Luna Park Sydney's expansion
Honestly i'm getting a little sick of LPS's position on this. Every other theme park needs a DA for construction and relocation of major installs. Why should they be exempt? The courts have ruled on the noise issues, so it should be a simple matter that any objection to the development on the basis of noise or lighting should be promptly disregarded provided the developer has submitted the relevant studies showing that no increase beyond that covered by the case law exists. There are other reasons to object, but likewise - the approving body should have as much regard to them as is relevant based on the previous decisions. As a large property developer, Brookfield should have the knowledge, the expertise, and the cash to go through the process that everyone else does.

Tower of Terror ongoing/indefinite closure (Dreamworld)
Despite what Dreamworld may have said about the ride, I disagree. TRRR and Rocky Hollow are wet rides, and as such is one that we would often skip unless it was quite a warm day, AND we had come prepared with a change of clothes or shoes etc. Ridership on these two attractions tends to be lower on cooler days, wetter days etc, whereas the dry rides obviously see similar proportions of riders all year round (proportionate to park patronage). I think the 'assumed' popularity of both rides can be attributed in a large part to the fact that restrictions on riders for height, age, etc were low or non-existent, rather than the quality or experience of the ride. (Likewise, Vintage cars, I daresay, would have a higher ridership if it were still in its original position - it wouldn't get it near the top of the list, but i doubt it would be suffering as much as it is if it hadn't been moved). This just highlights the park's need for a dry, all-ages ride that is not only suitable for all ages and sizes to ride, but also an experience that is enjoyed by all - something I hope will be filled by i-Ride.

Sea World update - 8 September (Dominos, Creatures of the Deep Closed)
No. Sorry. You don't get to do that. You can crap on about how Movie World is supposed to be about Movies, and Dreamworld is supposed to be about dreams, but you don't get to say everything at Sea World is supposed to be about fun. Wikipedia lists it as a Marine park first, oceanarium second, and a theme park third. Sure, making the experience entertaining or fun is more likely to encourage guests to part with their cash, but at the end of the day we've seen all aspects of the park make steps towards 'less about entertainment' and 'more about conservation and education' - the evolution of the dolphin show from my first visit in 1994 to today, and now the same steps (in some form) for the seals, and the more 'zoo, conservation and preservation' aspects of exhibits such as polar bear shores, shark bay, ray reef, which are less about entertainment and more about 'this is reality'

Dreamworld General Updates 2018
^Indeed - and it is feedback that we have given GCAF before - i'll be honest, its an improvement on previous whirlwind videos. TBH, i'd much prefer a good quality smartphone photo of the various things and updates, rather than these 'scanning videos' - but i acknowledge that that doesn't get your youtube views up, despite giving the readers what they want. As for the exhibit, I must say i'm extremely underwhelmed. When you take a look at the size of the models in the Lego store, as well as what you see in other shopping centre displays, or the monstrous models you see in Disney lego stores - these are a lot smaller than I expected. Someone needs to tell Justice for Captives though - so they can petition dreamworld to empty the tanks too.

Sea World update - 8 September (Dominos, Creatures of the Deep Closed)
Seal Harbour is not a presentation and education venue. It has educational signage around the area, but the Seals are predominantly left to their own devices with minimal interactions. It also doesn't have the capacity to be a 'presentation on seal training' as too many guests would be unable to attend. Doing it in a stadium seated venue is the better option, much better controlled, and with a full AV complement.

Movieworld Kids Area Expansion?
Marvin's rocket constantly had problems. I don't recall ever seeing it operate, and it sat for a long time 'under maintenance' before it was quietly removed. Taz's cars - i'm not sure. It was taken out at around the same time as JDS was installed - perhaps given the similar ride experience, and the labour cost, it was easier to close it down. The Taz cars were also getting on in years, so probably coming to end of life, and cheaper to remove when JDS provides a similar experience. Taz's former site is now a parents room \ area, and its a great facility for parents with small children - and far better than their previous space. Whilst it may not appeal to everyone, its perfect for that age group, and should remain where it is - the facility won an award, and is a much better pit-stop for parents with infants than any park i've ever been to (although i've never seen a Disney parents room).

Movieworld Kids Area Expansion?
You won't even pay $10 for a fucking locker to protect your valuables... its hardly worth staffing year round just to capture your measly $20. Paul and Paulene's parents are only mildly more fucked up than Timmy and Tammy's parents for the comparitively similar names, although Timmy and Tammy could be shortened from Timothy and Tamara which are suitably differentiated, whereas Paul and Paulene aren't. I need a "He's got a point, Jim" meme, but CBF sourcing it - so - Movie World Management - read above. Skeet's got a point.

Mystery Future Dreamworld Attraction
yeah. thats the problem with the social media generation. Just like drought, or breast cancer, or any other cause - lots of people will 'like and share' it but when it comes to the crunch, how many put their money where their mouth is? How many of those likes and shares and reacts will convert to actual attendance as a result (and not just because 'we were going anyway') People have to put the phone down, and get off their asses to attend - THAT is how you measure a positive guest impact, not how many kids posted a smiley emoji.

Mystery Future Dreamworld Attraction
Perhaps this is testing the waters to see whether it has a positive guest impact, and perhaps, if positive feedback is received, they might see to invest in not only a better version of this show, but also in other entertainment offerings of a similar nature. there* is. but their isn't.

