COVID-19 & Theme Park Closures
I’ve read enough of his style of writing that I’m not even going to doubt that this is Bikash. It 100% is. For the record, regardless of any difference of opinion or personal feeling, having a VRTP park executive as a registered and contributing forum member is something we’ve called for for 15 years here. Putting personal feelings aside Bikash, I do hope you stick around on the forums to converse and discuss with others here. I’d very much like to have my personal opinions of you proven wrong, and I hope you’ve joined to engage with the community who love your parks as much as you appear to, and not just to have your rebuttals. while we know Parkz is watched by the local industry, a two way dialog is always better than an echo chamber, and hopefully you can be the start of a dialog the likes of Mark Shaw or The Real Belinda Brown. I guess time will tell. as an afterthought and somewhat on topic - can you tell us whether there is any hope of Fright Nights this year?

COVID-19 & Theme Park Closures
Regarding upfront, the post was removed, and in its place Slick posted a very long and thoughtful post (including time stamps and a commitment to update it as things developed) with a vague footnote about doxxing, which I know some people had to google. what I mean is - acknowledge the actions upfront. It’s a couple sentences which explain where the admin team is at rather than pretending nothing happened except in a vague footnote: “Guys, things are getting too personal and we don’t feel this is suited to Parkz. We’ve removed the whole thread for expediency rather than spend all night filtering all the bad words. We may restore and move the more valuable contributions into this thread at a later date if we have time, But for now, removing the thread was a quick fix to put a stop to the crap that was crossing the line. If anyone wants to continue the personal attacks, take it elsewhere as it doesn’t meet our guidelines. contact <admin> if you want to discuss further - don’t derail another thread“ I mean shit - I’ve already drafted it for you, so now all you gotta do is copy paste in the future. and ok, fair point on pressler/Eisner. So we can say Eisner ran the parks like a bit of a dickhead at the end of his tenure, but we can’t say Eisner is a dickhead? Gotcha. Yes I knew that that particular point has been there a while. I also knew something had changed, it just wasn’t clear what it was. my point though, was the point I was referencing was a catch-all. You can do as you please. You aren’t answerable to anyone and it is your private site. And we can’t complain. all we can do if we don’t like how it is being managed is choose to use the service, or not. The addition of the “private info or doxxing” is interesting. I know, for example that Push was doxxed by someone once, and his profile and IRL name was published, and later removed. that was bad. likewise, I had to private message a moderator after they doxxed me - that is, they used my IRL name on the forum also. It was quickly rectified and I’m sure minimal damage was done.”, which I appreciate. i don’t know what information was shared or about who overnight (I’m rarely active outside daytime hours), I just hope we aren’t giving the definition of doxxing too wide a definition. I came up with several examples to demonstrate my point but each draft could be taken to be inflammatory or argumentative and that’s not what I’m trying to do here, so I’ll leave it at that and if anyone wants more info about what I mean, feel free to PM.

COVID-19 & Theme Park Closures
On the contrary - take a look at opinions shared about Pressler, Eisner et al. Enthusiasts and fans alike have oft criticised the people that lead the organisation responsible for their passion and pasttimes. It's not about personality, its about actions. And the actions of park executives, how they respond, react and handle a health crisis affecting their industry is extremely relevant to the running of a theme park. But, since the updated Parkz terms and conditions say you can do whatever you want to (and really, that's always been the case - its a public forum but its privately owned) we can't really complain. The issue I take with these actions (and yes, I understand there's a lot of time involved in moderating and administering such a large community) is that, just like last time when you shut down off topic or chit chat or whatever else forum it was, we all took issue, and voiced our dislike for those actions, and the biggest issue taken was that these steps were taken without any form of explanation. Now, acknowledging that which I said above - its a private site and you guys can do whatever you please - communicating the position you're taking up front, instead of after everyone has had a whinge is a great way for people to stay on side and support what you're doing - to make life easier for you. As you've said "above is more of the same"... because you created a vacuum, didn't explain the issues as to why, and didn't leave anything to fill it with (Slicks "timeline" didn't really fit the bill)... why does that sound familiar? Well colour me psychic...

