Throwback to those days where people tried to theme things to a proper 'main street' where a 'red zone' in American meant 'no parking'. I'll bet the people responsible for things like that have no idea as to the backstory or significance of it, and just keep repainting it because the gutter has always been red...

Whilst on the surface, it doesn't appear that they've done much - Every. Single. Set. Piece. Has. Been. Recreated. From. Scratch. Out. Of. New. Materials. While it looks the same, it's hardly "minor". While you only see the additions - the projection, the screen, etc - what you're not seeing is that EVERYTHING is new. Would you have considered it 'minor' to completely gut Bermuda Triangle, and replace everything with identical, but new copies of everything? I haven't seen it with my own eyes, so i'm only going off descriptions from others and the few POVs captured so far, so i'm not judging it until I see it for myself. I feel that some of the criticism seems like it is justified, some of it is enthusiasts being picky, and some is just downright ridiculous for anything but a Disney park. Sure, its absolutely not ideal that the ride was stripped for so long - but by all accounts this was due to a safety concern. Unless you're in the business of set design and construction, you can't possibly know how long it should take, or why it took so long if it took longer than it should have. How long did Scooby take to construct when it was first built? How much of that was actual track build, and how much was theming? We've seen coasters go up super quick - and in the soundstage, weather isn't a factor - so the actual build time would be quite short, yet, as I recall - construction took a fair while...

Level crossings outside of theme parks work the exact same way. Our family has a farm on the other side of a level crossing and if the train is stopping at the station, the gates will come down as it approaches, the train stops, unloads, loads, and then passes through the crossing - but the station is not a busy one, and most trains express straight through it. As mentioned above - its a couple of minutes a couple of times an hour. The system needs to be automatic. We cannot have safety systems that rely on manual intervention (ie, a train driver triggering it when he's ready to leave the station) because we've seen how well that worked on TRRR. There isn't enough space after the station for the train to roll on and trigger the gates before it reaches the crossing, and it isn't safe to roll forward, trigger the gates, and then stop to wait for them to close - as passengers (who are next to the station) may attempt to get off, which the driver may not see, which would be unsafe also. Bottom line is a few minutes waiting at a boom gate isn't the worst thing that could happen to you at Dreamworld - so perhaps be patient. I do think, however, that Dreamworld would do well to put some sort of activity or feature at that location for people to kill the time - perhaps little cutouts people can put their head through and pose for a photo? Maybe a train history board that talks about the history of the Dreamworld Railway? Just something to kill the time...

Yeah. I mean - it's not like he's shooting down the parks for building thrill rides which appeal to their core demographic, and whining when it isn't a dark ride or a walkthrough - that'd be absurd! Unless you're Disney, everyone can do better with theming than they do. We have no idea how much this cost, but the entire sets have been completely rebuilt from the original plans, and they've integrated new technology. By the sounds, it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but isn't it just like enthusiasts to bitch about what they get simply because they wanted better?

Adventure World MI4 - 2019
Coasters typically run polyurethane or nylon. It is entirely possible each car has a different combination of 'fast' or 'slow' wheels which might be impacting the roughness you're experiencing. In short, slight variations to each car may mean every car has a slightly different combination of each wheel type for optimal performance. Coaster 101 says it best: https://www.coaster101.com/2011/10/24/coasters-101-wheel-design/ It's also just entirely possible that as the wheels, bearings and track heat up with usage, and with sunlight, the ride experience can also differ from ride to ride across the course of a day as heat expansion absorbs the tolerances built in by the manufacturer (and is why on extremely hot days, Abyss is shut down).

Well, to be fair, you quoted it too - which is also reproducing it. Fair point - i'm no expert on the intricacies of copyright, you're absolutely right - however i'm not ripping someone else's video, slapping my own logo on it and then republishing it. Thanks for picking me up on that - good to know others have at least some interest in respecting other people's work.

You're spot on Red. There's quite a number of us around Brisbane who use synchronised pixels for Christmas. @Tim Dasco does too. I guess what i'm saying is, if its achieveable for one guy in his front yard, how hard is it really for a place like Movie World?