China's Fake Disneyland
Actually, there's this thing about China where they really don't care about international copyright law. This doesn't cover it exactly, but was literally the first thing on google for those who aren't lazy... https://www.chinalawblog.com/2017/02/china-copyrights-and-fair-use.html The thing is, while they have laws about infringing on copyright and trademark, its not really the highest priority of the communist chinese government to assist foreign, capitalist organisations from prosecuting the chinese citizens. I'm sure Disney thought about and quickly rejected going after the knock off due to the sheet futility of the process. Of course, with parks in Hong Kong SAR and Shanghai, The dragon may be opening up to Disney, and may very well be a little more amenable to IP protection of a 'close partner'.

I also like to play a game called 'nappy roulette'. Do you want to go digging through a couple of "apparently used" nappies in the nappy bag, in the hope that one contains a wallet, and not a god awful stench? Sometimes the gun has a bullet, sometimes it doesn't - you wanna risk it? As for the trust factor, it is possible i suppose for thieves to watch a group leave their belongings and head out of sight. The catch is whether anyone comes back. I can instantly spot where my stuff is from across the other side of the pool, so as soon as it comes into view, I can tell if anyone is near it. You'd need eyes in the back of your head to make sure i wasn't coming - and there aren't many exits from a theme park if you get caught. If theft of personal belongings was a REAL big issue in the waterparks, don't you think we'd see heaps more signs from the park 'do not leave valuables unattended in every damn direction to try and appease those who would hold them liable? I'm sure the odd pickpocket does the rounds, but you have to be a bit stupid to try it in a waterpark as a general rule.

Movieworld Kids Area Expansion?
You mean like the family river rapids ride? rated as a moderate thrill family ride with no height limit? That'd be the escape \ panic rooms they have during fright nights. since the space isn't used at other times, its easier to leave the containers in place.

Movieworld Kids Area Expansion?
Marvin was similar to a 'la bamba' travelling carnival ride, but smaller, for kids. The difference being the la bamba you face forward, whereas i'm pretty sure Marvin's rocket faced riders to one side. For those who aren't apple fan boys, replace CMD with CTRL. Despite @Roachie's tongue in cheek response, Yes, JDS always has a decent queue, but I fear that is predominantly because the WB Kids area is the only area of the park for kids under a certain height, and many of those kids are older, and don't want to ride tweety cages or tijuana taxis, so JDS is really their only option. Despite it's apparent popularity with families, at the end of the day, its sub par in the grand scheme of things, and the space could be much better utilised. Although i'd love to see an indoor kiddie land that is full of a bunch of zamperla flats or similar, the catch with that is for the same footprint, you immediately multiply your staff requirement by a significant number. Personally i'd like to see them move some of their existing attractions inside, and redevelop the outdoor area into a more 'family' friendly (think a family coaster that runs around the whole area) environment. Put in a couple 'fun house' attractions where you can walk through Bugs' house, and get the kid's stage back up and running - where it belongs. The top one is definitely maintenance, I think the other one is too. THe third as pointed out is the 'showstage' which has hosted western stunt shows, magic shows, TV gameshows, and more recently, WB Kids related shows and fright nights mazes.

Luna Park Sydney's expansion
As has been said, big top won't go anywhere. As both an event space, and a licensed venue, I daresay provided it receives regular usage, it would make more money in a night (for less cost) than a typical weekend of rides. I used to work for a company that had the in-house contract for AV in that space, and the value of JUST the AV component of the events they hosted there told me everything I need to know about how important that space is to the park.

ParkChat Live VRTP Interview
BAHAHA! touche! even on an ipad i find it difficult to navigate. i like to access unread content, open every topic in a new tab and then read through, closing as I go. It's not convenient to do that on an iPad. I do have my phone to access if i desperately need to, but usually will wait until I can access a desktop.

Ardent Leisure & The i-Ride (Warning: Contains Artist Impression Of Dreamworld's i-Ride)
it doesn't fit the overall area it currently sits in, but it may well be an indication of the direction they're going. (all jokes aside). Retheming goldrush into some sort of aviation space would be a far cry from a 'river ride' that killed people. Buzzsaw could easily retheme as the "red baron's barrel roll" - and it wouldn't even need much of a paint job! I'm visualising DCA's Soarin' area of Grizzly Peak. nondescript sheds can be hidden by 'hangar' theming. Paint the ground with random runway \ taxiway \ apron markings. Naturally don't install Grizzly River Rapids! The area lends itself well to many other aviation inspired attractions (such a shame Tailspin is at the other end of the street), but the area would open with a coaster, and a blockbuster 'simulator' style attraction. If you proceed with ToT removal (see other thread) GD would also connect well to the new theme, with plenty of space for outlets, and several flats which could be accomplished at minimal cost. the front building for i-ride could have the 'sidewalk gutter' painted red \ white \ yellow etc, with PA announcements "the white zone is for loading and unloading..." etc. The only difficulty would be the fairy shop - as it would need a retheme also... however perhaps it might be time to bring back the helicopter tours (which would be perfectly suited), provided the helipad is still usable given the buzzsaw sitting next to it. This actually sounds really good to me, and has me excited to see if they go in this direction. Of course, it is Ardent, so I fully expect to be disappointed - but i'd like to be (pleasantly) surprised!

LOL. Yes took some time off for a few things and it was less convenient to access parkz in my absence.
