  1. I'm just gonna put all my replies, posts, comments, observations, witty GIFs and Wonderland references in this thread. It's Richard's job to fix it how he wants, right? Time to quit your day job @Slick - you're gonna have some work to do!
  2. By gosh you're dense old chap.
  3. Bahahaha. 1 fountain? Seriously - you need to make a few more accounts so you can hit my posts with multiple fountains... a single one just doesn't have the same credibility!
  4. Who is dictating? I was just agreeing with you... (also, it's pretty clear by the fact I missed the latest 'fun with Dylan' that i'm not here 24/7). Side note - can someone tell me when all the kids go back to school? (#cantwait) You're right! @Richard did cover this in his post on Parkz Policies. I've underlined it, but i've copied the whole post in case you're incapable of visiting that thread to read it for yourself. Dylan has done you a big favour - by comparison, you're a saint. Don't bring the spotlight back onto you by whining about something that's actually stated by the site owner clearly in the forum policies. That's a surefire way to piss people off.
  5. How do you figure? This is a flume. The boats are designed with bumpers for when they collide, and in several points on a flume, they are even permitted to. The new cages even have convenient whiplash bars installed for just this purpose too. The conveyor is capable of controlling log release - i don't think this is the cause of the shutdowns. Park Wide Maintenance Train Discussion Log Ride BuzzSaw Mega thread is mega.
  6. I mean no offence, but I kinda can't even believe you tried it... 🤣
  7. I think we have enough information to figure out @Theme Park Enthusiast is the same as @dylan_oregan. Fountain and wave boys.... Fountain and wave...
  8. I think @Slick said it best... I think we have enough information to figure out @Theme Park Enthusiast is the same as @dylan_oregan. Fountain and wave boys.... Fountain and wave...
  9. I recall the upgraded supply lines and distros being discussed, which is only natural for a park expanding beyond it's original specs - it makes perfect sense. I'm still keen to learn more about what makes up their backup power, and just how much of the park this system is capable of running off grid, or how much they can feed back to the grid...
  10. 'LOL' The clue here is its coloured yellow. its designed to be seen, which means it isn't planned to be installed into a roof. It's also not a vacuum. The pipe is attached to a box inside the building, with the hose leading outside. They aren't going to be vacuuming inside the building and just blowing it all outside now, are they? What you're seeing is more likely either a portable air filter, or a portable air conditioner, both commonly used during construction for various reasons - however given the area wouldn't be overly hot, nor is it open to the public, its unlikely to be an air conditioner, so you'll likely find its some sort of air filter, being used to make the air more breathable. Considering the plastic sheeting, and the bare plasterboard here at present, its likely they're sheeting, sanding, etc, which generates a lot of dust, and probably under WH&S legislation, it requires air filtration systems.
  11. I've had a look at Nearmap. There is no solar within the perimeter of the AW facilities. Theres a 383 panel array on the roof of the Ice rink down the road, and 40 panels on what looks like the main hall at the Perth Waldorf school - but no solar. I'm fairly certain based on conversations here and off-board that the claim is AW has large power generators, not solar farms. While I am aware that AW had upgraded the supply into the park, as its previous supply was inadequate for the new attractions it had installed, and with that i've no doubt they probably brought in a padmount sub or similar, I cannot see anywhere on the park's grounds where they could be housing a generator of the size claimed. I'm quite happy to be shown to be incorrect by evidence, but i'm doubtful of this claim as it stands.
  12. Yeah sure... let's spend a buttload of money demolishing everything we're not currently using, just because we're not currently using it. Coming soon - bare earth, the ride.
  13. What, in any of those photos, makes you think they're installing airconditioning?
  14. *Facepalm* Wasn't the Kirby stoush just posted on these boards a couple days ago? That has seriously got to be the most boneheaded comment of the week.
  15. I had meant feeding supply back to the grid. If they have such excess supply that they can feed the grid, the set up is probably a little too large. Additionally, given the power suppliers all have many trailer mounted backup generators (usually used to power a suburb when the main feed lines are shut down for maintenance), surely it would be cheaper for them to run their own units than to pay a third party to feed the grid? By what has been said above, the system at AW doesn't power the entire park either (only '5 rides') - so now i'm sensing contradiction.
  16. they were theming it to a motorsport venue, which it does bear more than a passing similarity to... Sure, its not the best redo of an obviously beautifully rendered facade from the 'original' dreamworld - it isn't off the mark.
  17. I own a little Honda 2Kva. It operates all the appliances in my caravan. Sometimes, I even let other people camping nearby plug into it too. But I can't afford a generator to power everything in my house. I can use the little honda to keep my fridge running though... How cost inefficient.
  18. Wow @Mc coaster thats an amazing find! Would you mind sharing your find on the Wonderland History FB page?
  19. As soon as you figure out how long this piece of string is.
  20. There are many theme parks the world over who handle much bigger crowds than Movie World that are capable of checking every bag. Some even put people through metal detectors.
  21. Skyhawk, and towards the end - the great balloon race. Wonderland gates would open at 10am, and All rides would open at the same time - which would usually see people running around the lake to be the first to get to probe, demon, etc. HBL would open at 10, but you'd regularly see ride ops walking up the hill just after 10, and still beat the first guest into the area. Goldrush always opened at 11, with the rides opening at the same time. Unlike the rest of the park, Security did walk the rope down the path, so guests usually wouldn't reach Bush Beast or Snowy until at least 11:05, and likewise, rides were still in their operator 'test cycle' as guests walked down the path - which actually gave the area some kinetic energy and encouraged people to stop at those rides instead of all piling onto beast and snowy.
  22. Parks the world over trade until late during summer. Perhaps if our parks were actually offering something special at night, it'd bring people in. I know Wonderland used to be packed out during it's late trading hours - $5 after 5, fireworks, light and laser shows... there's plenty of things they can do (some of which wouldn't cost the earth) which would actually give people a reason to go at night. Instead of it being a special event, just keep the park open, offer something extra special, and do things that make people WANT to spend money. the separately ticketed night events obviously make money - and since in the past, many tickets to those events were included for free in annual passes, there had to be something that made money - does it have to be a special event? I mean - clearly AW does it regularly, so don't tell me MW can't afford some overtime, or some strategic rostering of the necessary staff to make it work... I've seen it work from a rostering perspective at a theme park so i'm sorry @Levithian - I don't buy it.
  23. I disagree - i saw this before Christmas, and I thought it was great that each and every character, appearance and show was shown chronologically. You could look at the time, and then scan to the right part of the page to see what was coming up soon, to decide what (if anything) you were interested in catching. I think it'd be good to either have a 'big show' summary elsewhere, or otherwise mark those on the page in bold or a bigger font...
