  1. Yeah, plus its not like it's bondi beach with 10,000 other people there - the place is clearly a ghost town, plus since they kept the lego store open, there are people going through there regularly. A short detour to provide a much anticipated update to a large number of people who are currently unable to travel is harmless. Don't be such a sourpuss Skeet.
  2. Can vouch for the fact that Jdude does in fact work on the gold coast and live near brisbane. Dreamworld is directly on his route between the two.
  3. It's been there since at least November, but wasn't there in September... you do the math... As for whether the event will go ahead - I don't think they should, but I feel like Village will do whatever they can to 'satisfy' their obligations to make it go ahead..... even if they shouldn't.
  4. I've been on it once. Never bothered again - it wasn't worth the hike, especially hauling the raft.
  5. Spot on. I did see ground level pictures taken of this compound when the first timbers arrived. I thought it was Magician but maybe it was Jworld. I'm pretty certain its the track pieces and\or supports for leviathan.... 🤣
  6. I'm sure we can entrust our theme park operators to do the bare minimum window dressing possible to satisfy everyone they're doing all they can while doing the least possible cost-wise. I suspect they'll keep park capacity the same, put up some signs in the queues telling people to stay separated, but not actually police it unless one guest thumps another guest for getting too close. They 100% will not clean trains after every ride - its just far too labour intensive, and slow. you might as well not operate the ride. Honestly with WnW - (and i love that you're talking about parks in general but completely ignored White Water World), I think i'd prefer to go to WnW than MW when things to reopen - there's a lot more chlorine there to kill bugs. Just up the concentration a little and you probably don't even need to ask people to wash their hands - just keep them underwater until they've finished singing happy birthday... I saw around the traps today images of a park in China that had reopened, and locked out every other seat on its roller coaster for 'distancing'. I don't see MW going to that extent, but if they did, i'm sure they'd still find a way to argue that the rear seat on DCR was exempt because people facing backwards couldn't spread droplets forwards or something.
  7. hehe - I agree - thats specifically why i had that little dog leg at the front I have no idea whats behind it, but assuming it was part of first aid, I drew around it and just covered the thatched hut.
  8. Well, yes - I had intended the day (general) parade floats, but semantics. yes, some floats and seasonal stuff are in the warehouse... because Christmas Decorations don't like being exposed to the Queensland sun. (although, hot gluing 2811 LED strip to floats is just asking for trouble, really...)
  9. Who said anything about parade floats? No, LTRR stage is not used for parade float storage. And it's not 'prime real estate'. It was, sure. But the best part of that building is now JDS, and you've already accepted it will stay. Also, I've just highlighted a 3200sqm space that is arguably more 'prime' than the back end of a warehouse, and your answer to that is 'empty the warehouse!' ? #JusticeForChristmasDecos Besides, Movie World have shown they don't have a 'creative, thinking management' anymore. To be honest, having driven in and around the maintenance back of house areas (and into the 'warehouse' itself) I'm honestly surprised the park survived that long without a space like that so close to their other facilities, and until they relocate a large swath of their park services team elsewhere, that half of the building will not come back into public use. ...Besides - the stages they have available to them aren't being used that well as it is - the Showcase, while certainly a step back in time to a time when Movie World was actually about 'real' movie making, props and sets and the like, really isn't what the modern Movie World has set itself up to be... Although, if you look behind some of the black curtains, you can kinda see just how suited Showcase is to movie world - a really useful area that has been abandoned, and just walled over in order to continue on with something else - see also: Chinatown Alley, Lethal Weapon Shop, Lethal Weapon Cinema, Looney Tunes River Ride (1/2)... heck, I can't even remember the name of the food outlet in WB Kids (next to RRRC which used to be a show stage for the LT characters before RRRC was built)... now we can even add Intencity to that list which has been abandoned in favour of leaving some maze sets in place, derelict and unused for 12 months. I mean - we all know the real reason such a large, air conditioned theatre tiered seating venue with a full complement of audio and lighting systems got converted into a walkthrough prop exhibit.... the roof wasn't high enough to do motocross jumps in. ETA: Oooh! Just thought of another one! Gremlins Theares, AND the hallways leading to them!
