Thanks for posting Loki. They did publish it last thursday ( 1:07pm February 2, 2017 ) and I saw it on the Wonderland History group over the weekend, but didn't have an opportunity to read it. The author seems to have some genuine interest in the topic - its a shame they didn't dig further as there are a few other attractions they could have discussed as well.

What @YLFATEEKS meant was his theory about the footing bolts being coloured to match the support columns was 'sunk' or discredited by the pictures you posted. You solved a mystery, and very quickly at that, AND paid attention to the page count for the current saga of 'how many posts can we make about getting to 100 pages before we get to 100 pages' to boot.

Even if it were just an acrylic side-wall like the tigers Brad I think would work - Wonderland's wildlife park offered something similar and it was really awesome to get up close with Maniac like that.

I'm not sure i'm sold on the nut colour. Are there any Mack rides out there that are blue? can you check if they have blue nuts? Especially during erection? Ok but seriously - i've never realised just how hard it is to find pictures of the footings (pre-installation) on a Mack Coaster. Anyone wanna link me up (read: spoon feed) ? As for the lift hill, yep, looks good. that angle is great. can anyone indicate to me where on the site plan that footing is? maybe we can start sketching?

i don't have any sort of cogent idea for the area, but to take on a couple of points mentioned above: I don't think sticking with a 'gold rush' theme is in anyone's best interests - the whole area has taken on a bit of a stigma since TRRR, and i feel like they need to take on a different direction. I don't think a 'mummy' themed ride is really fitting (especially since, you know, all the movies in that genre typically involve someone being brought back from the dead) DW have stated it is their intention to build a memorial, but will absolutely defer to the families wishes on that point, and if they do not wish to have the memorial in the park, or at all, it won't happen. I'm fairly certain we'll see some support from them to put it in though, but as for where - hard to say. it would be a little disappointing if someone had to pay admission to pay their respects.

Yeah you're more likely to enjoy a view of the carpark, outback spectacular and the highway than any view of the park...

it's just an exercise in accounting though isn't it? I mean Village own both properties (hell the land is one lot) - if the studios aren't booked by anyone for that period, surely they could utilise them? On the flip side - it's great to see that the park is prevented from using them by major motion picture shooting - it used to be a guarantee that those two studios would be a fright night's given - and I doubt they would have locked them out if a production wanted to use them, as i'm sure production houses would have to pay far more, since they would need to use more facilities - but its good to see more filming being completed here locally - our film industry is important.

The Wonderland link you posted the other day contained video that the folks over at Wonderland History have not seen - and given their absolute dedication to all things Wonderland, it was a complete surprise that they didn't know about it - You do a great job trawling the internet and finding things - like the site above - but then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like..."i'll reveal the source later". Honestly, I know that all that is a lot to ask, so really, i'll be happy if you can do at least 2 of them for me. Thanks!
