Signage / website mistakes
I wouldn't necessarily agree it is a mistake. Given the heavily reduced speed of the train, the single operator, the need to manually open and close gates, 20 minutes doesn't seem like an unrealistic figure of the minimum wait. Of course, on any given day, it's impossible to say what the maximum wait time is, as not all people get off at each stop, and long queues tend to form around mid-afternoon, meaning you might have to wait several cycles before you get on...

Village Roadshow Theme Parks CEO Clark Kirby: 'We're really excited about the future of theme parks'
Thing is, many of what we would see as 'chinese' food wouldn't be regarded as chinese food by Chinese people - for example - Chow Mein, or Mini Spring Rolls, although derived from Chinese food have little resemblance to the traditional chinese dish from which it originated... Shit wait - did you have it at Alton Towers? Thanks for the backseat moderation. It was so desperately needed in the absence of a mod - especially since a mod hasn't visited this thread in ages.

No more locker hire fees on Superman Escape at Movie World
#notmykid. I couldn't put my kid in there - for one, the wife would likely stab me to death, for the other - the little houdini would probably completely destroy the locker while escaping, and then i'd have to pay to replace it.

Theme Park Maintenance Schedules 2017
Whilst some school holidays \ schoolies and such are happening at this time of year, i'm totally ok with the parks running maintenance right up to boxing day if necessary. Most tourist holidays start after christmas \ in January, not before, and locals are your primary market in the next 3 weeks.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. Sorry... give me a minute. Ok, i'm good... now.... You want to feed Asian tourists our Australian version of "asian food" ? The idea is laughable at best. Just like when I went to the USA and the locals suggested I just MUST go to Outback Steakhouse for a 'taste of home'. Ridiculous. (to be clear, i'm not lampooning the idea of asian flavours in the parks, just the concept that it would draw asian tourists... and as for a noodle bar....?) Theme Parks are about rides, shows, attractions. Restaurant dining, whilst certainly having it's place (take a disney look) aren't the primary reason most people go to most parks. Take dreamworld's parkway or whatever - and how practically dead it is. Nobody goes there just for the food. Our parks sell a lot of hot dogs. burgers. fries. Why? They're quick to eat, only require your hands to eat it, don't make much of a mess, and easy to dispose of. A noodle bar? Seriously? Not exactly something you can walk and eat, is it? Are you suggesting serve it on a plate? ie: you HAVE to sit down to eat? Or In one of those paper box things? Should they supply chopsticks to be authentic? Or some of that biodegradable wooden cutlery shit that doesn't work? With the exception of a premium product (most asian tourists won't buy in to that) it isn't going to work - to do it properly, you need a sit-down service restaurant, in a park where space is at a premium - you're not going to give ground to a concept like that. You need quick service food that is quality, and able to be eaten on the go without the need for cutlery, or a table and chairs. Sushi works because most Nori rolls are easily eaten on the go. I would like to see the parks move away from these ridiculous footlong hotdog types and bring in a more traditional BBQ Sausage on a roll. very similar food, but more 'Aussie' style.

I don't disagree with you on the WB Kids revamp, however in terms of thrill v family, just take a look at what's popular. Thrills sell.

DC Rivals HyperCoaster - soft open discussion
Clearly an unauthorised vid - looks like he may have had the chesty fitted under a shirt or something, and then set it to record as he was going up the lift hill... the fact that he stopped the recording milliseconds after hitting the brake run is also a dead giveaway. I've heard that this seems to be happening a bit on DCR as nobody wants to walk the lift hill to retrieve the item - anyone seen this \ know of this happening?

So you want them to BUY MORE LOCKERS and then you want them to REDUCE THE PRICE TO USE THEM? Is this making sense to ANYBODY ELSE???

Seriously - in 9 posts, you're already earning a reputation. We just saw the installation of a $30 million dollar rollercoaster - the single biggest attraction investment, and you're going to reference 'cheap coasters' ? More expensive doesn't mean better... and Flat rides are the filler that makes a park a full day. A park solely made up of gigantic coasters would exclude a lot of its potential market - and would go broke very quickly.