COVID-19 & Theme Park Closures
Seriously - I loved the 'small guy in a big town' success story, working as a waiter in SWR, working up the ranks to get to the position of top dog. I had a lot of respect for someone who can achieve that. But the higher he rose, the more public his profile, and that's where things started to go awry... Genuine public comments from people commenting on media articles about Sea World's new attractions, and seeing him berate them for what is in essence, their own opinion. Most of them probably don't realise what role he has within the organisation. The latest articles, where he is quoted saying they needed 5,000 to be profitable, and that they government should be letting larger companies have more people in the parks just shows, in my opinion, the words and actions appear to be someone who cares more about profits than their guests. Now i'm not saying that's who he is, i'm just saying thats the appearance that his words and actions are giving. And if I may quote a forum moderator - some media training could probably help with that. If he just ignored the haters, and set about proving them wrong, instead of acting the blowhard and the bully, he could probably change many people's negative opinions and earn the respect you suggest. As has been said (in a now invisible thread) - our parks should be leading the way in showing other businesses what steps they can take to increase the capacity limits by ensuring certain protections are put into place. Now is a time to show how much you care for your guests - not to criticise your customers and show contempt for the actions of a government that are on par or better than most governments management plans around the world. Thank god we aren't in Italy, South Korea, China, or the United States, and we've kept the infection rates low. That, and our isolated borders mean we should be able to confidently reopen, and STAY open without having a second wave like many places around the world are starting to see. Again, to quote another - god forbid pressure on state or federal governments gets our parks exempted from the rules everyone else is following only to have a massive explosion in infections shut them down again and shatter whatever post-TRRR community confidence they hold.

COVID-19 & Theme Park Closures
Agree - whether it is true or not, the disappearance of the entire discussion (which would be great to reflect on for certain dates and timelines later on) smacks of censorship to appease park management. If we can't criticise or hold to account the very people who are in charge of our parks, will this forum turn into a bunch of yes-men administering some sort of unofficial fan club?

What’s next for movie world
Warner Bros own the Hanna Barbera IP. The problems you have with this idea are: Movie World isn't owned by Warner Bros. It's owned by Village Roadshow. To use Hanna Barbera, it would cost them to licence it. Hanna Barbera today is largely unknown to kids these days. Older folk remember it with nostalgia but that is not a surefire way to build a new land. You'd be better off licensing Nintendo land. Well, no, they'd have to demolish the old one first... but once that's gone... Why not? Why would you leave vacant, usable land just sitting there if you were ready to build something else? Is there a grieving period after a coaster is torn down before you can build on it's grave? Also, please learn about full-stops and paragraphs. (hope that doesn't sound rude) Same rolling stock, so same 'train' as such - just different seats \ restraints. To be honest, the Kumbak seats and restraints were much nicer than the original Vekoma restraint, and Arkham is one of the nicer SLCs to ride out there because of that. Its been suggested the Kumbak upgrade has killed the coaster, but I don't think the Original Vekoma setup would have allowed the ride to survive this long as it has. As I understand it, there's something in the control systems of the ride that has a major issue, and they can't figure out what it is. The cost of what they've done already is apparently more than they were comfortable with, and the next step is entire system replacement, which is too costly - so Arkham's gotta go.

Steel Taipan Construction - Dreamworld Mack launched roller coaster
You just said it would be hard! Now you're saying impossible! I'm not suggesting the customer commissions the ride themselves, i'm suggesting locals with presumably similar complex plant and machinery commissioning experience may be able to perform certain tasks under direction and\or in collaboration with Mack teams remotely. Pretty sure I already said that.

Dreamworks experience replacement
Nope. To be honest, we've seen way crazier thread-creation-records here on Parkz in the past. If the threads are engaging, why not? if they aren't - they'll die quietly like a certain TV channel changing 7 years ago thread that was recently created... The thing about that - is if they don't have a presence in the market, this gives them one. There's no Universal in Australia, so having Dreamworld host Dreamworks (which is quite fitting) is a way to keep your product relevant in the market. No doubt there will be a termination clause should they decide to bring the product to Oz under their own banner, but until such time as that happens, its a great way to keep the characters relevant. ABC and Wiggles are targeted at the younger demographic. Toddlers to 4yo. Dreamworks is for the older market. You can't expect 6-10 year olds to enjoy big red car - and ABC and Wiggles came AFTER Nick Central \ Dreamworks. They were complimentary - so they can't be a substitute. If Addams Family (two d's) is under the Universal banner - then what makes that any more or less attainable than Dreamworks? they're all in the same stable, so why not just keep Dreamworks since its already themed and built and save a bunch of money?

