Just on this and to expand a little - do some research online, so you have an idea of what prices they're offering before you go. By all means if you see a price you think is reasonable, make a booking if their cancellation policy allows no penalty cancels (many hotels over there allow you to make a reservation without any money down, and no penalty to cancel), and that way you'll have a 'fallback' - but have 2-3 hotels in mind, in order of priority - visit each one, and just enquire about a room price at the checkin counter. If you don't like what you get - then you've still got a fallback to go to!

From what i've seen, they like to keep the SRQ moving, and try to get at least a pair in each cycle or two. If there aren't any odd groups in the main line to require a single rider, they let two from SRQ in last. They didn't specifically put them into row 10 (at least not while i was there) but if general queue chose to line up at row 10, they'd push them to whichever row was vacant... its just that most sheeple tend to fill from the front, back - leaving row 10 the last to fill.

Although I note your personal experience, as i've said previously, my wife works for the biggest residential builder in queensland. All their sites shut down from Xmas - New Years. Some trades may still choose to work during those times on various small jobs - they get paid by the job, not by the hour, so it's up to them how quickly they get things done. The office itself closes for a week beyond new years as well. Regardless of whether trade, construction, demolition or other industries do or do not work during xmas\new years period, this is usually the biggest tourist peak for the park - and indeed the entire coast. They may not wish to have that sort of work going on during that time, for guest experience reasons.

I love the shot, I really do - but I do wish they'd have targeted the snow a little better - ruins the illusion when you can see a pile of snow in a line right in front of the characters.

See the stuff I posted above. Try to squeeze more disney time. I assume you'll hit DCA as well and one day at each park isn't enough. If you can squeeze a third day, where you can park hop between the two, it should give you most of both parks without missing much. Staying on Disney property is always special. Even if its only for a couple of days (plus the perks for hotel guests when visiting the park - like parcel drop off are a bonus), but it IS pricey no matter where you stay. I doubt you'd get much benefit out of it if it were only overnight. USH is very different to USS. USH is a working studio with backlot and a lot of other stuff going on, whereas USS was just and always only about the rides. It's a very different park in my opinion, However if you like USS you will like it, you will enjoy it. 1 day will be sufficient provided you're picky about busy periods, or willing to pay a little extra for the premium experiences like fastpass etc. SFMM is also jam packed with people most days. I've only ever done the park for a single day per visit, and never managed to get EVERYTHING done - even with a platinum flash pass (although it is doable depending on who is with you and what pace you keep up), but a single day is still an alright visit, even if you miss things (tip: prioritise your must do's, decide what you're ok with missing, and leave that until last - don't waste time criss crossing the park - take a logical path from one side to the other so you don't have to backtrack). Knott's is great, and a day should be sufficient. Vegas is worth the trip. Although it goes against the grain, don't book a hotel in advance. Walk-ups (in my experience) always seem to get a better price. the New York coaster isn't worth it unless you want the credit, but Circus Circus is worth a couple hours. You'll lose a lot of time driving to see the canyon - we found a tour that picked up at the hotel, took you to the airport, flew you to the western edge, and then choppered you down into the gorge before boarding a boat. Great value, lunch included, and just over half a day, while still having plenty of time to see, marvel, take photos etc.

How do you figure? Define "Australian Cuisine" for me? Our culture tends to draw from the diverse migrant backgrounds that emigrated here. You can't really exclude any of them unless you want to go back to witchetty grubs and kangaroo meat - so while many chinese dishes are stapled with rice or noodles, "Australian" dishes can be really anything. --------- While Doomsday didn't really do much to build attendance, what it does do is provide additional space to soak crowds, and keep them occupied. While most rides are 'heres the queue, there's your ride, exit this way' - the doomsday precinct keeps people around - looking at (and now playing with) all the interactive elements in the Villains Unleashed area, as well as the ride. The park has needed several flats to spread the crowds away from the big thrills, and doomsday was a step towards that, which was sorely needed when queues on the big ones regularly hit more than an hour in peak. Several other little flats would be a boon for the park to really balance things out.

It's easier to see them if you're the first car into the lift (second to exit) - as you roll back to prepare for the backwards drop - look to the right (at about "2 o'clock"). Some ops have lights on, some don't, so you won't always see them, but they're there.

I quite clearly didn't claim the photo as my own - even clarified when someone thought it was my kid that it wasn't. It's not like it's a #first! or #exclusive! post, or imagery of a brand new area. Its a kid with his head shoved into a locker - which could have been taken anywhere. The person who took the photo is a member of parkz, but as 'crediting' them would reveal their identity (and i'm unsure as to their preference on whether they wish to or not) i left their name out.

I don't believe you for a second: Mickey clearly has knowledge of the Park's rostering practices, as well as how exciting that shift can be. Either he worked there, or he knows someone who did. If that didn't tip you over, then the followup should have: At that point, connecting the two posts together, you should have realised you were dealing with people much more intimately familiar with the ride than you clearly are... and yet an hour after Spotty's post, you continued to argue the point: So if you still argue that you didn't know, then it is only because you don't read things before replying.

As Brad has pointed out, you're a one legged man in an arse kicking contest right now - you have no chance of winning against people who have been employed to operate the ride... But just in case somehow you still think you are correct, note that the 'mirror' never used to be there before the fire. Its a poor masking attempt to cover previous ride effects no longer in use, while giving you something to look at in a room that without it's effects is just a boring wood panelled room. If there WAS in fact an op booth there, it would have been there from the beginning, and since the mirror hasn't been there since the beginning, its implausible to suggest that they built a booth where there wasn't one before - without some hazard identifying a need for it.

lol. I am so completely not surprised by that. Its convenient that you never seem to reply to an entire post - only the parts you think you can argue against. You never told me what you do at the beach... or a local swimming pool...?

