  1. They aren't trying to flog off the business at a premium right now.
  2. When Rivals was being built, containers would arrive, be unpacked, and constructed, and then more parts would arrive. By all photos, a significant block of Dreamworld's carpark is already fenced off to house parts that have arrived, or will already be in transit. Until such time as they commence construction (and assuming the ones that have arrived would have been the first ones constructed), holding back some of the last pieces until they know when construction will commence is probably a smart move - otherwise, they could well end up with the entire carpark filled with coaster parts... Remember, as far as we know, the footings haven't been drilled yet, and the collars are still in the carpark, so we're a ways off vertical construction yet - maybe that 30 day voyage time isn't such a big deal right now...
  3. Hey - that's a decent effort with basic image programs - it illustrates it nicely - only problem with that is I think the Steel Taipan (or whatever it will be called) is going to occupy a bit of that space, isn't it?
  4. the January valuation was probably elevated by a long-running bull market.
  5. According to the 2019 VRL Annual Report, Clark Kirby received approximately 8% of his annual remuneration as shares under a long term incentive 'executive share plan'. The report specifically states that Clark was allotted 200,000 shares for the 2019 year alone, valued at $2.50 a share. Obviously they're valued at a much lower amount now, and Clark likely holds more than 200,000 shares - but that tranche alone would be an extra $24,000 if the $0.12 premium was paid. Its important to note that not all execs receive shares as part of their remuneration, and shares aren't paid to execs every year (for example, no shares were allotted in 2018 according to the annual report), but for those that hold shares, it is a fair point you mention @pin142 - there are substantial amounts to gain for many investors, if the parks can open early enough to qualify for this additional offer price.
  6. Its a great article, and i know he put a lot of effort into it. I certainly would. 👍
  7. Sand could only ever be placed in non-guest accessible areas. Its difficult to contain, and any guest traffic areas just results in the sand being spread or lost halfway around the park. Log ride area is flood prone and probably not the best place to build what you describe.
  8. Yeah well, MW and DW both have a similar coaster built or being built... so the obvious recipient is SW.... I'm sure you didn't think I thought that was the case... but if funding is approved - it doesn't matter if its cash - its just the rules around how it can be spent. Of course gov advertising funding can't be used to buy a new ride, but god damn it'd still be a better use of the money...
  9. what a load of crap. just buy another Rivals, and spend $20M on advertising - that's a much better use of coin, and will bring more in than another $30mil in ads!
  10. 🤣 "black" I'll start... it's called "monument" https://colorbond.com/colour/monument
  11. There are only 4 Covid cases in hospital in queensland, and only one of them is in ICU. For those of you with wives - rest easy.
  12. *sigh* @Richard can we please have the sarcasm tags back? Footings! Pedestal! Footerestalings!
  13. That is all very true, but a posthole digger, and a couple bags of quick set cost less. Plus, if the footering is for some reason not in the right spot, its a lot easier to move a small hole than it is to break a large slab. You'd wanna hope they surveyed it correctly - but i guess also, woodie footerings are more forgiving than steel ones. My first thought was the sand would require the slab too. water dripping off every support, plus sea-breezes would easily undermine small footerings, so whether its how GG does it or not, a large slab kinda makes a lot of practical sense...
  14. It seems crazy that a man-made environment inside of an amusement park would receive such protections.
  15. And they had commenced construction on their 'adventure river' too. they need a wet ride. they need a replacement to substitute RHLR and TRRR as a fun, family, all ages mild thrill you can get wet on.
  16. Dreamworld doesn't need more than four across seating. - Designer of Creature Cruise and 'head of engineering'
  17. Expedition has a habit of clickbait headlines. Likewise, they're also pretty nasty thieves - stealing work other people have done and just rehashing it with their own brand and logo. Its not a direct copy and they obviously do put some work in, but little research is their own... I encourage you to watch this.. if only to identify his source material in the credits, and to go and give those sources your likes, comments, subscriptions and praise.
  18. Who died and made you mod? The last thread didn't stay on topic, and this one probably won't either once things have been discussed to death. That's not a scrim, thats TFH\ATF. its temporary fencing. I'm not 100% but i think worksafe rules require the fencing around the ride envelope when the usual safety barriers may not be in position, even if the park is closed, to prevent anyone not meant to be on site from entering the work area. I'd look to Skeet for confirmation, but he seems to be AWOL.
  19. 1943, war-era sydney is not the 2020 sydney of today. You don't need to store 8 car passenger trains on prime harbour-side land... ...But you might as well because the entire siding is protected under NSW Heritage listings: https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/heritageapp/ViewHeritageItemDetails.aspx?ID=4801022
  20. ...because he's the latest in a long line of people to firmly and publicly state Arkham won't return? I don't know what the latest playground lingo is mate - but here, it'd be really sick if you could talk normally - you know - like adults do.
  21. Can you see a screen somewhere i can't?
  22. It's all green screen, so if Leviathan doesn't happen they can always reuse the footage for another coaster... Its not like track accuracy has mattered before....