What’s next for movie world
Then you sir, have no appreciation for the acting talents of Bruce Spence! Welcome to the boards man. enjoy your stay. Just a tip - this isn't a chat room, or whatsapp. Check out the guidelines as its really useful, and is less likely to infuriate others: Water world? trucking rigs? Sea World? See also: HWSD2 Yeah ok but you're wrong about the movie. @pushbutton? Seriously though - this discussion has been had to death. When you have a limited budget, and you need to choose between saving for that new big ride, or creating a show that may or may not succeed (i'm looking at you, HWSD), the ride is going to win every time, because despite what 'not everybody' wants, the vast majority don't care about shows. most people see a show once or twice and then skip it unless there's something new, or they've brought a friend to the park who haven't seen it. Unless of course its a Universal \ Disney show, which of course has better repeatability. Rides, people will flock to every. damn. time. If the non-riding nancy in your group doesn't want to ride, they can watch the ride - we don't need more shows and parades. we just need to make the existing ones better. (although Movie World seriously needs to spend the coin on turning showcase back into a ripper of a stage show. host a magician to do 'movie-esque' illusions, or something. Just please no more costumed characters dancing to prerecorded backing tracks.... Do you mean loosely as in, released at roughly the same time so they slapped a movie poster on the wall leading up to the ride? Because the ride has absolutely nothing to do with the antics of Jim West, Artemus Gordon or Dr Arliss Loveless. (And thank god too, because that theme would MOST DEFINITELY not have aged well....)

Dreamworld's hot dog stand lives
Uhh... yeah - anyone who rode Giant Drop could see it has been there for some time, and hasn't moved in a while. And that's all without breaching the distance rules for drones around dreamworld tower too.

What’s next for movie world
Most kids don't know what hollywood stunt driver is but.... oh yeah fair point. Police Academy was long in the tooth even in the mid-90's, but it still lasted for well over another decade. Relevance to the kids doesn't matter if the show is actually good. As a community leader Gazza, you'd know that one of the functions of the forums is that double-replies posted quickly one after the other are merged, provided nobody else comments in between.... So this part of the post i'm typing now is typed after i have submitted the first reply, but the forum software will merge this comment, provided nobody else has replied. And this is another reply i've typed after submitting a second time to say 'damn auto correct, ooops', but still merged by the software. Ok he couldn't figure out how to edit his post, but its actually quite easy to have the posts auto-merged without even meaning to, to have the 'auto correct' comment appear in the same post, while still being unable to figure out how to edit the original post. Final comment to be merged in after pressing submit reply 3 times now - as a community leader, instead of haranguing the guy, you could always just edit the post to help the guy out, and helpfully point out the edit functions, rather than continuing to treat him like an idiot because you didn't know the forum would merge two separate replies...

I've never seen it either, but how many coasters have you seen arrive during a pandemic that put the entire country into travel restrictions and lockdown? Right - none. So you can forget standing on precedent, because, as every public official from the town hall janitor to the PM himself will (and has) told us all - "we are in unprecedented times." I have, on the other hand, seen coaster parts arrive at parks overseas, and never be built. So this is a first, and with firsts, come things out of the ordinary - like parts arriving, but not immediately being constructed, because while some construction is continuing right now, other work isn't. And even if construction companies are allowed to (and want to) work, the fact remains that it also required Dreamworld to be able to pay the workers - which may be in the air given they all put their projects on hold a while back. We've seen many businesses come up with really clever ways around the status quo. things that used to be done face to face and in person because they couldn't possibly be done any other way are suddenly being done other ways out of necessity. Mack are a really inventive bunch and while it may not be necessary, if it were to become necessary, i'm sure they could figure out a way to commission their rides remotely or by proxy if they had to.

Shouldn't you be a moderator of the forum to give a shit? This thread is older, and is titled 'new roller coaster for dreamworld' which, of course, is what these supports are, whereas the thread you link to was created more recently, and relates to the timeline for the coaster? Are supports related to a timeline? Are you a moderator? Does anyone actually care at this point besides those who get upset by megathreads? Shouldn't you have created a new thread to talk about something off topic?
