Movie World - Carnivale
So it was part of the old studio tour once upon a time? Did the scanners all still have the 'green question-mark spinning gobo?

Honestly? I'm going with "A" - i'd prefer reef diver and stingray. Here we have TWO HIGH CAPACITY attractions, that are a mild-medium thrill that many people can (and do ride). Now let's just assume it will be a power surge for the purposes of a comparison - Power Surge: 24 riders, manufacturer's height restriction 122cm (some are 132cm) Reef Diver: 40 riders, height restriction 110cm Stingray: 36 riders, height restriction 110cm So you're taking away two rides that younger kids can ride as they "graduate" from the kiddie rides, that can collectively handle 76 riders per cycle, with a mid-thrill that the whole family can enjoy, and replacing it with something that will eliminate kids 22cm taller than those who were riding Diver or Stingray, that can only handle 24 riders per cycle, with a high thrill that most parents would probably shy away from, and some kids would too. (looks to Liz.wiz for an opinion on that) (Edit: Liz has said previously she sticks with Dreamworld because they have the better offering for her kids - more variety at their levels etc - if DW continue to replace these "middle of the road" rides with extreme ones that are not only a much higher thrill, but also a much taller height restriction - I predict Liz may convert as the kids grow...) I mean don't get me wrong - replacing high capacity stalwarts with low capacity one-trick ponies is Dreamworld's thing - but the question was what would I rather. I'm not complaining that we're getting a new ride - but as has been said - if they stopped wasting money on these gimmicky one-trick ponies and just built solid attractions (even if we had to wait an extra year for each one) they'd be back on top again. They really are the Six Flags of the coast - except Six Flags at least recognised that the way to get people through the door was to build coasters (never mind that you can't ride them all in a single day unless you pay through the nose for it)

I figured the movers would be AOS (which is why I didn't even consider taking a stab with all that dust! So i'm assuming the scanners were Riddler's Lair? Can't even remember it? where was it? anybody got any pics or info?

They just flogged off a shitload of moving heads and scanners in their last maintenance lot sale, but they seem to do pretty well with lighting... just have to wait and see.

How so? Shockwave is a Disk'O Coaster - A power surge is nothing like it? Unless you mean the Disk'O Coaster, Air Race and now Power Surge implies a 'Zamperla' theme?

