  1. Potato! Thanks for the photo confirmation - but do you reckon you could have waited another 60 seconds until you were actually standing in front of the ride?
  2. You didn't feel strongly about something enough to actually bring it to the attention of the people who would be capable of doing something about it, but you felt strongly enough that it should be something raised here to whinge and bitch about. You're the sort of person who won't complain about a meal in a restaurant and then proceed to leave negative feedback on every online review site you can find, aren't you?
  3. Clearly you have problems with long term memory. Go back and read the thread about it when it first had the theming taken out. You might be enlightened.
  4. Do you get beer with that?

  6. It's clear that they're trying to separate one cat from another. The one corrected was clearly moving up into the blindspot of the other. It's stalking behaviour. I have dogs and a cat that do the same thing to each other constantly. These guys spend a lot of time with the cats. They have a huge bond to be able to walk around in an enclosure with several of them without much fear (although there have been incidents). The last thing they want is a bully stalking a cat they don't particularly get along with, with a savage brawl ensuing - resulting in severe injuries, and possibly death of one of these great cats. I haven't read anything other than this thread, and watched the video. This is not abuse. This is correction behaviour to prevent a worse situation. ... And now i've read the article posted on Parkz with the statement from Dreamworld - and it's pretty much the above. Media need a good flogging.
  7. Let's just see what happens over there in the next few years.
  8. Skeet, you've left out the net support poles. Also the net isn't affixed to the screen itself. The net also goes much higher. Plus a soft weave net wouldn't really protect people from a high speed golf ball as the net would flex. And stuff. and things.
  9. ^The above pretty much said by everyone when Outback Spectacular made its debut, and yet here we are.
  10. *Headdesk* There is no land in surfer's paradise. Anywhere there is land usually has a highrise on it. If there isn't, there will be soon. The few places that aren't and won't are too small for a facility like this. Before you continue this point please link to a suitably sized block on google maps. Sea World's grass parking lot isn't actually Sea World's. It's Crown Land - the same land that was subject of a development application for a huge casino. It's not an option. TG is on a highway. Not the GC highway - but a much busier highway on the National route. (*tip - real highways usually don't have traffic lights, and frequently have speedlimits of 100km/h and up) Not behind a theme park - point already clarified but included for completeness. Not due to open until next year. Clearly the marketing team at VRL aren't that shit hot, and probably won't start marketing until maybe a month from opening. settle down. When you assume you... oh fuck it - you're making statements about things you haven't even researched properly yet. You've named the syndrome appropriately so I see no need to further insult you. You're arguing that a destination attraction should be closer to where people stay, ignoring the destination Attractions that are literally surrounding it, that thousands of people tourists visit Every. Damn. Day. WnW \ MW are open until 5pm most days. The best period for this type of attraction is after dark. You'll get your corporates and your birthday parties in during the day, but the real business is when the sun goes down - so those thousands of people already at the parks may decide to keep the party going at TopGolf, instead of driving all the way back to their hotel and then deciding where to go - this ISN'T just a place to hit golf balls. I just went to the topgolf site, and chose a USA venue at random - in this case, Atlanta. The amenities listed include: 100+ climate-controlled hitting bays Full-service restaurant & bars Private event spaces & meeting rooms Rooftop terrace with fire pit Sure, Golf is their number one activity - it's in the name... but a restaurant, multiple bars, event spaces, meeting rooms and a terrace and fire pit aren't exactly 'hitting golf balls'. Designed the right way you can put in a dance floor, host celebrity DJs, and the 'hitting golf balls' aspect becomes just a small cog in a big money making machine, that will prove insanely popular for after-darkers. It can also be a place to eat and start drinking before moving on to other venues. A few guys running shuttle buses will make a mint shuttling people to the strip - drunk people pay crazy prices when they want to go somewhere (actually, strike that - Uber will just set up a new route).
  11. Oh Hi! Looks like you haven't met @pushbutton. His idea is usually for us to go back to how things were 20 or 30 years ago. It's like that first level of Rollercoaster Tycoon, before you could afford coasters and you had to build bouncy castles that constantly broke down, walkthrough attractions like hedge mazes etc. etc. Sure - MW needs a 'special effects' show. They've got a show stage sitting virtually unused. Its a pity their DC license is for comics and not the current films, as it would be an awesome tie-in to use the current round of justice league film scenes to replicate the technologies used for each on the show stage, ala USH. It's kinda hard to demonstrate most modern movie special effects out in the open, and enclosing HWSD's arena is probably a bad idea.
  12. Of course they'll protect them, but realistically - the screens protrude beyond the support poles. looking at other TG installations, the net is between the support poles, not suspended outwards. Also bearing in mind the screens were an afterthought... so i'd say they will actually be inside the net - probably covered with a tough piece of perspex or similar... but still, a great alternative target!
  13. school of yoda topic's creator attend he did.
  14. So TopGolf just added two additional targets to their driving range I see...
  15. Excuse my late entry to the conversation, but may I congratulate you guys on a solid piece of journalistic writing, calling it like it is, telling the facts and speaking the truth, without glossing over anything or viewing it through rose coloured glasses.
  16. Some wouldn't care, or were unimpressed by the ride and not want to ride again, plus your queue line will get pissy. Those that take the time to express disappointment should get a fastpass or similar, which spreads the loaded guests across the rest of the day, rather than sending an entire cycle back through again, which will impact the queue.
  17. All the comments of 'its so far away from things' or 'who would visit it' - captive market on VRTP property is the primary audience - Day at MW? hey let's party on at top golf! Day at WnW? Hey let's party on at TopGolf! Trip to AOS? Hey let's party on at TopGolf (or go beforehand if we're early), Paradise Country FarmStay? Hey let's party on at TopGolf! Shooting a big movie? That's a wrap folks, let's party on at Top Golf!
  18. I think that planter used to be outside Vikings. They've moved the planter, but couldn't be bothered to remove the sign.
  19. Actually you're wrong. Within theme park enthusiast circles, and limited mostly to the east coast of Australia, the Wonderland connection would be the first and primary reaction to the Sunway group. That doesn't make it 'what they are best known for' across the board. A left field example, but if I asked everyone here what Manitowoc was best known for, there'll be quite a lot of people that would have never heard of it. Other responses would include: Ice Machines Cranes The landing of Sputnik 4 Shipbuilding And they would all be correct (Go google Manitowoc Wisconsin for hours of exciting historical reading) I always love hearing the conspiracy theories that abound the Wonderland closure. I'll certainly pay the 'lack of new attractions' bit, but I love those who criticise it as mismanagement without knowing a thing about what happened.
  20. It looks like a rubbish bag, and i'd suggest he's probably just cleaned up some rubbish from the filthy pigs that visit the park, and now he's transporting the rubbish elsewhere?
  21. That'd be the one. Blu-ray is so last decade.
  22. Its poor capacity, not really super exciting as something most people want to repeat over and over, and is almost never open outside of peak periods. Yeah, nah. Only about 10,000,000 times since ever.
