  1. I'm with you on that one Reanimated. The blocking system is trying to keep a safe distance between each car as well as maintain a safe speed. Generally the heavier you are, the faster you go, so a car with 4 big guys in it is going to catch up to the one in front if it's got 4 smaller kids. The ride braking system ensures that you - 1. don't catch up to the people and 2. don't take the corner too fast for the forces you (and the ride) can handle. If you ever get the chance on a quiet day - ride in a car by yourself to see if you can actually trip the brakes on your own - or otherwise jump in with 3 heavy guys and play 'corners' as you go through the wildmouse turns... it's one of my favourite things to do and i'm not satisfied until I can get an almost total stoppage
  2. No tiger - i wasn't having a go at him - i was just pointing it out as a large ..... spider...that was an addition to the ride... sorry - tonality obviously lacking - Wasn't meant to be abusive towards you Magician.
  3. Wow - the spider has been there that long huh? There've been very minor changes alterations etc within the ghost train section - mainly changes to lighting more than anything else. The disco room has had several variations on lasers, from the previously mentioned green lasers hitting multiple small mirrors around the room to bounce the laser around the place through to the current 'multi-coloured lasers', and the addition of the giant spider and a red spotlight on the spider (which in my opinion killed the disco room altogether). The lifts previously had some nice red rope light (which I presume they took away and used on Bermuda - lol) which gave a nice little optical illusion as you went up the lift. In addition you could hear Daphne calling out 'Scooby.... Scooby Doo - Where are you?' - it was quite loud - you could hear it outside the showbuilding in the Lethal piazza. I'm pretty sure you can hear Daphne still but it is nowhere near as loud as it ever was... The theme music by MxPx was also MUCH louder than it is today too.
  4. ^What - you mean apart from the giant fucking spider?
  5. Ok - you have my attention... if you were asked to come up with the idea - how would you see the story theme go? I imagine if installed into the showstage the building would get a retheme as an imposing western style mansion of some sort? Or otherwise - a new entryway up the back near WWF so people walk 'downhill' to reach it when indoors? How does it go with nausea? Is it likely to upset equilibrium enough to make people sick? And what about re-rideability? is it always going to be the same ride (ala batman adventure) ?
  6. Ok that makes a lot of sense. Thanks guys! Wouldn't we all? There have been a few patch jobs over the years (and it is getting on in years) but I think the multi coloured lasers just don't have the effect the old green ones did. It's great that they've replaced them with new ones, but i'd like to see them once again aligned to bounce off the side mirrors, and create the two tunnel effects (one at the turntable - the other at final drop)... that said - Dreamworld is overhauling the 21 year old Wipeout - so maybe in another 9 years, MW can do the same for Scoob?
  7. ^I don't think another water ride (or water effects) is needed in that area - but I think the 'haunted house' idea has merit. Scooby kind of already does the 'ghost train' idea well enough though - so what else is there? We need a small footprint, totally enclosed (for the neighbours) attraction that can be easily fitted to a western theme.... Ghost train is out (SDSC) Astro-blaster style ride is out (JL) Realistically, the best fit for the western area is some type of coaster - either a small compact - like a crazy mouse or something that could be enclosed, or a nice little woodie out behind the show stage.... but I think MW is over balanced on coasters right now and needs a flat. The Showstage has sat dis-used for a while too, so maybe incorporate that. I know we've talked about the logistics of converting showstage into a ride space in the past, but it's not impossible, and for the right ride, it may even enhance it... So what's left in a flat that we could pop out there near WWF somewhere?
  8. ^...wouldn't be the first time they've done something like that...
  9. Interesting - As I wrote my last post I kinda figured that would be the case - which still leaves the question open - why all the fire alarms?
  10. Thanks Richard... seems like we may need those sarcasm tags back after all... Although I have no inside knowledge on anything to do with the ride or the issues experienced, I find it much more likely that issues with effects (say - smoke effects) may have been causing issues with the fire systems. Many commercial fire protection systems utilise particle-sensor type equipment, and the vapour generated by smoke-effects sets it off. It may be the reason we don't see much in the way of smoke these days? (a question - not an observation).