^i'm sure their staff would appreciate much more notice before they go out and look for other work make other plans.- Water-parks in Winter
I'm not sure they'd allow wetsuits? wouldn't it affect friction on the body slides? (aqualoop especially) but i find if you keep moving around (and not much waiting around) - and especially if you take a towel (take several and swap them out as they get too wet) and dry off after each slide - and you'll be fine. Be prepared for it to be cold though.- Movie World - Carnivale
Yeah I've got a feeling these daytime shows aren't involving any of the hired gear, and are more of a 'dress rehearsal' for them to get things right. Naturally when the hire gear arrives (if they're using any), they'll then set that up and continue running the day show to get the kinks in that sorted out. No matter what the system and who the tech, theres always a kink to work on... nothing ever works right first time without preparation.- Movie World - Carnivale
It is very hard for a stage performer to give faultless vocals whilst also dancing and moving around vigorously. studio recordings are usually done standing still where the performer can really concentrate on their vocal control. I don't think it's fair to criticise someone singing live - that alone takes guts. As for being ahead behind - are the performers wearing earpieces? It is possible for them to receive a wireless audio signal to an earpiece that helps them keep in time with the music from front of house... if they don't have IEM (in-ear monitoring), its extremely likely that they may just be relying on the speakers down main street - and sound takes time to travel over distance (especially that echo-ey tunnel) so they may receive their cues delayed depending on where they are in the park. (I have no idea your or anyone else's backgrounds [with a few exceptions] so i've explained this so any member might understand this explanation. If i've "dumbed it down" too much for your liking, please just roll with it.)- Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss
^well, thats better than announcing it on the day.- 2014 In Dreamworld - Tail Spin construction, Wipeout refurbishment, Triple Vortex construction
Is that just an opinion? History suggests they've got a good working relationship with Zamperla (who no doubt build plenty of SPINNY things) - Fabbri are (in my own opinion) more of a carny ride builder and are less likely the ones supplying this "thrill" ride.- 2015 VIP Pass
Well, according to the text from 'Movie World' if you do it before June 30, you get gold for FREE.- Movie World - Carnivale
^lol - i didn't even make the connection to dreamworld... "WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A RIVER AND WE STILL HAVE (AND USE) A BETTER PADDLESTEAMER THAN YOU!!!"- What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
My guess is they probably need the hole for access to the building (although it could be the 'new' entrance). I don't think it will be used to link the two attraction areas together - for starters - you block the path that leads further back, but also, you kill one of the vehicle access points to the park. Large vehicles like parade floats can only really enter the park in two spots1 - next to intencity and next to LTRR. 1(Yes, i'm aware of the vehicle access gates next to West, Arkham, JL3d, and the western perspective facade, but I don't think you could get the floats through any of them, and for most of them, even if you did you wouldn't get them to main street from that point because of the clutter [or rides] in the way)- Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster fire and lighting effects
That's quite a cynical approach. Given comments made by another member recently, i'm inclined to think Scoob is probably getting some love soon.- Movie World - Carnivale
HOLY SHIT! The similarities to the Mark Twain here are quite striking. The team have outdone themselves this time - that one photo is enough for me to want to check this out. I keep looking at this photo and all I can see is the big finale of Fantasmic with all the costumed characters waving streamers.... this is going to be great!- 2014 In Dreamworld - Tail Spin construction, Wipeout refurbishment, Triple Vortex construction
Fabbri are also italian and could be in the running, but I agree - Zamperla have the previous working relationship! Edit: Cooper just got in!- What will replace Looney Tunes River Ride?
Why buy shockwave, when you have claw? Why buy Cyclone, when you have Thunderbolt? Why buy Jet Rescue, when you have Sea Viper? Why buy Green Lantern, when you have Superman Escape? Why buy Superman Escape, when you have Lethal Weapon? Why buy Mick Doohans Motocoaster, at all? Some among us are hoping that with the introduction of Mini Cars, we might see them redevelop the rest of WB Kids, and we might see the end of Tijuana Taxis...- 2015 VIP Pass
That's ok.... you can have Euro Disneyland to look forward to instead!- 2015 VIP Pass
Well if you didn't get no email, does that mean you got some email? Nobody said it was an email - I did say (twice) that it was a text message. Perhaps you didn't provide them with your current mobile number?- 2014 In Dreamworld - Tail Spin construction, Wipeout refurbishment, Triple Vortex construction
to be fair with Gazza's design - the splash down area would probably need a little more space IF it were a raft slide. If it's a body slide, they probably don't need as much of a run-out chute - think Aqualoop style run-outs for a body slide.- $28m Splash Bay proposed for Hervey Bay

Well it seems like I was on the money (to be fair though, it was too obvious a concept for them not to do it) - from the Carnivale thread: And I received this text this morning from "Movie World" I assume a text-blast just went out to the entire VIP (or VIP Gold) membership. It's a nice deal, and i'm certainly taking it up - effectively they've just given me another night event for no extra cost... I would have liked to see them up the price for the pass though - it's still insanely good value even if it's $150... (Edit: Just saw the renewal details went out earlier as per the posts in the off-topic thread... still think the VIPs need a thread to discuss them as they do come up with quite a few variations through the year...)- The Off Topic Topic
VIP isn't currently Postcode restricted. Occasionally, they do a special reduced pricing for 'locals only' which usually doesn't come out until after December... but the current pass pricing does not have a postcode restriction - go to themeparks.com.au and try to buy one - there are no T&C's on it... - Adventure World New Coaster - Abyss
