  1. "I'll infect 5000 people a day before I let this company die"
  2. I saw a comment from someone last night that made a really good point - rather than whining that the limits aren't high enough for them to be profitable, they should be leading by example - collaborating with the government on what measures and what steps they could take that would allow them to open to a profitable capacity level. All levels of government have indicated that a larger number of patrons is allowable with an appropriate covid management plan, so maybe the parks need to come up with a plan on how they'll manage large numbers - then they can have as many people in the park as they determine they can safely manage under the plan, and if they can't get the number they need to be profitable, then they've shown why the government won't let them have a big number. Just because you're a big business, doesn't mean you should be exempt from the rules... but it does mean you are better equipped, and more able to afford to put in a management plan that would allow you to trade with larger numbers. So stop whining, and actually lead the business you're paid millions of dollars a year to lead.
  3. I really wanted to just say 'who the hell cares' - but then I noticed the opening hours... 8am to 8pm on weekends? ABSOLUTE GOLD.... (please let it be true)
  4. Errr... the info provided by the government clearly shows there are exemptions. And it appears you completely understand that... Anastasia Palaszczuk MP (facebook account) posted on 8 May at 14:08 the 'Roadmap to easing Queensland's Restrictions'. In the text of her post, she stated:
  5. ...And the ludicrousness of that thought is exactly why that's not going to be the expectation for the parks, one way or the other. If you take a look at the rules for the restaurants recently announced, it was specific to say '20 patrons' permitted, so the limits \ numbers didn't count staff. Likely that that would apply to the parks as well, and the population count would only apply to guests. Still doesn't make it viable, but the staff count is almost certainly not included. That may not be an option. Granted I heard it second hand, but the word I heard on friday was that ScoMo was suggesting Job Keeper could be scaled back as early as the end of May if reopenings go well. And that makes sense - the gov indicated september when the forecast was a 6 month lockdown, but now here we are 2 months in and we're already relaxing things? maybe we can save some money by ending the assistance early?
  6. The last I heard is unlikely until at least July.
  7. No, What you actually said was that you hoped the arrival of parts MEANT it would be named soon. I hope this means I win lotto. but that too is a ludicrous hope that has little chance of becoming a reality anytime soon. And i've no idea what gave you that idea, since recent history doesn't suggest that at all. As for whether parts arrival means anything at all, in the current environment, with the park shuttered, I doubt you're going to see any news from the park regarding the coaster, as marketing and PR understand that there's little merit in spruiking it while they're closed as it isn't going to do anything to increase profits, and only results in increased marketing expenditure with little return likely to be generated from it.
  8. I can think of a few holes to shove my footer in...
  9. What on earth gave you that idea? DCR wasn't named until vertical construction was well underway! we don't even have footers yet!
  10. From Mack, I believe. Dreamworld didn't necessarily get the other parks' coaster, they got their build slot. Whether they built the same or different was up to the park, and hence why we've seen the additional elements like the triple launch and spike.
  11. Oh boy! I can't wait to try and get to the park's new signature wooden coaster when it opens... if i can get past all the people watching their friends ride on Vortex... Damn, can that pathway be any smaller? *choke point!*
  12. There is no goldrush. While we're at it, what makes "Rocky Hollow" a Rocky Hollow doesn't really exist either. I also don't see you complaining about MDMC in the same main street colour scheme either. See, some of these are mistakes, and really basic, stupid ones. Some are nitpicks, and some are just 'what else do you want them to do?' I'd suggest that these maps were probably rushed through when certain rides were removed, because it was viewed as better to have an error prone map than to have a whole bunch of closed rides still listed on the accurate one. And there was probably plans to have a fresh new one debut with the new coaster, so why spend a lot having someone fix up the old map when the whole park is going to look different in a few months...
  13. Link? yeah, what he said^
  14. Worse than that - they don't have the staff to do them all at once - so if they aren't doing it currently, and they only start again when the park opens, then anything due can't open until it's done, and they're only going to finish 1-2 rides at any one time... plus catching up on the backlog means others that fall due either go to the back of the list, or are prioritised, which delays the ones still closed even further... - no, stopping required annual maintenance during this time is only shooting yourself in the foot. TL:DR They won't all be due at the same time next year because they can't possibly do all of the required maintenance simultaneously.
