Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016
Sounds like a cool extra. Mate - please try and proof read. I assume it's auto-correct getting involved, but I don't think rides can beg (but they probably can begin), and I don't believe you were ever the HWS. (Although I'm sure this story occurred when you were AT the HWS)... also - can we be consistent with Acronyms? Are we talking "HollyWoodStunt" or "HotWheelsSide" ?

Yes, they're going to allow free entry on the SkyCoaster to the thousand or more people who pay $15 to see this movie... [/sarcasm]

Actually - this board has quite a history of people wasting their time arguing about shit that isn't true. #FireEyes #CantileveredRoofVentsSmoke. People get called out (*and caught) for bullshit posts all the time... In your original post - you said a light was set on fire. You subsequently said it was the protective housing. Now you're saying its the rain shield. I'll accept thats what you meant all along, but you have to understand you caused some confusion there. Now, i've watched the video you posted frame by frame. What I see, after the flame out is a flicker that is substantially further than the flames reached, and if you watch closely, that same flicker is visible BEFORE the pyro is fired. Chances are the 'flicker' on the video is simply the lamp visible through a vent, and it comes and goes as the head rotates. I'm not in a position to post screenshots of the vid, marked up with what i'm saying - so maybe we're just talking about a different flicker? Who knows. When I get home i'll fire up the video and do a closer analysis... but until then, I'm still not sold, and as I said - until I see pictures in situ, I don't believe it has occurred quite how you say. Doesn't mean you're wrong, just means I don't believe it. No reason to get butthurt just because someone you don't know doesn't believe what you post on the internet.

From VRTP mailing list: So what are we saying here... the park has all that technology sitting there 364 days a year wasting away doing nothing? or are we saying the park has at great expense brought in all new equipment just for one night? Obviously a separate admission event, like FN or WC but for WnW... but no mention of whether slides are open (although for $15 I assume not) - it'd be nice if they were a bit more detailed in their promotion.... And are we really making a big noise about a film that came out almost 2 years ago? Come on village....

I'd love to see them do a complete overhaul of WWF and restore some of it's classic effects to their former glory - as well as re-doing the ghost town, and perhaps installing some new effects... but sadly we've seen WWF go down for many refurbs that we expected would be long enough to really give it a good go, and they've always disappointed - with at best a re-dressing of the tired and worn out sections. I think it's safe to say they will never return fire effects to the mountain - there is just too much at risk, and there are much safer ways of achieving similar effects - just without sparks. I'd like to think Superman's downtime is to allow for construction, but I don't see that Superman would really impact on anywhere else, unless the doomsday plan goes into effect - but i'd like to think that with the time superman is down - they will paint it in something a little more UV resistant.

My BBQ does the same thing when the gas bottle runs out. The flame goes 'puff' as the last of the gas burns under pressure, but then residual gas, no longer under pressure is sucked into the vacuum left by the flame, and it flickers briefly once more. If you're hanging your hat on 'a light fixture caught fire' based on a flickering flame - i don't believe it. Again I restate that what I am seeing looks to be the pyro running out of gas in the middle of the show. Unless someone can show me a melted fixture... I don't accept it - not to mention that anybody doing a show on this scale would have minimum clearances between pyro and lighting, and secondly - a quick puff of flame like that isn't going to be enough to set plastic on fire - at worst even if it did happen - the fixture would most likely continue to work and it would have a slight deformation of the housing.

I don't see any fixture catch fire. I see a flame out. I don't see any impact to any other fixtures. I'm thinking they ran out of gas.