  10. I came here to make a 'behind the screens' pun, but now I see it isn't.
  11. All great ideas Tbone, but I deliberately left out the other half-stage from LTRR behind JDS because the park is unlikely to be willing to give up such a great storage facility so close to their maintenance and storage areas. Sure, it'd be nice to have the use of it again, but realistically it's not going to happen. I like the idea of a step up coaster for those graduating the kiddie rides that could co-exist in WB Kids with RRRC (which has been ruined by the dramatically increased height requirements). Clearly shorter kids can ride coasters - because things like Spongebob exist. I think something like a Mack powered coaster would fit well in the highlighted area, and could be elevated above ground to give some great kinetic energy, and permit other areas \ attractions to operate \ exist around it, a bit like Ocean Park did with theirs... (Arctic blast operates with a 100cm [accompanied] height requirement)
  12. continued on from other thread... So, bearing in mind WB Kids is the only place in the park for the littlest members of the family, and the existing rides - Speedy, Tweety and Sam all cater to that demographic so well - what do you replace it with. You can put in anything you like suited to 'kids' (under 12), as long as you've still got at least 3 attractions for a toddler demographic. Here's your work area: I've included the splash pad... because its feral, but remember that you need to ensure a pathway is connected to JDS and Sam train (yep, just like in RCT, all rides need a path). Remember also that the laneway beside JDS is a vehicle access point into the park, at the very least for fire access, as well as maintenance etc. I've attached another pic below without all the measurements and markers so you can go nuts with it. Let's see what everyone can come up with!
  13. So, the whole area, except those four rides, leaving.... three rides to remove? Tweety, Sam and Speedy? Ok, i'll give you speedy. 100%. its a bastard, and JDS is a much better attraction for the junior drivers. Sam Train is one of the last well themed original attractions in the park. The 'toon style' set is so nostalgic, and the Zamperla train still shits all over the dreamworld tractor. It's a great ride for kids (although the carriages are just a bit tight for adults!) and I don't see any issue with it staying around. Tweety cages on the other hand - i'm a bit mixed. The cage is horrendous for an adult to ride (which they used to do, but don't any more). Without an adult to ride with, this cuts the youngest end of the demographic out unless they have an older (but still young) sibling to go with. Its a 'high' ride for small kids, and losing it would be a shame, especially when the replacement would likely be an off the shelf product with a colour scheme loosely related to whatever character they decided to theme to. (i'm looking at you, Patrick's Jellyfish Frenzy). But the Marvin Rocket set remains - (I don't know why they haven't done anything with that), as well as the taz car "parents room" space. The parents room space is well appointed (we've used it), but was such a waste of space to convert a kids attraction footprint into. So if they can work around Sam Train, and build just-as-good an area for the parent's room space elsewhere (i'm sure the warehouse could afford to lose a 3x6m space where the old LTRR queue line was), then let's remove Taz, Marvin, Tweety and Speedy, and let's do something fresh and new with that space...
  14. What sort of maintenance issues? All i've ever heard is issues with cable maintenance (and snapping) due to perceived lack of clarity in the manufacturer's maintenance manual (Xcelerator has had multiple cable snaps, and i think TTD and\or K-K had one or two)... but i'm keen to hear more about the maintenance nightmare, especially when by all accounts our Superman is such a reliable attraction.
  15. I'm not so sure about Scooby. The custom Wilde Maus coasters made by Mack were all (3) built between 99 and 02, with scooby being the last. All 3 are still operating, and the other two are outdoor attractions. The broader 31 Wilde Maus variety - the oldest operating models are the original 1996 installs, most if not all are outdoor models. Scoob has had a great life - always kept indoors, world class maintenance precinct, and it's just had a retheme (which they appear to have upgraded even more recently since reopening), as well as a full repaint of the facade. At this stage, although Scoob is one of the older operating models, its also the better weathered of the group. Based on the current operating status of the others (although, admittedly, the other two custom models are in Europa and Disney), i'd be inclined to say Scoob has some time left - until we see some outdoor models starting to fall, I think Scoob is doing ok.
  16. *facepalm*
  17. 2 weeks? You're only off by a little more than 4 years...
  18. Have you been in touch with some old friends @StingRay?
  19. ...because its really hard to get that taste out of your mouth? badumtss.
  20. @AlexB is always drunk skeet. @AlexB is always drunk, skeet. Punctuation is important. You decide, either could be true.
  21. I don't get what kids these days are doing. I don't see any emojis in what i quoted? what are emojis? I just do smileys. they're groovy.
  22. We used to have sarcasm tags on these boards. it'd be super great if these tags were restored.
  23. @themagician - do keep up mate! We're on page 17 of this topic, so its extremely unlikely the thread title has anything to do with the current conversation. in this case, as you can see, we're talking about Dreamworld's install, and obviously, there's no lake between the install site and the carpark. The other clue would have been that Leviathan is a wooden coaster, so generally, the track pieces are fabricated on site, and you wouldn't need as much space to store large elements. Pretty sure there's a few youtube videos out there that show how woodies go together - the space Sea World has made up near the old Corkscrew site is going to be plenty.
  24. I doubt that. Rivals took up almost half the movie world carpark. if track pieces had arrived, they'd be using the carpark (especially since its the closest point to construction they could store that many containers), and we'd have all seen it. If there is to be bailouts coming from State gov, the theme parks would be near the top of the list IMO - they're probably one of the large contributors to the state's tourism, and large youth employment to boot. That said, cue the rest of the state whinging about how the south east gets all the funding, without taking into account the balance of population and\or visitation.
