Better than "Big Pendulum"- Movie World - general state of things
Yeah, but recognise they've just built Shanghai - they've built an entirely new park, and they've refitted ToT to Guardians, and they've built star wars land, and Avatar land, and they resurfaced a footpath, so they've done a lot @MickeyD - you can't expect them to.... Yeah nah. It doesn't throw anything out the window, it just points that Disney too are flawed. I'm not going to stand up and defend the park for letting it's standards drop. I haven't heard anything about the state of Splash, so i'm keen to hear more (or by all means link me up if theres an article somewhere), but if it is as you imply, then they too need a swift kick in the pants. edit: ok - just did a quick google. Can't find any issues raised with splash in the last two years - there are issues raised but all are 2014 and older. Keen to read more - care to share?- Luna Park Sydney's expansion
Autobots, transform, and rollout! You english good. Hope stick around long time. Thanks linking your for crap. BIG PENDULUM! inevitable link spam it is- Movie World - general state of things
You're all good @Tim Dasco, I know what you meant. it was another reason to be acknowledged, the problem is that they shouldn't use these reasons, let alone have enthusiasts try to excuse the park on their behalf. It'd be like Disney turning on all the house lights in their dark rides because they can't afford to replace the blacklights, and people going 'yeah, but recognise they've just built Shanghai - they've built an entirely new park, and they've refitted ToT to Guardians, and they've built star wars land, and Avatar land, and they resurfaced a footpath, so they've done a lot guys - you can't expect them to buy $500 worth of blacklights as well!- Movie World - general state of things
No. No. No. No. No. They don't get to get away with not performing general maintenance on attractions just because they resurfaced a fucking footpath. They don't get a free pass on general maintenance just because they're building a 30 million dollar attraction around the corner. If you can't afford to keep the standard of your existing rides up, you have no argument. A new ride is one attraction in a lineup - the new one, despite having the biggest budget that year is in the minority when stood against every other attraction in the park. You can't say "well, we aren't fixing that up because we just blew our wad on a $30million coaster" - because what happens when the $30 million dollar coaster looks like shit in 7 years time, and needs a repaint, and they go "well, we can't afford to do that, but we are building this bright shiny new thing over here.... *look! a distraction!*" I'm sick of our parks building something nice, shiny and new, and then forgetting about it and going and building something else new, and then using the new thing to justify why they can't keep the upkeep on the old things. Its such a shitty, dreamworld thing to do. And then - when someone in the exec finally takes a park walk and goes "fuck, the place really does look like shit" - they go on a spending spree sprucing shit up with paint, and then try to trumpet that as something great, rather than something they should have done 5 years ago. Next year, MW will spruik a repainted ice cream shop and a renovated food outlet as 'new attractions' and a walk over the swamp on the new bridge to Top Golf as a new 'experience' as an excuse for lack of new attractions. We all know why MW won't have new attractions next year, but the spin of "check out this new experience" or "check out our brand new retail \ food outlet" is bullshit. I mean - fuck me but Disney painters touch up things around the park EVERY FUCKING NIGHT. Their electricians used to replace light bulbs when they reached 75% life to ensure there was never a burned out bulb on stage. I don't expect VR to be anywhere near that level, but how hard is it for them to go and replace a few light bulbs that are part of the attraction? How can we - as (particularly detail oriented) guests notice differences in effects between opening and now, and their own maintenance teams can't identify it? (or just can't be bothered?) Whats wrong with the boom gate that it no longer goes up and down and honestly how fucking hard would that be to fix? *deep breath* /rant- Movie World - general state of things
This just shouldn't be an excuse. The park should not bother spending money on putting things in if they're just going to allow it to fall into disrepair, and then turn it off, or not bother to replace it to cut costs. Save your money by not putting it in in the first place, if you aren't prepared to maintain it.- Goliath - Adventure World’s new Intamin Gyro Swing

Yes.- Crane topples in Sydney Harbour - LPS Moonface "damaged"
http://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/news/huge-bang-crane-tumbles-into-sydney-harbour/news-story/c0d1ceb640db85a2d163e6726ddc2c3a A CRANE has toppled into Sydney Harbour before flicking the iconic amusement Luna Park in the face as witnesses describe hearing a “huge bang”. “I looked up and there was this huge wave of sea spray caused by the crane crashing into the water” said charter boat owner Luke Feledy. “The bang was like this massive crack sound and I am pretty sure something snapped or broke for sure.” An official account of what happened has not yet been released, but it is believed the crane was working alongside the construction when something went “terrible wrong” at the new Milsons Point Ferry Wharf. No one was operating the crane when it collapsed and police are on the scene. “There’s some damage to the face where the wires hit the top when the crane collapsed,” Luna Park managing director Peter Hearne told The Daily Telegraph. “There’s some damage you can see from ground level. We need to go up and assess the damage.” The park was closed at the time and no one was injured. A snapped cable hangs from the front of Luna Park after a crane broke whilst working on Sydney Harbour. Picture: Richard DobsonSource:News Corp Australia Another witness, Luke Bayly, described how he was sitting on the opposite side of Sydney Harbour when he saw the crane collapse at around 1:00pm. The crane was operating around Milsons Point, an affluent suburb on the lower North Shore of Sydney. “It was a huge bang, it startled me, I thought a bomb had gone off,” he told ABC News. The crane toppled, then later, a cable snapped from the submerged crane and flicked the iconic Luna Park amusement in the face.- DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
i got you. But here's the thing - it's not like its a knee jerk reaction to some newly discovered fact. The joker face was portrayed as a single facing object in the rendering. it was kinda to be expected. This discussion has enlivened because of the arrival of the physical piece. and it is a missed opportunity. big time. apart from budget \ cost, I can't see one solid reason as to why they couldn't have made the face 'two-way' - and it REALLY would have been cool had they done so. I'm not saying the lack of a second face will detract from what is going to be an awesome ride, but its the little things that count. its the little things that you mightn't notice, unless they weren't there. (I'd normally go on a rave about disney and universal level themeing here but it isn't necessary). My point is - the frame is there, the power is there. Just as Rappa pointed out the existing speakers and control systems could permit lift-hill audio without much effort, duplicating the sign on the other side surely wouldn't have broken the bank and really put the cherry on the top of what is already an amazing attraction.- DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
There's already been several discussions about things they could have done: lighting the track colour changing pillars having the face face both ways (two-face? lol) Having the face move having the face laugh having a fully-backwards facing train These are what enthusiasts do - think of ways it could have been done differently. I'm sure you'll appreciate when I say if it weren't for enthusiasts to think about things differently, we could have been looking at a very different coaster design IYKWIM. Nothing says these ideas have to be solid, sound improvements that the park should be embarrassed for not having thought of. Nothing even says these ideas have to be solidly rooted in logic and budget. Ok, so some of them probably don't belong in a construction discussion, but more of a wishful thinking discussion, but who cares? Just because people come up with ways of doing things differently, doesn't mean they're unappreciative of what did come along. I notice you didn't 'call it' when Richard was discussing it? Does Richard need a beer too? This discussion isn't to 'find fault' with it, but as Rich eloquently put it - it was a lost opportunity.- DC Rivals HyperCoaster construction discussion
to be fair slick thats a bit different. The joker face sits atop the lift hill, and you pass under it as you ride. facing both ways does impact the rider experience. the GL logo doesn't.- Fright Nights 2017
of course, the confusion would have been avoided if they'd used the 'returning' ribbon on the placeholder, instead of the 'new' ribbon, which then made the 'new' padlock image appear to be separate to the text description, which was 'returning'. - Trim brakes installed on DC Rivals HyperCoaster as testing continues
