New/Changed Theming
One of the tour circuits most popular moving head units - the Martin 2000 Performance weighs approximately 39Kgs. Of this weight, it is primarily in the fixed base section, rather than the head. Power supply, ballasts, control circuitry, etc etc. Inside the moving head there is very little weight. As it is a moving head, the head is built as lightly as possible to allow the control motors ease of function. Inside the head, besides your focal lenses, you have cooling units, the luminaire, gobo wheel, and glass filters to mix the CMYK colouring, all of which are reasonably light in comparison to the base unit. The control motors that drive the head are three phase motors. They have the power to weight ratio to move the head as fast if not faster than a moving mirror. The mirror motors generally (and taken from my own moving mirror units) are small servo motors. They are used because they dont have to turn much weight, and reading against the specs of the MAC 2000, do not turn on either axis as fast as the mac does.

New/Changed Theming
the physics are really the same. it is still moving an object, whether it be a mirror, or a light fixture, the speed is going to be relatively the same. Moving heads are being used a lot more these days simply because of the distortion you get from a mirror. The light is circular, but if it hits the mirror at an angle, it becomes egg-shaped. If you move the entire fixture - such as a moving head does, then the light is always the same shape, and it then falls down to simple focus, depending on the distance from the wall.

Easter show
Here you go. Taken last year at the Royal Easter Show. The art deco style was intended for its purpose, so sorry if the colours aren't to your liking. Essentially, it is like a vomitron style ride, except there is a carriage only at one end, and it has a gigantic fan mounted above your head to assist its propulsion.

The Simpsons in MW?
I was about to make the same point. Warner Bros are now at that park only in name, and Village Roadshow has a large enough share of the movies out there. Bear in mind, even if it is 20th Century Fox, that 2CF have done a lot of collaboration with Village Roadshow as a Distribution network among other things, so theres always the possibility. Perhaps the survey out recently, which talks about a new 4d adventure film in the park could be something simpsons related? ut oh - theres a hot rumor to start.... lol.

25 penguins die at Sea World
Wait a minute - to harken back to political correctness of a few months ago, aren't we calling them "Little Penguins" now? As far as what kind of chemical... geez... I don't know - a chemical used in the water to clean the gravel prior to being sold commercially? a detergent? Maybe some sort of galvanising agent that was in the metal containers used to move the gravel around? Lets keep in mind the folks who look after these little guys... remember the upset after one of the polar bears was put down? same problem - except this time we may also have some maintenance workers affected by this as well - imagine if you were one of the guys who loaded that gravel into the pen? you were poisoning the environment that those little guys were living in.... Sure its a shame that the penguins died, but this kind of thing can happen without due care being taken, and by the looks of things, since contamination most likely occurred before sea world took ownership of the gravel, there may be a case here for the park against the supplier. Cest La Vie.

Mick Doohan Motocoaster construction discussion
I too, use the View New Posts link on the front page, however, if I come to a thread I haven't read in a while, or, I come across a thread I have never read before, I do take the time out to read back through the thread - even if it is 5 or 6 pages long, to ensure what I want to say hasn't been said before. I said what I said primarily because it appeared the user had joined for the sole purpose of making that comment, which to me said that they had previously read that thread, and decided to join as a result.

Mick Doohan Motocoaster construction discussion
Holy Crap! Avis Vintage Cars is closed during construction of a brand new attraction opening later in the year? When did this all happen? I didn't realise it was closed! OOOOoooooooohhhhhhhhh - a BRAND NEW ATTRACTION is going to open later in the year.... I wonder what it could be? *For those of you too inept to decipher, this post has been specially coated with a layer of Sarcasm*

Whitewater world expansion
The only problem I have with that statement is "stay stagnant". The park is nowhere near stagnant. Macquarie leisure could work off their current set up for more than a year. I guarantee less than half the membership of this site has visited WWW to date, and most people who holiday up there yearly may not have had time to alter their holiday arrangements to include it in the last holiday season. The statement of "we'll do it next year" would have been uttered often by those holidaying over the christmas break quite often. The park will see itself through the next year without a problem. I'd say the earliest expansion we will see of WWW will not begin until this time next year. Richard's statement on the CapEx sharing of the two parks should be spot on. We should see DW and WWW alternate attractions each year, with the occasional co-inciding attraction every few years to really WOW those holidaymakers. I can't see any of the gold coast parks making any bad decisions to date. They are all doing a very good job with new attractions, additions and so on, and there isn't any more that any of them can do at the moment to one-up themselves against the competition, at least without going into extraordinary debt.

WBMW: New 2007 attraction
I think a studio backlot tour, like Universal L.A. would be great. It would be costly to set up - obviously not as costly as setting up a proper building, but this would benefit the park in more ways than one - setting up a backlot provides on-set places to film future movies, and the theming of this area is easily changed, as shown by Universal. An attraction like this would also make the park a full-day attraction, as the backlot could take up quite a bit of time. This would also utilise the space at the back of the park which to-date cannot be used because of the neighbours over the back fence and the noise concerns. The water tank published in the paper which was constructed for fools gold could also feature in this backlot set tour. Chuck in a couple of animatronic buildings or characters from previous WB or VR movies and there you have it. Its not something you would do to save money in an off-season while you're not building rides, because it would cost more than most smaller rides they would want to put in, but it would: increase the park's capacity tremendously keep people in the park for longer open up new expansion areas bring in new theming possibilities, not to mention the merchandise to go with those new themes make filming of certain movies a lot easier - for example instead of shooting superman returns on the fox backlot, it could be shot on WB\VR's closed set backlot, custom designed to fit... not to mention that as opposed to Fox, where the facades had to be torn down at the end of the movie, it could be just another addition to the backlot tour at WBMW!