  11. So it would seem they may have commenced some actual work inside now... and the constant 'shots of an empty warehouse on social media' have led them to cover up... Whatever we get - it's good to see them working on it again.
  12. I'd say a good dose of steam was good for the plants and they thrived. Diesel exhaust fumes would kill more of your more delicate plants and clears the way for weeds to grow...
  13. nup - the building was fitted with a cantilevered roof so the entire building could vent any smoke within minutes. Coupled with the auto-reversing coaster cars that allowed the cars to back up in case of fire - there was never a need for the fire brigade to be called...
  14. Yep - I don't see any negative connotations to the name or the theme. Despite the reality of it - thats the supposed dirty dingy side of the event - hell - even Disney has to pickup the garbage - and they don't do it in gold-plated pumpkin-carriages. Their custodial staff wear white, and make them more approachable because they all carry park maps and showtimes... The only people who would think of the name negatively are those who have actually been - and for families thats a minority. Fiesta in my opinion is an even worse name - it's actual meaning is not a party - it's a feast. I have memories as a child going to carnivals at my school, at local community groups etc. In my opinion Carnival-E (the E gives the important Brazilian connection) implies (as i've said earlier) brightly coloured costumes, feathers, Brazilian drums, tropical mocktails (and perhaps some 18+ cocktails).... ...and that's what most people are going to think. Which one is more likely: Oooooh, Movie World is hosting Carnivale - I can't wait to go and get mugged in a back alley, do drugs and puke my guts up! Awesome! or: Oooooh, Movie World is hosting Carnivale - sounds like a fun party atmosphere in a family park that everyone can enjoy all night!
  15. ^I never said that! When you quote someone, don't put your own words inside the quote... I know what you were referring to but you stated village have decided not to keep their dark rides open when clearly they've literally just opened one a year ago. No. As I already said. I've a feeling we're looking at the unload exit section of the building. The camera is inside the unload area, pointing TOWARD main street
  16. Regardless of actually going to the Brazillian Carnivale, the theme and imagery of this event is featured prominently in brochures for travel agents, advertisements on TV and even in movies (even if some of them are stylised cartoons such as 'Rio'). Whether it is reality or not - this 'media' version of Carnivale is kind of what I envisioned also. As for the imagery put out by FoF in a survey - I contractually have no idea what you're talking about and as a result have no comments about the definite similarities between that and the previously mentioned 'media' version.
  17. But Sturt remained at anchor at the dock for some time without movement - why is it only now that the river is covering up? Presently it is used only as storage area for carts etc.
  18. Yes. It was such a shame they had to close Justice League. See below: I'm not suggesting this is to any sort of scale, but it gives a general layout. You'll notice if you look at an un-edited version of this shot (it's just google maps) you'll see that outside the 'main' structure, it has several 'lean-to' sections... you can see one of them on the right hand side of the building backstage - which is used as a maintenance store.
  19. Hence why closing Chinatown in the first place was a bad idea.
  20. i'm pretty sure the photo we're looking at (the one with the tarp laid down on the ground) is the unload section of river ride.
  21. ...i think we're all on the same page...
  22. Brazillian drums, brightly coloured feathers, party atmosphere. Considering the big event South America is gearing up for this year, quite appropriate.
  23. Yeah - Movie World isn't going to expand that far in that direction. There are still 'resident' issues to contend with, and nobody wants to walk 10 miles to get from one side of the park to the other (In that regard, SFMM needs a bulldozer) It is however a perfect location for a new gate. Since it's becoming a precinct of sorts, potentially they could look to include some sort of accommodation option as well... theres plenty of land there... Day at a park, dinner at AOS, sleep at the hotel... why not? Worked for Disney...
  24. Doesn't really look like much at all.
