  1. Spot on mate - there's no gap \ trap here, but the lower siding compared to the checkerplate platform will create a small area lower than the rest. I doubt this ride is going far without a thorough risk assessment for every conceivable hazard, and it likely wouldn't take much to fill in that small section to make it the same height as the rest of the flooring.
  2. Trust is something lost in an instant, and it takes a lifetime to regain (and is never as strong as it was). The trust and faith I had in our parks in the mid-2000's has died and been replaced with a health dose of cynicism. I'll be very glad every time they pleasantly surprise me, but its probably a ways off yet before they've done enough to establish a new status quo.
  3. A long history of mental conditioning and bare minimum-ing. (You're right of course... Just answering your rhetorical question with truth)
  4. Everyone visiting (yourself included) are "GP" - but you're right, it is shoved into the back of the park and is easy to miss. It doesn't help that its a low thrill, low excitement, once and done ride that is mainly just an opportunity for the kids to "drive" a car. It's the RCT equivalent of a slide.
  5. Given that Superman went out on unscheduled maintenance, I'm just going to assume that perhaps Rivals wasn't finished, but that only non-essential work was scheduled, and with the loss of Superman, the park decided to bring Rivals back online to avoid disappointment at having both of the parks top coasters down at once. My guess is if Rivals needs anything else done it'll go down again once Superman is back online.
  6. YVAN EHT NIOJ! I would have loved to have seen them release something like this without the suits in the front row. Like - kudos to them, i'm sure they've played a massive role in bringing this all together but they're just nameless faces. I realise it's only a linkedin post but its still public and accessible. New phone, who dis? I wouldn't go so far as to say 'this brings it back'. It's a start... but they've spent the last 15 or so years removing every last vestige of movie magic from the park and replacing it with 'slapped on logos'. I will agree with you though that it is a 'step in the right direction'. If this is enough to get on your nerves, I know of a facebook group I can recommend for you... Yeah, sorry bud - but she's right. They aren't impersonating Mike Myers portraying Austin. They're just portraying Austin. Simply because Austin has only been played by MM, doesn't mean anyone else portraying the character is impersonating MM - Otherwise, Tom Cruise impersonated Mike Myers portraying Austin in Goldmember.... nope. Just an actor, playing a part in a movie, in a movie. ...And with all that said.... who cares? just call him "The guy dressed as Austin" and nobody gets hurt. You've said this twice now. I get the feeling you REALLY want someone to ask you what it is you know, but you're not revealing it either because you can't, or you don't want to. Either way, the nature of "I know something you don't know, but i'm not telling" on the forums here goes down like a lead balloon. I mean - Mike has posted it on his socials and tagged it with the park. Clearly the park isn't keeping it under wraps if management are putting it on socials so... i'd say this is your reveal...
  7. Every good theme park needs one. it's what all the guests want!
  8. A couple bonus add-ons for today - as far as I can make out, here's the layout for everyone who only sees a mass twist of timber. (this is my best guess based on the imagery, and is in no way official or confirmed - just thought it'd be a nice add-on for those without nearmap) And finally - the Elevation profile. This line starts at the rear of the station (the 119.5 degree bearing where the transfer track connects) and goes from there. It's obviously not super accurate - firstly because its hand drawn by me and I was lazy and didn't track the curves perfectly, but also because Nearmap captures the height at that spot so it doesn't allow for crossovers and any other track that passes underneath other sections. I found it interesting nonetheless as it captures the height and main drops fairly well.
  9. It's a bit more than six weeks old, but here is the latest Nearmap
  10. Don't all Airports have giant orange snakes sticking out of the top of them? *laughs in tower of terror*
  11. Let's be honest, it may be possible, but it's probable the maintenance dates will be extended again.
  12. Hotel V just makes me think of chintzy chain hotels that have taken over operation of previously 'premium' resorts - like how a Marriott or Hilton becomes a Mantra or Vibe. They overlay the hotel with cheap "cool" touches like adding cool millennial slogans to the toiletries, but the furniture is cheap, the cleaning is sub-par, and you realise when you check out that you really do get what you pay for.
  13. I think my favourite part is that they're embracing the fact that the ride is gonna make people scream. Meanwhile all the residents are pouting.
  14. Ultimately, I feel if LPS is to be allowed to grow, I think there needs to be conversations about a boardwalk style expansion: Naturally this would be met with large opposition from Lavender Bay residents and similar - however as it seems the park has the full support and backing of the NSW government, we shouldn't totally discount this as an option (although, nautical access to the sheltered bay should be maintained for the many moorings. An expansion into the mouth of the bay, perhaps with a partial sea-wall, might even benefit the moorings and provide more shelter from rough weather.
  15. Taipan is an LSM launch isn't it? Wasn't ToT an LSM system also? And didn't they used to have heaps of trouble after rainfall, and have to go and dry off the launch tracks before they could run it again? isn't that part of the reason why they built the big tunnel for TOTII? It's been a while, but i'm pretty sure that was one of the big issues for TOT prior to the backwards refurb - someone please correct me if i'm wrong?
  16. But there's only eight balloons? (Wonderland fans rejoice.... Boo Boo's Balloon Race has returned!) Just in case anyone was wondering where Dronkey's Flyers ended up... Who did it better?
  17. That's my point. Don't go after the "arcade" market - be something more than just a bunch of pinball, skiball, and daytona machines with dodgem cars and laser skirmish (and bowling alleys?). Have really unique, not available at your local westfield attractions, like they did at the larger outlets - not the ripoff timezone arcades with intencity branding that still exist today.
  18. It wasn't smart assed nor Backhanded. I legitimately pity anyone who has had the unfortunate experience of Golden Week in an asian theme park. I really, legitimately felt sorry for your experience. Pretty much the worst time i've ever had in any theme park has been as a result of mainland chinese visiting hong kong.
  19. Someone please research the Intencity installations in Sydney - in particular Parramatta and I think the other one was Hurstville or maybe Fairfield? Chameleon, massive VR sims, legit cockpit motion base flight sims... none of this 'dodgem cars and a claw machine' business.
  20. The general idea is that these guys DON'T collide with each other or other objects causing damage, but as these cars are only on stage, and not used for street-legal work, you can economise on the most commonly damaged items - bumpers - by using simple "clip on, tear off" style parts that are easily fitted and cost little. SMash repair is far cheaper than mechanical repair. Its mostly cosmetic stuff that's easily patched and painted overnight. Why do they need to cater to non-english speakers? And regardless, why does a show have to be so dumbed down to be understood without the dialogue? I've seen Disney shows and attractions done in Japanese and Cantonese and I was able to follow along with them just fine without resorting to slapstic exaggerated garbage. THIS. 100% THIS. Most of us do. Unfortunately, (and i'm sure what you meant) is that few decision makers would do so. Nobody is gonna admit their own product is shit when they've served it up again and again calling it world class. They need gordon ramsay to come in and kitchen nightmare the park and tell it like it is.
  21. Just like Big 4 Helensvale too - whose only real selling point is the close proximity to the theme parks, offers both cabins and campsites - and offers some really awesome waterpark facilities on site. (I mean, the site floods too, but then - so does movieworld!) 100%. Amenities and facilities are still needed, but its a lot less than a multistorey hotel.
  22. The 'tourist park' is a great idea. The caravan industry has exploded during covid - wait times for new vans have blown out - so there's going to be lots of holidaying families preferring to park their van, rather than hire a room. It's smart, IMO.
