  1. Had the chance to experience arkham asylum this morning and it truly is now a wonderful ride. Long gone is the head bashing and rough ride. The new trains feel smooth and I could really enjoy the ride instead of worrying about pain. The theming is great. The wallpaper really didn't affect my experience and the queue was well done. The cells were well thought out and should keep the long queues at bay. There is no real storyline to the ride but it didn't affect the experience. It feels like a coaster inside arkham asylum, regardless of the plot from the video game. No sign of onboard audio which was in the media release and I forgot to ask where it was. Congratulations to Movieworld on this addition. This coaster will be very popular and they will need a second train in peak times. The new brakes At the end of the ride are smooth. Channels 7, 9 and 10 were there this morning so there may be a piece on the news tonight so keep an eye out. I can't wait to see what they do with the old lethal queue and cinema. There's a nice big space there for a new addition. My guess will be an extended maze zone for fright nights, but they will leave it as is for now
  2. Dream works is looking great. Hoping to get there over the weekend to check it out
  3. Why would something that isn't officially open need a sign saying its closed? Soft openings are just that Alex....
  4. Hey GoGo! As I was once the parkz contact for the themeparks I am on the mailing list with their marketing dept. I am hoping to get back into that side of things to bring more content to Parkz direct from the themeparks but need to contact the owner here before continuing on.
  5. Here's hoping from this promo pic they do go all out with the costuming for the ride attendants!
  6. What you see on television is a few weeks behind real life
  7. Hey Guys! Long time, no post! I have been busy as a contestant on the Channel 9 series (now GO! series) Excess Baggage! Very limited time to access the internet etc. Hoping to get to the parks soon and check things out!
  8. At the village parks, attendance increased by to 4.9million (up from 4.5) Village confirmed they sold 825,000 VIP Passes but reported a decrease in sales revenue of 7%. Net profit for VRTP dropped by 25% A 25% drop in profit means they are on the wrong track dj
  9. Well now batrides closed they can recomission the bags from those seats and put them in scooby
  10. Agree with you Raymond. The only reason to close batride and river ride meant lowered maintenance and staff costs. Movie world is now a 2 hour park and people are going to remember this when their passes are up for renewal. The movie magic that was once a draw card is gone. Movie World will always be my "home park" but the park and current direction is lacking. While Fright Nights is drawing the crowds and green lantern will keep interest for a littke while Movie World need to get back to interactive, immersive experiences. One of the best moments of HWSD is the audience interaction at the start. Movie World will never compete with Dreamworld on the quantity of attractions, but by focusing on the quality of the attractions they have and by making smart decisions over the next 3-5 years is what will set it up as a viable competitor. Closing ltrr and batride with no sign of replacements are cost cutting measures only. If you need lockers for every freaking ride then they should be free. Just wait til the day when u can't take ur things on wild west for "safety" reasons. The glory days of mw are long gone and the focus on thrills over substance spell nothing but doom. Dreamworld has the carnivale ride side down pat, mw must focus on interactive, immersive experiences.
  11. Expansion? One rollercoaster but the closure of multiple attractions does not equal expansion. Mw need to replace at least 3 attractions before we can say they are "expanding"
  12. By decreasing the cost of a ticket, mw have also decreased the iq of its average visitor. Mw is a shell of its former glory.
  13. My thoughts exactly keadz. It's never been a problem before. Guests are asked to put stuff on the floor. Just a revenue raising exercise by VRTP under the guise of "guest safety" . Really glad I went with Ardent annual pass this year. VRTP keep surprising me with decisions which are negativly impacting guest experiene.
  14. Annoyed at no loose items on scooby... Bloody stupid if u ask me. Movieworld may be getting a new coaster but they are makibg some very bad decisions lately.