Maybe you should re-read, and perhaps not edit my post to suit your own argument. Otherwise we end up with crap like: *Note - i've not added anything to the above quote, just selectively deleted things to suit my own purpose In addition - Parkz doesn't claim anything in 'in park photos' as its own - the photos are watermarked the same as a news outlet, such as channel 7 might do prior to publishing. You'll also note if you scroll to the bottom of parkz, the following: My original comment "brand and copyright" weren't two individual issues. brand and copyright were meant to be read together. By removing the copyright part, you remove all meaning of my reply - as its your brand WITH the copyright that is in issue here (otherwise, wouldn't I have taken issue with every other video you've ever posted for reasons of branding?) I remember when I was in high school, and I used to steal other peoples stuff, add a little of my own stuff, put it into something else, and then slap my own little copyright mark with it, along with my name. Made me feel so awesome about how much of a pro I was. I didn't have the internet until senior high, so much of this stuff was seen by about 5 people, and hardly damaging to the actual copyright holder - arguably, it wasn't even on 'public' display. But you put it on the internet? that's a bit different. I get it - you wanna play big theme park media outlet in your spare time. good on you. I remember lots of kids doing that, many of whom were (and some still are) on these forums. For some, that Dream will Neva happen. They'll never find their Zen, no matter how much they try, they'll end up Defunction. For others, they'll grow-a-go-go, and mature, and develop their teenage fiddlings into a legitimate business angle-chat-live. There are several people in Our World on here who have done just that and absolutely Roached it... Obviously, its something you're keenly interested in and I wish you all the best of luck in succeeding in that - as the saying goes - if you can find a job doing something you love, you'll never work a day in your life... but I urge you - drop the baby in the sandpit routine of 'why can't i?', and take some time to actually read for understanding. Learn from the lessons of those who have been in your shoes, or seen others who have walked in those same shoes, rather than fire back weak argumentative responses.

not necessarily individual ones, although that technology does exist - those lights are still 'dumb' lights - the whole string is one colour, and the whole string may be turned on or off. replace them with RGB dumb string - by varying the power supplied across three wires (which can be computer controlled) you can make every light in the string change from one colour to the next. The next step is RGB Pixels - which receive constant power, with a data wire delivering colour and brightness information, allowing each and every lamp to be controlled independently of each and every one around it!

No it isn't Got it in one Nick, thanks. A few things that might help: Have a read of this, and feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it. Its important, if you're going to start stamping the copyright symbol over stuff that you have a good understanding of how copyright law works. If you assert a copyright over something that you have no right to, you can wind up in a fair bit of trouble - especially since 'public display or exhibition' these days constitutes "uploading it to the internet". Consider this, which has been in the news a bit recently: It is illegal, under copyright law, for a photographer to take the photo on the right. It is perfectly legal to take a photograph such as the one on the left. Do you know why? The safer thing to do with regard to the theme parks is to disclaim ownership (You'll no doubt have seen people disclaiming ownership of songs and such used as soundtracks to their youtube videos and so on.) To start with, stop using the park's official logos as part of the preview images and such - use your own brand, and give credit to the park if you use their images (ie: "image source: themeparks.com.au" or similar) Another simple way to get around usage issues is to comment \ news report, rather than strictly just filming it and showing it. It comes under fair use provisions - which is why news media can show footage. I think i've sufficiently derailed the thread - and now back to our regularly scheduled shit-show.

Beware of the Bawd Brothers
That's the Motz, and i'm pretty sure its always there, given that it generates the power for carriage braking, and is where the PA spiel is conducted from. The Motz barely seats 12 and will do little for capacity - it does however make a huge difference to wheelchair and stroller bound patrons. The issue is the passenger carriages - which are all alike.

White Christmas 2018
I remember when the christmas lights on main street looked amazing. It seems like these are being put up more sloppily than in previous years. I'm a little disappointed. I'd love to see them change it up. With the technology these days, RGB lighting wouldn't be difficult, and then you could integrate it into the parade too.

Since noone else has mentioned it - they're not 'just automatic doors' - they're an object within the ride envelope that can cause a collision with the car, or else cause the ride to fault if they aren't 100% reliable. If in doubt, leave it out. Thanks for the POV. I know the low light environment makes it hard to film, so kudos for doing as well as you did. FYI - (c) Parks on the coast - nothing in that video is something you can copyright - the park owns the copyright on every single part of that ride... and that applies to everything else inside the gates too - photography and videography inside the parks is for personal use only, and definitely not something you can slap your own brand and copyright over.

'Affinity' Animal Rights Protest
Not sure if you're poking fun at how unclean these hippies are, or if being serious. The park invites guests to enter the water during the show (granted, not that deep). Further - guests enter the water much deeper than that in animal experiences all the time. People swim in the ocean too... so not sure a few people entering the water is actually an issue to the water quality and filtration.

Whilst the buck stops with a CEO - is there really anything of value they could have contributed to an inquest? "why did you allow x?" "i wasn't aware" They are only going by what is fed up to them. even if they'd thought to ask 'are we super safe and ultra compliant with our obligations?' they'd get "yes boss - here's the report" or "no, some of the registration is expired, but its ok, because we haven't killed anyone yet and we should be allowed to self certify"... What is the CEO going to say in response? "Sure, ok - you're an expert who has been employed to deal with these things and that's your job and it appears you're doing it right - carry on!"

Yeah, i guess i see where you were coming from. Well, I'm sure compactors were used too... but i think for the layperson without a roadworks or construction background, land that wasn't, and now is, relatively flat, could be described as flattened, regardless of the tools or machines used to accomplish it. - Dreamworld / WWW Update