Cool. Go and edit the wiki and add them in then. That's where i got it from. Point is outside of seasonals, every film has lasted more than 6 months, which was the point.

Sea World - Castaway Reef 2017
Just because the pipes aren't part of the current construction, doesn't mean they couldn't do something with it - smoke, water spray... there's heaps of effects they could add to it that wouldn't cost much. The ship has probably sailed, but perhaps in the rush to get it open they've deferred that until the after-xmas maintenance? you never know..

No more locker hire fees on Superman Escape at Movie World
It's a case of supply and demand. Frequently during peak periods, there are banks of lockers that are sold out. Unlike dry parks - almost every guest visiting a water park wants to be able to secure their valuables so that they can swim. If they were free, then those people who do stash their stuff in their shoe \ backpack etc would likely take up the free locker option. Then you'd be on here complaining that there aren't enough lockers. (Because, of course you would).

Heres a nearmap image set spanning 2011-2017. This set shows the pipes in position over that time. In the bottom (larger) photo, which I included for those interested in looking at some of the pipework in the pool, you can see the shadow of those pipes cast over the shark bay buildings in the bottom of the picture. I also managed to find the pipes visible in a 2004 Shark Bay image from Parkz. Shark Bay was opened in April 2004 - ...and interestingly - this photo shows the tower during Shark Bay construction without the pipes - so it would seem that as some have suggested it is directly related to the shark bay construction! ...and here's another angle: and another:

Nobody can justify a multi-day fast pass to a park that on weekdays outside of school holidays permits everything to be done by lunchtime.

VTP Annual Pass Changes
Despite the 'price conditioning' of the past decade, I, and many other people I know (not all of which are enthusiasts) always felt that the VIP\Q150 pricing model was far too low, and ought to have been priced higher from the start, given the inclusions. Originally the Q150 was 'just an entry' and as it progressed, the VIP started having other benefits - night entries and so on, without much movement on the price. Those who expected to pay higher for what they were buying will stick around, satisfied the park has now priced itself more appropriately. Those who focus entirely on the bottom dollar and not at what they get for that price (hint: they're the kind of folks who leave comments on social media saying things like "we paid $400 for a family of four and...") are probably more pain than what they're worth. The percentage they lose because the price was reasonably increased will be offset by the reasonable increased price paid by those who see the good value in the product on offer.

I do wish they'd do something more with that island outside of these shows. Like seriously - it's themed to an abandoned airstrip!

With the exception of the seasonal films run at Christmas time - always. Adventures in the fourth dimension ran for 7 years from 1991-1997 Marvin the Martian ran from 8 years from 1997-2005 Shrek ran for 5 years from 2005-2010 Journey to the Centre of the Earth ran for almost 2 years from 2010-2012 Ice Age for almost 2 years from 2012-2014 Journey 2 ran for 7 months from Feb 2014 to Sept 2014 Rio ran for a year from 2014-2015 Looney Tunes ran from September 2015 to current. In the midst of these, they also ran: Polar Express for December 2010 and 2011 (during the Journey run) Ice Age Christmas in December 2012 (during the Ice Age run, so you could call it an overlay) and now... Rudolph - 2017. If you weren't referring to the christmas seasonal films, then technically they've also run: Fool's Gold Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Get Smart Nim's Island (All of which were screened only once for the premiere).

Sea World - Castaway Reef 2017
QFT BAM You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but an attraction that will quite literally SOAK up a bunch of families, open up a space that hasn't been public in some time, and pad out the park into a full day once again is one of the most exciting things we've seen Sea World do in recent memory. While it may not be your cup of tea, and while many here may not give two shits about it, it's something the park has needed since the old waterpark was closed. Of course, we know they need more 'non-kiddie' attractions in the park to really make it a great park for all ages, but all things come in time, and this one was a quick win, relatively cheap in a year where the company dropped $30m on a coaster.