Just realised this pic is of the DW show. I was re-watching the video and the placement of the laptop (on the X) - it all makes sense now. Wasn't quite clear in the original post... I find it really hard to believe in the litigious society we live in, in public performance venues, that minimum clearances around pyro aren't adhered to. How in the hell were ANY fixtures within range of pyro devices? And are you saying after pyro mis-fired and a fixture caught fire, they still continued the show, just without flames? I also find that very hard to believe.- Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition
damn second page worth of unread content. nevermind...- Wanda Group to build theme park on Gold Coast?
Not really - its a rehashed version of the gold coast bulletin article previously shared (they even quote the bulletin on several key points) - there is no new information here - just expanded speculation. I think you're onto something Joz. with all the war going on in the world, wouldn't it be cool to create animal-based soldiers to do our fighting for us? There's definitely some criminal intent in their motives.- 2015 in Dreamworld - ABC Kids World, V8 Supercars and more

Wait - you found a rollercoaster with the same style of track, but completely different layout, which has also had it's train upgraded, and you think because it has a name similar to that of 'new' cyclone - you think that the name somehow relates to the style of train? Newsflash: Hershey Park's Sidewinder opened as the sidewinder in 1991. It didn't get the train upgrade until 2011. http://rcdb.com/109.htm Please stop posting shit mis-represented as facts... and if you do persist, can you at least write it in understandable English?- 2015 in Dreamworld - ABC Kids World, V8 Supercars and more

My comments were in response to your claim of the post being a bit early - YOU said it was a bit early - I pointed out that they would promote it all year long... so it seems like you're agreeing with me. That said - yes, birthdays are worth noting... Milestones are worth celebrating and promoting. But the 35th birthday? seems a bit arbitrary. Traditional gifts for the 35th anniversary are usually Coral... so we can celebrate over the reduction in size of Ocean Parade with the recent retheme of the cyclone, and addition of a Motorsports precinct to further eat away at Ocean Parade... Modern gifts for the 35th anniversary are Jade. I think many fans, staff and management are already there with this one - being quite JADED with all the park has to offer. Yes - you're right - 35 is definitely something worth promoting. See - 50 years, thats a milestone. 60... definitely. Even 30 would be something i'd agree with - but 35? Come on. Will they make as much noise about their 36th? Why not?...- Tiger Island Refurbishment - Dreamworld 2016
I'm sure DW will bang on about this ALL year, and have promotions about their 35th birthday, with a big fanfare in December on the actual date, culminating in the start of the school holidays and another 6 week-straight "birthday promotion"...- Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition
I've done that before - back when gold VIP passes had early entry. when the staff are on their game, (and they're only loading 1 person) you'd be surprised how quickly they can cycle...- 2015 in Dreamworld - ABC Kids World, V8 Supercars and more
re: third person - it's possible that this staff member has returned from a work related injury and is on restricted duties. they may not be able to do certain things, so dreamworld has still found something that they can do to give them some form of work. As for the 'is it a dj or isn't it a dj' - webslave there is no need to be so condescending. Razz has obviously voiced an opinion based on experience, there is no need to speak like you're talking to a child just because you have a different opinion. What's more likely: Dreamworld have hired a "main stage professional" DJ to do 2 x 5 minute sets per night, but nobody knows who they are (if they're a main stage professional, they'd have a name for themselves surely?), and are quite happy to pay a (usual minimum) 4 hour call per night for 10 minutes work... or: Dreamworld gets an existing member of their entertainment crew who is already on that day to learn the music used in the show, and come up with some simple dance moves that 'fit' within the show? (which given the video I saw had a dude, and now someone else is saying it was a chick sounds even more likely). edit: (Oh, and I almost forgot - let's have them spin a dance hit from 1996, that really did not need a revival) While still in the same vein, what's more likely: Dreamworld purchased a ready made light show that requires a performer to jump around a bit Dreamworld entered into an agreement with a DJ who is well known enough that they'd agree to bring him \ her in as an entertainer, but somehow not known well enough that you'd want to promote the name of this DJ in your marketing material for the event (as surely if they're that good a DJ, using their name in the promo might encourage fans to attend who might otherwise not do so), designed an entire show around them including light \ projection mapping, built a giant scaffold over their fountain, and then left the timing of the show purely to chance based on the whim of the DJ's live set. - 2015 in Dreamworld - ABC Kids World, V8 Supercars and more
