  1. Don't let workcover see that photo - guy's not in a harness and doesn't have fall protection erected on the edge.
  2. Ardent bought AMF in 2005, so the suggestion is that bowling has been in decline since then. Of course, that would be completely unrelated to the proliferation of other kinds of entertainment, leisure, smart phones, gaming and the rest? ETA: complete coincidence that Nintendo released Wii Bowling in 2006 also...
  3. Impalement is more common than one would think, particularly in the construction industry.
  4. well - it happened on land owned by the same company that owns movie world, so #connection #goodenough
  5. they certainly do a good corporate christmas party though.
  6. Seriously though, it's 10 minutes until knock off time - let's make a start boys... ahhh well. that looks fine - we'll leave it like that until tomorrow, it's not like anyone cares in a theme park...
  7. ^You also left out the counterweights. Surfboards are themeing and not necessary for the safe operation of the ride. We also know that they're sitting less than 100 metres from the ride. Bringing them to the ride and installing is less than a night's work. Likewise for the gondola. Although it's not currently visible, it's likely the gondola isn't far away, and can be brought back to the ride envelope overnight. Another day to reattach it, and then a few days testing. Its the current state of the gondola that will be important - hopefully they're done (or nearly done) with it. There are 9 working days left until the 30th. All up - even if we see ZERO work on site until the 27th, they could still have it up and running on the 30th.
  8. The Old Waterpark or the Old Old Waterpark? It used to be part of the park, and free. Then someone had the brainy idea to close it to theme park patrons and make it part of the resort. I expect that this will be included in admission - primarily because there won't be the capacity issues we saw with the mammoth, and because the park is so seriously lacking in things to do that they need to take the pressure of somewhere. If this is an upcharge, VRTP need to just neck themselves.
  9. As has been said countless times, don't ask for photos or updates. Rest assured when someone gets down there, they'll post.
  10. if the hardware and the IP exists, its a given to buy it off the shelf. *cough* Shrek4D *cough*
  11. You see the thing about Arrow coasters is that they were so well made, they never required maintenance ever. This is what led to the company's demise - nobody was buying replacement parts, and those that bought their coasters never needed to buy another one!
  12. I wasn't giving them a free pass... You said you don't want clones. I said clones are cheaper, and clones of universal come with a certain standard of theming they need to live up to You pointed to Villains as 'not a clone' that had a good standard. I acknowledged that, but pointed to the fact that that was WBMW with several talented and passionate people who brought that to that standard, and then referenced that we're talking Dreamworld, who don't have those passionate people, and therefore, a clone with a Universal brand would likely carry a certain standard into the park - like dreamworks did, rather than leaving it up to them to (poorly) come up with their own non-franchised brand (consider Shockwave, MDMC, as opposed to KFP\Shrek\Madagascar)
  13. We're talking Dreamworld though, right? The villains unleashed precinct had some very special people working on it. WBMW has been lifting the standard, i think, predominantly because of these sorts of people being involved. Dreamworld doesn't have that... And regardless, a clone still reduces costs.
  14. I understand the feeling, but a clone tends to reduce costs. A clone of a universal attraction, similar to what we saw with Dreamworks - means that there are certain theme standards for licensing. High standards tend to breed more high standards - so I only see this as a positive.
  15. There are many reasons to relocate to Abu Dhabi - most of them begin with a dollar sign. But there are also many downsides to it, and a high risk of getting into trouble over there with their strict laws. One would need to tread extremely carefully.
  16. This may be your opinion, but you can't argue with the fact that the Jurassic series is a popular one. Universal continues to have successes with this franchise in it's theme parks, and with the World trilogy still to release two films, it has stamina. I honestly don't see it coming to Dreamworld, but the franchise is a good one, regardless of your personal opinion of it.
  17. My understanding over the past year is that the theming was done for the install last year, but unfortunately lost in some sort of incident. The folks making it then didn't have room in their schedule for many months, and so it just got put to the back of the queue. I can't remember where I gathered this info, but this was my understanding. Why it doesn't appear to be going in now is anyone's guess.
  18. wait.... so if trolling is fun, then Pushbutton is ok with it? #holyBatman
  19. Sorry, didn't realise this at first. Can't believe I overlooked it. Clearly MW isn't giving the same copy and paste answer, because everyone else has asked about refurbishment! Your friend on the other hand wanted to enquire about refurnishing! That's a horse of a different colour!
  20. copy and paste answer. That's the same answer they've given all year, and doesn't tell us anything new. Also - did you blur our your name, which I presume is Ash, when your ID is Ash95 anyway? What! you mean to say that your parents didn't actually name you with numbers! The Deception!!!
  21. You're right Push. And there should never be a ride stoppage the day after a ride comes out of maintenance either! *twit.