I don't disagree with you, but at the same time, we've seen transport rides at all of our parks cut back or removed entirely when they reached end of life, rather than updating \ replacing. Skylink, Dreamworld Steam Trains, Sea World Trains, Sea World Skyway... given many other places are removing their monorail systems (sydney, jupiters), it'd be more likely the park scraps the attraction when it is no longer viable. I would like to see them invest in new fleet - and preferably buy 3 of them when the time comes so it is restored to the days of old (and as Rappa said earlier - bring them back to full speed too), but i'm reasonable enough to see how much money they've just blown elsewhere on property that it probably isn't going to happen in the next year or so - and in the meantime they need to 'life support' what they have as best as they can. ETA: If they've got the budget (which they probably don't), I'd like to see them install an 'exit only' station in the carpark too. It would help to empty the park whilst clearing the queue line, and could be 'reversed' to permit entry to after-hours events for reasonably small groups, to prevent guests from walking through areas of the park that aren't necessary - permitting construction or maintenance work to commence even when there is an event on.

Well, you do 'know' someone as several people have already commented alternatives to lockers such as backpack \ towels. What do you do when you go to the beach? Do you stomp your foot at the lifeguards because they haven't provided lockers? You are alone in this belief. Many people at swimming pools, water parks and beaches trust their belongings in their bag \ shoe etc. There are occasional losses, but I can honestly say i've never had anything stolen at a pool \ beach \ waterpark. A locker isn't an essential requirement. Many people who ride superman leave their wallet and phone in the car, and enter the ride with just their pass tucked into their shoe. There are ways around it - which is why IT IS YOUR CHOICE. *headdesk* they should not be free. nobody provides a service for free. its an extra. it's not included with your pass (and it shouldn't be). therefore if you wish to use it you must pay.

what... Projection Mapping?

Look - the other day, Skeeta mentioned a 0.001% miracle idea opportunity - and today is the day you have that 0.001%. Its a great idea. I don't think Stars is the right fit for it - the ceiling is pretty low - although these days ultra short throw projection is possible, so who knows. I'd prefer it go into Rick's, with a complete redo of the building inside and out... but that's just my opinion. A friend of mine does projection mapping on his own house for christmas time, so if one guy in a garage can do it, surely MW could achieve it relatively easily. ..and then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like... If you didn't whine so much, just expressed your opinion \responded to opposing views instead of complaining how you're treated you might just enjoy yourself more. Like Alton Towers, we all very much know that you like, and visit it often. Thanks for the reminder though. Like most people, I've been to AOS a couple of times, and only ever when there is a different show to the last time - and I think that would be the case for most. You've hit the nail on the head that the mapping would be successful if it were different. You could even offer several different 'experiences' (shit, maybe Dreamworld should do it instead) on a menu at the front, so that when you are seated, it can be a different experience every time? It wouldn't be hard to automate a system for the wait staff to seat you, offer you your menu, and then when you've selected your experience, press a touch screen to cue it up. Generics, with seasonal offerings (an easy halloween and christmas generic would be perfect to start), and then you could also work on developing IP related experiences too - similar to the Arkham VR - you could have various DC experiences, Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo.. You could even have one developed around HWSD - where cars use your table as a race circuit. I think if they opened with one or two, and then slowly developed new ones every 6 months or so until they had a roster of about 10 to pick and choose from, and then seasonally or every couple of years they could refresh some of the least popular films with new ones (since they'd have usage stats on which ones are being watched more often). It would also 'bring the movies' back to the park - you could even do an experience where a film crew comes out onto the table, and sets up a film shoot!

I think you'll find (if i recall from previous discussions here) that the third train was cannibalised in order to keep the other two functioning. But when a restaurant is busy, or only has a few seats, isn't it only fair for the wait staff to advise you when you arrive that there is going to be a substantial wait? I'd prefer the park be upfront about the length of time you'd be waiting for it. Social media is littered with complaints from people who don't read maps, showtimes, or understand that they aren't the only person in the park, complaining about how their day was ruined because they had to stand in a queue and nobody told them how long it was going to be. If the cycle time of the monorail is going to be 20 minutes, I think the honest up front statement from the park is not just appropriate, it's required. Sea World's monorail opened with only 2 trains from memory, with a third train being relocated to the park after the World Expo in 88... Like most other multi-train rides in the parks, they rarely run more than one train, so that the other can be in overhaul \ maintenance. As you say - since they're likely approaching end of life, it would be silly to run two trains just to reduce the wait time - you'd end up burning out your fleet twice as fast.

Do they teach economics in South Australia? Frequently during busy times, the lockers are sold out, even at $10. At 1 or 2 dollars, you'd find they'd fill up even in off peak, and you'd again be left without a locker, and be on here whinging about it. Your passes do include the waterparks. They don't include your wallet, phone and other valuables. What you do with them is your choice. You aren't required to hire a locker. There's no butch security guard with a doberman standing at the entrance gate pointing a gun at you and forcing you to go and hire a locker. THAT. IS. YOUR. CHOICE.

It's a very different story if a VRTP uniformed photographer is shooting parts of the park, versus 'random adolescent\adult male with camera shooting photos of kids in their togs'

Of course, if we'd just credited the photo as being park supplied, rather than without comment which suggests its our own, it all could have been avoided. It really isn't hard to say 'this image just popped up on SW's facebook page' or 'stolen from TPSN' - even just 'pic:gogoboy' is enough to show that it isn't that person's picture.
