  1. You're still young. give it time.
  2. Circling back for a moment - you're saying that if it's done well, it doesn't matter if the theme is a bit old or irrelevant, right? but you do realise we're talking about Dreamworld here? Do you honestly think they could pull off Disney level standalones? And using Dreamworks as a quality yardstick is fine if you're dealing with a global property, but I don't think the folks in Fortitude Valley have quiet the clout to be able to command Dreamworks level standards. *beats head against wall*
  3. You said 'anything'. My main point was the longevity of the theme. Bluey currently has 3 seasons. I noted this was a fairly typical lifespan of a childrens television show, with now-cancelled shows like Hey Duggee having a similar season and episode count. In fact, in May of this year, rumors were swirling that Bluey would be cancelled as the voice actor's voice was maturing. The official twitter account for Bluey was forced to address this to state "we have no plans to end it. If we ever had an update... you'd hear it from us first" (now where did we hear that before? #Monorail) Season 4 is believed to be in the works for release next year, but I guess plans can always change. As for your question - why did I bring up Peppa Pig? Well, as far as longevity of a theme, and suitability for a themed area in a theme park, Peppa Pig is a childrens animated television show that has recently opened an entire theme park themed to the franchise. Peppa has been around for 18 years with more than double the seasons and episodes. It sounds pretty fucking relevant.
  4. Madagascar: A little wild (2020) Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight (2022) Shrek Retold (2018) Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) I didn't say it was superior. I said it had more episodes and more seasons, and had just gotten its first theme park. I've never watched Peppa or Bluey, so I can't comment one way or the other. What I can say is it is obviously a successful pile of shit, to be in the position it is currently in.

  6. There's only one thing you're proving here.
  7. The past 5-6 years has completely turned the theme park business on it's head. Since TRRR, new legislation, new oversight, coroner's recommendations, and a desire for every park, inspector and engineering firm not to get sued (and the resultant increase in insurance premiums) has made everyone sit up and take notice. A lot of the downtime can also be attributed to a delay on parts and shipping. Whereas in the past, the park electrician might have cobbled together something to keep the ailing water pump running most of the time, now, nobody wants to take that chance and prefers to just keep the ride closed. So it could be the new owners, or it could be the new eras.
  8. What you say is true - i can't see anything else working - but this feels short sighted. Bluey has 3 seasons spanning 5 years, which is a comparable (total) lifespan to many childrens animated series. Is bluey just beginning or is it nearing the end? It'd be a massive achievement for an Australian produced childrens animated series to go the distance, but it's risky - and isn't that why the discussion turned to video game characters? Peppa Pig on the other hand has 365 episodes across 7 seasons spanning 16 years. At this stage the show is multi generational and has just gotten its first theme park. For mine, I wouldn't want to be forking out a bunch of money if I weren't confident the franchise had a few more years in it at least. Well, shit - let's just get Mr Doo-Bee from Romper Room out - retheme MDMC with giant flowers and you're the bees collecting the pollen to make honey? MDMC's queue walls are already great writing tablets - no chalk required! All of this talk has been a great trip down memory lane (are you there god? it's me, Margaret), but I think that for most of us, the fact that we haven't thought about these in You're right, but
  9. Agree, Sonic would be a far better property than Crash if you could get your hands on it. A quick look at the Sonic Wiki suggests that there are many licence holders out there but not anything specific to theme parks. Paramount are the current film rights holders, so its possible. Probably pretty expensive though given the brand's popularity.

  11. Aqua Racer was built in 1997. They replaced the slide pieces in 2017. Aqualoop was built in 2010. By that metric you've got another 8 years to wait for replaced pieces. Its a cosmetic issue. It doesn't affect the operation of the attraction and theme parks on the gold coast aren't exactly well known for fixing things just because they don't look cosmetically pleasing. If you think some sun-faded slides are the biggest eye sore across village properties, you're walking around with your eyes shut.
  12. I like yellow and hate white. Definitely diminished the experience for me. A white water slide is going to be a bitch to keep clean. Repainting Superman made it look better - but that was only compared to the condition it was in prior to the painting after more than 15 years baking in the sun. It looked like new - which is to say, it was returned to it's opening state, rather than any enhancement. You can't paint aqualoop. this particular point has been discussed many times, the slide is translucent, and painting it will pretty much turn it into the black hole with loops.
  13. If that's the case there'd be a lot more in-park closed than just Scoob. It's an interesting situation then isn't it? The ride is scheduled for a long downtime, presumably to refresh the attraction, and it suddenly goes down early, and they already know it won't come back up again before it's scheduled downtime means either there may be some truth to the theories above, or the ride has had a major failure that is going to take a long time to fix. (To be clear, i'm not suggesting it is unsafe, or that the failure is anything as a result of neglect - just one of those unexpected things that happens with rides occasionally that takes ages to fix due to supplies or whatever. It's the length of the downtime that makes it a 'major' failure rather than the detail of the failure itself).
  14. Probably because the front fell off.
  15. Does changing the ride from Yellow to White improve the quality, value, or extent of the attraction?
  16. What warp? Thats entirely normal! Haven't you seen Q1 on Sky Voyager?
  17. I thought the same thing. it's the same argument - the author hasn't identified their audience, and nobody has proofed it to translate into GP speak.
  18. If only there were some film students that needed some practice and experience in producing film\video media...

  20. Yeah, tailoring that to say something like "two hydraulic cylinders per seat for redundancy to meet even the highest Australian Safety Standards' would have been better. Overall there's a lot of jargon and technobabble in there like 'NDT Testing' and 'alignment of the ... ARB' shows the person who put this together has no idea who the audience is. It isn't a straight copy paste though - there are two different spellings for the word 'integrated'. Look - it's "nice" that they did this. I'm not really a fan of when theme parks 'pull back the curtain' but at the same time, i'm the kind of person that likes to peek behind it regardless. I think i'd prefer the little videos they used to do to a 'blog post' as consumption of video media tends to be better received (and it helps the people providing the content to understand how it will be heard as they'll hear "ARB" instead of "Anti Roll Back" and they'll reshoot it properly). I suppose its better than nothing and it does help to explain to folks why its closed for so long at one time - although I do suspect the damage has been done to the parks reputation in the peak seasons earlier this year. The comments on social from the masses tend to be 'everything is always closed'.
  21. Looking at Justice League’s maintenance period, it’s definitely not a Movie World thing…
  22. Maybe if you had, Jonny and Jenny wouldn't have been born and your problems would have been solved...
  23. In general guests at a theme park will check their common sense at the door. You can't expect a guest to show common sense inside a theme park (current and former cast members know what I mean)
  24. Wonderland had it in Billabong Grove, and i'm pretty sure the waterparks on the GC allow it too. But yes - when you've been giving away the gate for so long, you can't afford to allow outside food into the park because your $8 profit margin on 30 cents of syrup for a soft drink is where you make your money back.
  25. (Sorry @Spotty) This is an illustration of the Village Ops mindset that frustrates me. Have guests disembark THEN have them load and mess with loose items etc These two dot points should happen simultaneously. As soon as the train parks, open the gates. This is where you can improve efficiency. As long as the gates are secured and the platform clear prior to dispatch, who cares? ETA: My memory is getting a bit fuzzy, but I think@Gazza had a video back in 2014 (I think you went to Ohio?) and showed something like a 30 person suspended train unloaded, loaded and dispatched within 90 seconds. Absolute magic to watch.