Article: WhiteWater World performs above expectations
photographically speaking, I will guarantee that little or no post-process editing (such as photoshop) has been applied to this photo. Its just a nice, sharp, wide angle lens, using a circular polariser (the angle of the shadows on the ground puts the sun to the left of the shot, which rings true to the fact that the sky is light blue to the left and darker on the right. Its possible that an intensifier has also been used, but since this is digital, using the "vivid" colour setting on any good quality DSLR will do pretty much the same thing. Its nice, but its not an above average shot, considering that it was done by a decent photographer to begin with.

Wet'n'Wild: New 2007 Attraction
Lets not forget that Bounty's Revenge and Dragons Flight found their places within the SunWay Water Park. Apparently they were quite a hit.

New 'Theme' Park
now the ring walk has been around for a while, and this is nothing to do with the possible tourist organisation. the one massive hole is from the quarry that used to \ still exists on the site. As I said, IF - IF - IF - this is confirmed, they won't even break ground for another ten years.

Wonderland site - Update **February 2007**
I could not have said it any better myself dj. I drove past today and saw the lie of the land around the goldrush area myself. It brought back memories... I could see all the rides and buildings and where they should be - even without all the trees there.

$15 entry at 3pm
WnW has a larger variety of attractions, and being that its after 3pm, you're generally either finished school or work, and just want to cool off. Besides in the summer peak times when theres dive n movies, the $21 at WnW goes a lot further than $15 at WWW

New 'Theme' Park
Speaking of DA's, and I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN SAID BEFORE... but according to someone very reliable within the construction industry, there is currently a DA in for the homebush olympic site by a well known tourism corporation. Expect it to take about 10 years before the ground is broken, but apparently its there. If I can get more information through i'll let you all know.

$15 entry at 3pm
Yes, in this day and age of "what's your best price" and "do you price match?" in the retail world, an organisation that can charge whatever it wants, knowing full well that people will pay (within reason obviously), doesnt really need to offer a bargain - particularly when they have a new product, that nobody has had before... means there must be a problem. Perhaps they are getting the people they want, but they're treating the park as most people predicted - as a half day park, and by 3pm on most days, they're struggling to get the people in the park - paying staff, utilities and so on, and not having people there to be served, as well as people buying food and drink, means those hours are not profitable. i'd say the people in the morning make the money for them, but they're trying to get people in the park to buy food and drink and concessions and so on, as well as keep their staff occupied.

$15 entry at 3pm
Seems to me like WWW is not doing as well as they hoped, and they're trying to do anything to get people in the water.... could this have been a bad move for DW???

Big Brothers Future
Hate to be pedantic here, but just a fact check: Southern Star and Endemol are actually two separate entities. Endemol originally developed BB overseas. In Australia, shows such as this, and MANY MANY others are developed by Southern Star and Endemol, hence the splash at the end of the show, saying Southern Star Endemol. Southern Star Sydney shares the offices with Network 10 National (not sydney), along with Southern Cross Syndication, and Radio 2UE. Southern Cross Syndication handles the ex-SKY Radio Network, the 2UE Radio network (the John Laws Syndicate etc). I can't say which way around the ownership goes, but needless to say, that Network 10, Southern Star, Endemol, 2UE and the Southern Cross Radio Network are all working VERY closely. I don't know the politics, but Network 10 has dibs on any Endemol concept that comes down under. So long as BB is successful, Network 10 will hold on to it... and when BB is no longer successful, Network 10 will ditch BB, and when they do, nobody else will buy it from endemol, because - it is NO LONGER SUCCESSFUL!

'Tigger' hits kid at Disneyland
In my personal experience, most of the costumed performers, unless the suits were tediously heavy and bulky, were usually worn by women. They seem to have more of an "affectionate" touch with the kids. Shrek at wonderland for example - most of the time a guy would be in Shrek, but princess, farquard, and donkey were all gals...

Lethal Weapon truely LETHAL!
Not to mention that the terms and conditions stress to you if you have any back or neck complaints you should not ride, and all riders ride at their own risk... Now negligence aside, because that is definitely something that you could sue over, if it is ride at your own risk, and WBMW can show Hundreds of riders per day without neck injuries serious enough to sue over, and then one person DOES sue, then obviously they must have had a weakened spinal cord as a result of a pre-existing condition, whether or not they knew about it, and as it was pre-existing, it was their own decision to ride, despite the warnings.

Article: Jamberoo unveils $20 million investment plan
firstly, why do people keep editing my posts. If you are going to edit my post, leave a note as to why you are doing it. i am fed up of all of these new mods on this site who edit for apparently no reason. i have had numerous posts in the past month or two edited, apparently, for no reason, and when I pm the mods, i receive ABSOLUTELY no response. Second of all, Adam, while I have nothing but the greatest respect for you, if you have not spoken to pro slide or jamberoo yourself, how can you state for 100% certainty? - as far as asian tourists understanding the concept, asia has had this style of "transportainment" for a while now. Now, as the general concept of the river "flows" around the forums, depending on the raft style, there will be a little separation between them, but they will share the same water... there may just be a net between the two.