  15. I went to Fright Nights last weekend as well, and have the following to offer I didn't do everything on thr one night as I will.be returning a couple of times so wanting to savour the experience etc. My Reviews Saw Maze This was disapointing. The scares were hit and miss, with those at the front of our line getting the big scares. Their were some genuine surprises and I saw a few groups literally running out of the attraction, so it seemed a bit hit and miss. Going from oyher reviews here it seems that its definitly great or poor. Unfortunatly, my experience was poor. 2/5 Zombie Apocolypse This maze was filled with actors and was terrifying. The actors in this mqze were doing an amazing job, climbing fences, reaching through the chain mail. It was great and I would do it again. Such a long maze as well and worth the wait. 5/5 Main Street atmosphere Once the rain hit main street became the place to be. The sexy burlesqur dancers were having photos takeb with people, but no staff member organising the queue line meant that 3-4 different queues were moulding into one. A simple staff member to organise the line would have been good. I will be going back tomorrow night to experience more of Fright Nights and am really looking forward to checking out Arkham and having one last ride on Lethal Weapon before its refurb. Nate
  16. 2011 Survey Hi All, The results of my 2011 survey are in. With the parks relying on repeat visitors I decided to ask participants which attractions they had to do if visiting one of the big 3 themeparks. % shown relates to the % of respondants who make an effort to see, ride or watch this attraction when they go to a park. As a reminder, here’s the top 10 attractions as voted by parkz readers in September 2010. 2010 RESULTS 1 Movie World - Wild West Falls 86% 2 Movie World - Superman Escape 76% 2 Movie World - Scooby-Doo 76% 2 Dreamworld - Tower of Terror 76% 2 Dreamworld - The Claw 76% 6 Dreamworld - Giant Drop 71% 7 Seaworld - Jet Rescue 67% 8 Dreamworld - Tiger Island 57% 9 Dreamworld - Thunder River Rapids 52% 9 Dreamworld - Wipeout 52% Now, let’s get straight onto the results of this vote held over the last week. I have had quite a few more votes this year than last year, so here are the Top 10 rides and attractions which have re-rideability value as voted by Parkz readers. 2011 RESULTS 1 Movie World - Superman Escape 87% 2 Movie World - Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster 82% 3 Seaworld - Jet Rescue 79% 4 Dreamworld - Tower of Terror 76% 5 Dreamworld - The Claw 66% 6 Dreamworld - Giant Drop 63% 6 Seaworld - Shark Bay 63% 8 Movie World - Wild West Falls 59% 9 Seaworld -- Polar Bear Shores 57% 10 Movie World -- Batwing 56% As you can see, Movie World takes out position number 1 and 2 with Superman Escape and Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster. All other attractions at Dreamworld polled badly taking their final result to an 83% drop in interest in Dreamworld’s attractions compared to 2010. Over at Movie World things were fairing better with an overall drop of 3% from 2010. Wild West Falls was the shock drop of the survey losing 27% points to drop from overall winner in 2010, to 8th place this year. Seaworld was the only park of the big 3 to experience a positive overall survey result, with a huge 96% increase in interest in their attractions. The place the majority of people go to eat out of the 3 parks? Gotham City Cafe with 41% of respondants saying thats where they choose to eat. I would love to know what you think about this year's results. Anything come out of these which you find interesting? If you would like the full listing please PM me and I'll send it through to you. Nathan
  17. Is it good to be on that high horse slick? Just to clarify my original post. I don't agree with DW punching tigers in thr face. I don't have kids. You might rrmeber slick that I have paid for a behind the scenes tour of the animal facilities at dreamworld. Just by paying for this tour I was contributing to their animal program. Slick, i watch animal documentaries nearly every day of my life. I have absolutly no problem seeing animals attack and kill each other. Watching a human literally sitting there swinging his fist into a tiger's face not once, but 6-7 times. while the tiger is laying prone and submissive does not sit right with me.
  18. That's fine swiss... It'd why I prefer zoos with a no contact rule with the animals... I'll never ever be ok with what I saw at dw, regardless of whether it hurts the tiger or not. A little kid seeing a handler punch a tiger in the face does not convey a good message
  19. When I was at tiger island recently one handler was actually punching the tiger in thr face as hard as he could.. this was explained as a training tool to show dominance but just left me with a sick feeling in my stomach...
  20. It's there oceangirl. http://www.movieworld.com.au/Attractions/Attractions-Maintenance.aspx
  21. It says permanently closed Ads... It's not going to reopen....
  22. Going off on a complete whim here... The sequel to the Batman game "Arkham Asylum" is being released soon. " The story for Arkham City takes place approximately one year after the events of Arkham Asylum. [15]. Quincy Sharp, former warden of Arkham Asylum, has taken credit for stopping the Joker, and used the notoriety to become mayor of Gotham City. As neither Arkham nor Blackgate Prison are in any condition to detain inmates, Sharp buys out a large section of Gotham's slums and arms the perimeter with private military contractors from a group called Tyger in order to create "Arkham City". The prisoners are brought into Arkham City and are given free rein, as long as they do not attempt escape. To oversee the city, Sharp hires psychiatrist Hugo Strange who appears to have his own secret agenda for the city. Batman maintains a vigil over the city, worried that the situation may get out of hand. " Is there a possibility that with this game a new video for the modules could be tied in? Could we be seeing Batman Adventure the ride 3? Interesting to that a 3d version of Arkham Asylum was released a few months ago. Batman Adventure the ride 3 using 3D tech and a storyline from a video game ? its clear Movie World already have a relationship with the video game production (see fright nights) so I could totally see this as a much needed update to batride... Trying to see the positive here and really hoping Movie World have a worthwhile replacement ready to go by christmas. 5-6 week turnaround does not really seem like a lot though...
  23. I really think Batman closing needs its own thread..... I doubt we will have something new built in time for Christmas in that place.... Disappointing.
  24. Movie World have released a Fright Nights season pass costing $49.99 and it gives you entry to every single Fright Night event. Tickets are limited and you can purchase at myfun.com.au Nate
