materials to erect that, and ensures the thousands of dollars they've just spent in major earthworks isn't literally flushed down the drain. it is not indicative of any work ongoing, or any suggestion of new construction. its not 'a bit interesting' is just plain common sense.

Quick February Dreamworld video update
That's true... they're called the minority of the theme park going public though... so there's little merit catering to them if you're trying to improve your attendance, revenue, or popularity.

Movie World DC Hypercoaster plus sized harness fit?
Claw actually had new seatbelts fitted a while back, and they are shorter than they used to be. I used to be able to ride just fine and now cannot get the seatbelt on despite not changing weight or where i carry it. Rivals is close, but i do get it locked - the operators will try what they can to get it to lock without compromising the ride safety - they encouraged me to grab the harness with both hands, and to try to lift myself out of the seat (which pulls everything together) - for a successful lock down. Doomsday was a similar, but looser, fit. Scooby is tricky - if you have a gut, but still reasonably slim across the hips, make sure scooby's bar sits under the belly roll and you'll be fine - it all comes down to where you carry it, rather than exactly how much you weigh.

The Off Topic Topic
They couldn't be that stupid when there's an easily verified official QFES social media channel publishing the photos saying it was an exercise.... could they?

Arkham Asylum Facade work
The one thing about the special effects attractions is that many special effects tend to need controlled circumstances - I feel like you'd need to enclose the arena to make that work - and that's probably a bit too far, considering Showstage and LTRR sheds are available. I've said it before - but I would love to see a USH special effects show put into showstage. I realise they've utilised it for Aquaman at the moment, but its so much more suited to a SFX style show.

Arkham Asylum Facade work
Not disputing your opinion here - but you really need to get yourself to some Disney properties... or even some universal ones. Now that's an idea I can see working in the HWSD arena. Its a lot more current \ timeless than PASS would ever be. The trouble is the stunt performers are so much more expensive than panel beaters...

Adventure World 30/1/19
That's your prerogative. I answered your question with my point of view. I wasn't the only one with that view. It does make sense for AW to move because of the weather. I'm not disputing that. Its just a little funny because literally every other 'scare' event that i am aware of is based in october, and at least in some way suggested to be connected to halloween. You're very welcome to have a different opinion. Potentially, being at a different time of year, those die hard scare chasers might travel and aim to do both events... i'll be interested to see how they go with this year's event.

Yeah - so did Luna Park Melbourne - to refurb the Scenic Railway Trains.

Adventure World 30/1/19
I think you never see it referenced anymore because it's regarded as redundant and unnecessary. It used to be marketed as a 'Halloween event' (reference to a 'halloween event' in this media analysis from around 2013-2014) This vlogger uses halloween in the video title referencing a fright nights event, and the comments include things like "i'm going this year for halloween" Overseas, (which i'm sure many here would agree is the inspiration for such an event in the first place), the parks all do it "for" halloween, and many of their events include 'halloween' in the name. Its also probably indicative that the intention is to associate it with halloween simply because it (and several other events around the country) are all timed to occur on, or around 31 October. I'd argue many people connect fright nights to halloween, given the multiple years worth of effort MW has put in to building such a horror and scare themed event in that manner. No. Pretty sure @Tim Dasco or @iwerks can confirm, given their conversations with the GM, but Perth seems to have terrible weather around October, and many events around then are impacted - so the move to Feb\Mar is to have 'better weather' for the event.

Sky Voyager Discussion
Heh - I made a similar observation last week - they are technically correct so long as it does eventually open! although the costs for this have allegedly increased beyond the original starting point, wasn't there some lease deal or something where Dreamworld didn't actually stump up the full price tag, and would instead be paying Brogent over several years?

<Park Name> Maintenance 2019-2035
Use this thread to share your thoughts on the "2019 maintenance" or "2019 updates" or similar. Richard has previously outlined a desire to minimise megathreads. Obviously, maintenance updates tend to be a middle ground between off topic chit chat, and topical discussion, especially in today's world where some parks update their maintenance page almost hourly, and extend maintenance periods almost arbitrarily without explanation. Do threads that are mostly made up of website screenshots, that go on for 12 month periods actually contribute value? Or would it be better for maintenance that appears to be outside of routine having its own thread for each ride that applies? ie: Wipeout's ongoing issues would be well to do to have a thread about the uptime, and the downtime, the changed load requirements and so on, but posting an update about gingy's glider's being closed for a 7 day maintenance period isn't really news worthy. Is this really what we want, posted every time a date changes???
-
Dreamworld Maintenance 2019
Neither do I. Dreamworld's maintenance page changes more than their underwear. Which is how we end up with megathreads that span a year. I would disagree, but I won't clog the thread up further... i'll ask the question elsewhere.

Arkham Asylum Facade work
My bad. Dark Shooter. I think that was the point - nobody is riding it. The whole area of Doomsday is good - but for someone unfamiliar with the precinct - finding the entrance is. fucking. painful. Much as I love the series, and the show, I don't think PASS is appropriate to modern audiences. Hell - a lot of stunt shows are falling out of favor. Unfortunately, the quality of show at VRTP has croaked.

Sky Voyager Discussion
I just want to reiterate my support for this word being passed into the site dictionary (like SBNO)

Arkham Asylum Facade work
Will you make up your mind? The park makes effort to improve the theming in a precinct - you say its pointless. Theres an old adage that applies here - never show a fool an incomplete job. I have a prediction that he will reference the VR animation on Arkham, and possibly JL3D as being 'connected to a movie'. Likewise, he will not associate GL, DCR, SE with 'movies'. And the only reason i'll be wrong is because i've said it before he replied.

really good point - but at the same time - it's been closed a fair while now... can it really be closed this long just to apply some stickers?

Arkham Asylum Facade work
As much as i'd love to see something like that come to one of our GC parks, its not what i'd like to see them do right now. The park is very heavy on the high thrill market - and while Doomsday promised to fill the void and meet the middle ground, sadly its a bit too much for low end thrill seekers. Simply the fact that it goes upside down is enough to drive people away. Excluding WB Kids, the primary MW lineup consists of: Coaster Coaster Dark trackless shooter Shot tower Coaster Coaster Family Coaster (with 120cm height restriction riding solo) Water Flume Inverting 'pirate ship' style ride. Where is the middle ground? A family coaster that the whole family can't ride? A water flume? (great for winter!), a shot tower? (except those with vertigo or fear of heights).... what you're left with is JL3d. *yawn. Acquiring the variety of flats they have is the one thing that dreamworld have done well. I'm not making any claims about how well they operate or maintain them, but they acquired them well.