  15. 'squishing' sounds like a great way to kill people. All mechanical rides have certain required maintenance times. That date doesn't get an extension just because the ride hasn't operated for 2 months. Anything that was due for maintenance should not open when the parks do unless it's maintenance has been completed. For this reason, i'd hope that the parks would have kept their maintenance teams going throughout the shutdown, even if its at reduced hours to complete essential maintenance only.
  16. lol. I love that the creator of that actually went to the effort of changing the focal length on the lens. But, the AF-S Dx 18-55 was such a disgusting lens. Seriously, anyone who purchases Nikon should be shot, but before you shoot them, they should use that lens for batting practice.. eww.
  17. When you get to the colour debate portion, feel free to skip forward a few dozen pages. TL:DR - the uneducated masses will refer to it as 'fuschia' because thats what was told in a live stream, and the technical pedants will reassure you that the real colour is RAL4006 Traffic Purple. google it.
  18. He is both an asshole, and a nice guy. this isn't new information though - This info was also shared (probably by Skeet) back during Rivals construction too. He's just one of the few who retained it...
  19. You're an asshole! </s> Well it won't be rides that drive visitation.... so.. i mean maybe a new garbage can will drive visitation? Village Roadshow think rides won't drive visitation... that explains a lot.
  20. Yeah, i think you're a little off the mark mate. I bet you anything you like that support connects to the track though...
  21. He'd rather just disagree with everyone else.
  22. I must admit, I lol'd. thats a good one. So, had a couple hours to think about it all, and then read Skeet's latest, and here's where i'm at. I don't consider lego to be essential. But - as we've all seen from Hogwart's Castle, its a great way to keep occupied and while away the boredom at home. So, the lego store gets to stay open through the 'ScoMo Puzzle LoopHole'. So 'essential' isn't necessarily the definition many of us would give it, because we wouldn't regard some things as essential, and we probably need to look at a 'looser' definition (especially since anyone with employment is currently considered to be 'essential' that definition is getting pretty loose). I stand by my earlier opinion, that a few facebook theme park news sites (ooooh.... online journalists!) taking a minor detour to take a few pictures in an empty carpark doesn't cause any harm, and in fact reduces the risk of others descending onto the park en-masse, because it satiates the thirst we have for content in this theme park vacuum. Theme Park YouTube channels around the world are literally uploading videos recorded outside the park gates of many large parks around the world that don't have the first appearance of a new coaster parked up in the carpark. If these couple of guys' photos stop every other guy from going down, i'm all for it, and I reckon if they were polite, quick, discreet, and not causing a nuisance, I think QPS would probably buy the online journo bit and wave them on. As you say though mate, opinions are like arseholes. And I do hope Mrs Skeet stays safe through all of this.
  23. Why are journalists allowed to go and stand out in public places, and shove microphones into the faces of every tom, @Richard and harry? They cover it for the masses. I for one would like to thank the Jdude Media Network for bringing us this breaking news story.
  24. Is your wife in the habit of licking rollercoaster supports? Because if not, this shouldn't affect her. I get being cautious mate, especially with such a vulnerable person in your household. But shops are still open (including Lego) and people are still visiting them, whilst taking precautions. At the start of all this, people weren't taking it seriously and it was scary to go anywhere because disgusting people were germing all over the place. On sunday I had to go to bunnings for an essential item. They had several rows of carparks cordoned off. markings on the ground indicating spacing. and everyone in that line was keeping distance and observing the appropriate distancing requirements. I'm quite positive if anyone had attempted to flout those rules several people would have beaten that person to death with empty gas bottles. The public mood has changed. I've looked at photos posted by about 3-4 different sources now, and there's not one other person visible in the photos that I can make out. I'd say they're exercising social distancing pretty well. But what would you rather - 2-3 enthusiasts who are passing by make a quick stop, snap a couple of photos on their own and move on, or hundreds of enthusiasts who see a post saying 'containers on site' without any further photos showing what's there, whose curiosity drives them all down to go have a look see? These few posts showing what's there has probably stopped dozens of others going there for a stickybeak.
