DC Rivals HyperCoaster - Fast Track available
Seriously? you guys are fuckin sheltered. Most overseas parks would charge within this ballpark. This is the best rollercoaster Australia has ever seen. The queues for this ride are going to be significant for some time, especially during peak periods. Summer is going to be just plain stupid, and fright nights is also likely to be ridiculously long. Sure, it's more expensive than Backwards seating, but backwards seating has specific return times, and is limited to two seats, so if they sell a crap load of them, you're going to be waiting a while (one only has to look at the length of the queue for it to know it could take a while if it is only 2 seats per cycle). Fast track has the option of 20 seats - 10 times as many as backwards - so if you want to Ride. It. Now. or if you aren't a fan of going backwards, then this is the option for you. Personally I don't like the direction Village is going - where a park that used to be 'all rides, shows and attractions are included in your admission' to a situation where 'our ultimate tour isn't actually the ultimate, and you'll have to pay extra' upcharge on an upcharge. I like that they're offering a VIP experience - but I find it disgusting that they'd then come out with an additional purchase on top of something they've already referred to as being the best on offer. If they were planning the 'hyped' tour, they should have advertised this in the first place. But I digress - and back to rivals. To an extent I expected them to monetise as much as possible surrounding Rivals. I'm honestly very surprised we don't have fast video yet, but I'm sure they'll do it if they can (and i'll remember that it wasn't online at launch for doomsday either), but for a ride that has cost around 3 times as much as any other new attraction in over a decade - if upcharging for special perks helps them clear the debt and start planning their next major attraction (and they keep installing Quality attractions (if not the most expensive ones)), then i'm all for it, and i'll pay for the experience as time and money permits.

Control panel pictures
Well, he didn't say it was his, he said 'here is one OF tot'. Besides, does anyone really care about TPR anymore? Some look like buttons, but others would be indicator lights. I have no knowledge of this specific panel, but based on what I can see, and a few assumptions, i'll suggest: one key is the 'operations key' to enable the ride for normal operations. The second will be an 'auto \ manual' switch to allow manual operation as appropriate the third key should be the e-stop reset. Once an e-stop is hit, it should require a key to reset the ride to prevent misuse. From what I can read, the blue indicator looks to be labelled 'XXX cable engaged' - (i'm assuming this might be the tow cable for overshoot recovery, because i can't think of anything else) bottom left orange - not sure if button or light - one is forward, the other reverse, and either indicates the direction of travel of the car, or if buttons, would be for use during manual control, perhaps to jog the car. to the right is your ride start button. I'm assuming the top is the button to start, and underneath is a light to indicate the ride is ready to start, which probably doesn't illuminate until the other operator engages the switch on their console to give the all-clear. TO the right of that, the upper red one is ride stop. Not sure if the lower red one is another indicator, as with the start, or if it has some other function. The others i have less of a clue over, but you probably need to have a harness locked indicator (which may just be the green light under start), as well as a button to unlock harnesses if someone needs to be released before launch. I would think given what i can see that the light that is actually lit is the harness indicator, with the two buttons below being a lock \ unlock. I'm also not sure whether the tunnel siren (the pulse sound near GD just before launch) is manually activated or is tied into the ride start. I wonder if we have any ToT operators on the boards who can shed any light on this...

Dreamworld - 2017 "exciting" "experiences"
Took the words right out of my mouth. Honestly? you think those 9 will rival Rivals? (had to do that!) Superman, Green Lantern, Rivals, Batwing, Arkham, Doomsday, (and if MDMC ranks as a big thrill, then...) SDSC and Wild West Falls. That's 8 rides that i'm comfortable saying shits on all but maybe 3 of DW's 'big 9'. Honestly their current actions don't even come close to competing. I'm calling it - Movie World is the new thrill capital on the gold coast!

DC Rivals - Construction Thread Best Quotes
...Of course I know you were being sarcastic Pin - it was just a laugh, and better than including all the quotes of people talking woodies. Onwards! Continuing september 1 2016, @Jamberoo Fan gave us his first major prediction: @Santa07 made a few suggested improvements to Lewa's Flash: I guess you can't have everything, but I will say - the trims are completely unnoticeable. On September 6, @Richard tried to prompt an end to the "launched or lift hill" debate: September 10 brought us @Adventures With JWorld's latest conversation with the Dippin Dots guy: @downunder shared his thoughts on Mack: @Theme Park Girl weighed in on the discussion, pointing out this "fact": Community Leaders started to report extreme forum fatigue - with @joz and @djrappa commenting on September 11 2016 (more than a year before the ride officially opened): And unfortunately Richard ultimately didn't succeed, with @XxMrYoshixX sharing on September 12th: In regards to when an announcement would be made, @Brad2912 pointed out: @Santa07 drank the dippin dots kool aid: Page 30, and September 26 saw numerous people making predictions on what it would be. I made my own prediction: ...and I think I win. Wrapping up page 30, @Santa07 gave us this one:

DC Rivals - Construction Thread Best Quotes
On August 29, 2016 - @Skeeta began what will forever be known as the longest 60 days in theme park history: Woodies were the hot topic around the end of August, but they didn't get much love. @pin142 made a bold suggestion: September 1, it was time for Theme Parks a Go Go to break the news exclusively with @joz alerting the boards to the news of Mack crates landing at Movie World - @Skeeta was quick to point out that not all news outlets were as savvy as TPAGG: @downunder also contributed a statement that would be repeated many times over during construction: @Brad2912 was on the money: Discussion then ensued with several members - @mba2012, @MaxxTheMonster, @Reanimated35, @Santa07 and @Luke all betting on a Flash themed launch coaster, before @JaggedJanine gave us: September 1, and Page 20 of the thread wrapped up with @Jamberoo Fan making his first contribution regarding the announcements - although as yet, it wasn't fridge worthy:

And after 10 pages of discussion, with people still debating manufacturer and model, @Reanimated35 said: @joz quickly replied: @XxMrYoshixX nailed the opening time back in August 2016: By the end of August, we had chainlink fencing on site for the rear parts of the site. @JaggedJanine gave us this: Alright - that's 15 pages done and dusted. only 181 to go...

DC Rivals - Construction Thread Best Quotes
Almost 5000 posts were made in the Rivals construction discussion. Quote here your best bits, your funny bits, and those bits that all make sense now that all the answers are known. Link to the start of the thread is here I'll start - this is all from page one of the thread: If only he knew how much of a monster it was to become... Well.... i was partly right...posted in february 2016, the Mack Crates first appeared on TPAGG on September 1 2016 Yeah that didn't last long. Bingo. In March 2016, @themagician took a stab at both a ride type and a name. He got one right, and the other half right! Over to you guys... @joz's contribution: I've added a poll to this thread @Slick had this insight: Then there was the suggestion of an intamin giga, as suggested by @Boyden On page 5, @Smeg gave us this insight... Then @bladex gave us this one: No doubt whatsoever. Did @djrappa know something back in June 2016? Nobody will ever know.... @Cooper Olsen gave us this one: Whilst @Brad2912 missed the mark again: It really is crazy to see how many references to Mack there actually were, well before any official confirmation was to be had - another one from me: It was July 2016 when fencing first appeared around the lake precinct. @Reanimated35 took the opportunity to trumpet his previous prediction: Called it.

Hasn't that always been a bit about the park's theme though? working studio with sound stages...?

To be fair @Brad2912, at the time he asked the question, the thread title only said 'photography'. A kind Mod has added 'videography' to the thread title, but hasn't commented to advise of the change.

Take a look at Eureka. Now look at blue lagoon. Back to Eureka. Return to the blue lagoon And back to Eureka... That mountain over at Eureka that they're currently demolishing is highly likely what Blue Lagoon would look like now.

Backwards row - DC Rivals HyperCoaster
There are already poles set up in the queue area for just this reason - how you overlooked that, I don't know..... But seriously, clearly they wanted to open in time for holidays, clearly they ran out of time, with work going well into the night to finish the precinct off. Perhaps they couldn't mount the shade sails until the concrete had cured? It's like you ordered a new Mustang ( ) and the fluffy dice you ordered for your rear view mirror weren't in stock, so you throw your hands up and condemn the dealer. Seriously, they're coming. Just chill. The car is still driveable without the fluffy dice. AW had this same issue with Kraken - no shade sails initially and it was hot. Patience.
- Is DC Rivals HyperCoaster open today? How long is the queue? How many trains?

Backwards row - DC Rivals HyperCoaster
It's quite profitable for them to charge at this point, and they make a shitload of money running two trains. Allowing for wear and tear, the hourly take (on full seats) should actually make them a nice little profit - its actually an incentive to run both trains, provided the queues demand it (which should be anything more than 15 minutes). But agree with @Reanimated35, there is no way in hell people who haven't paid should get backwards just because it's empty. it cheapens the product. When I rode the other day, as mentioned, I got the first wristband of hte day, because the guy selling them happened to be right beside me when they announced it was open. Everyone made their way through the general queue, whilst I waltzed up the backwards row to the front. As we were being checked, the grouper let the next group through into the station, and I saw two people in the backwards row who didn't have wristbands. I felt cheated. I felt ripped off. I was all about to get indignant when the op came over to them and pointed them down to another row on the train, leaving the backwards row empty. I felt vindicated. *lol*. I'd like to see them reduce the price once initial demand has slackened - perhaps to $5 if it doesn't bump the queues too hard, or in the alternative, sell an 'all day' backwards pass for a bit more. I think after a while they'll probably drop the price entirely, which will reverse the queue strategies - making general queue much faster than the backwards row (a little like MDMC's queue currently).

I caught a video billboard on my way into work in Upper Mt Gravatt with Rivals on it, right before Logan Rd merges onto the motorway... hard to miss.... so it isn't limited just to the GC...

Cementing Movie World
One only has to look at Nick Land at SW. Not a huge space, got a few nicely themed kids rides in there that will keep them busy for ages. I took my niece and nephew there a few months back, and I was worried that there wouldn't be enough rides to keep them occupied. I was wrong. The space you've referred to wouldn't be a great loss, but to update it in a similar fashion to Nick land would really complete the park in my opinion.
