Sea World Wild: What Could It Be?
themeparkgc replied to the12thworld's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Well I guess it was assumed. Dinosaur Island was announced as only remaining for one year. It was to close in June/July last year for the Wild attraction which had a targeted opening of 2014 at the time. With Dinosaur Island closing 8 months after it was supposed to, a 2015 opening of Wild (or at least something on that reclaimed land) seems likely. -
Dreamworld New Ride September 2014
themeparkgc replied to Jlindsell's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Like the though, it would be very easy for the Cyclone to be extended with some track pieces from Sea Viper during its two-week maintenance period later this year. -
Dreamworld New Ride September 2014
themeparkgc replied to Jlindsell's topic in Theme Park Discussion
It's worth noting that these rides were added when the park was owned by a Singaporean businessman. Macquarie Leisure (now Ardent) took over around the time of the installation of the Giant Drop. -
I agree with this, I think it is just an old video from before the park opened. Also, the original plans for the park were drafted by WhiteWater West, hence all the rides by them. I believe the final plans were done by Water Technology Inc.

It's actually approaching 21 years, isn't it? At that age, a major maintenance period would almost certainly be needed. I just hope Dreamworld are able to get any spare/replacement parts that are needed considering so few installations of the ride were manufactured, and we don't see another Eureka.

Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013

Storm Coaster is the cover story of the latest edition of Park World Magazine. The two page spread goes into detail about DyMoRides, who coordinated the theming and effects for the ride. -
Warner Brothers Park, Abu Dhabi
themeparkgc replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
There was one proposed for Dubailand years ago, but with the GFC most of those proposals went down the drain. Interesting to see the plan for one near Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld though. I daresay this will be a Time Warner venture. I take it you've already seen this thread, but for others interested: http://www.themeparx.com/warner-brothers-park-abu-dhabi/ Edit: Looking into this more it seems Thinkwell Group has been contracted for the last couple of years on this project. -
Sounds like they're bringing back elements of the Police Academy Stunt Show:

Sydney Wet n Wild | Can I sell my wrist band? |
themeparkgc replied to swagjord's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Surely Wet'n'Wild would have a system to prevent this, but, none the less, people are trying to sell them: http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.XWet%27n%27Wild+Sydney&_nkw=Wet%27n%27Wild+Sydney&_sacat=0&_from=R40 -

Featherdale Wildlife Park - part of Warner Village?
themeparkgc replied to DaptoFunlandGuy's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Sounds like maybe this is just a partnership for marketing purposes only. The wildlife park's new owners as of June are Moss Capital. http://www.afr.com/p/business/property/moss_buys_featherdale_wildlife_park_c0uUn6RgYXla4y1cguuQQM -
What to expect in at the parks in 2014?

I can't remember ever seeing those gates opened, even when the train was in full operation. I recall always being forced through the automatic boom gates and past the retail plaza. Are you sure those gates have ever been open (except for vehicles)?

Dreamworld's New Attraction December 2013
themeparkgc replied to gdalby96's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I don't think Dreamworld added this as a drawcard attraction. I think the area needed a bit of a refurb (it was left basically untouched for about 12 years), and with the insentive of the government matching Dreamworld's investment dollar for dollar, why wouldn't they go ahead with it? -
I think there is no problem with having so many slides on the one tower. If the park does decide to open on limited operations throughout a winter season sometime in the future, the tower structure as it is would be great. The problem sounds to be the queue structure. Now I haven't been to the park, but it appears there is one staircase per tower. With proper organisation this could work, but it doesn't sound like it does. I remember hearing an interview with Lo-Q a little while back saying they'd love to be able to design all of the water slide queues in the world because, in their experience, if they can get everyone to queue at the bottom of the towers and have a minimal amount of people on the stairs, it would result in smoother operations. Because there aren't any rafts, a tower like the ProSlide T5 one could share stairs quite simply by using the method WWW uses as someone else mentioned previously. The WhiteWater raft tower has five different slides (counting the four Breakers as one). No matter how you look at it, a single staircase doesn't suffice. You probably need a minimum of two sets, possibly more considering you are going up with your rafts.

The Parkz Update: Sea World, December 2013

I agree, but none the less, that's what their procedure was. Emergency services appeared from behind Bermuda and deemed it a false alarm shortly afterwards. -
The Parkz Update: Sea World, December 2013
themeparkgc replied to Richard's topic in Latest News & Updates
I've seen 'grassy knoll' used as an evacuation zone for the theatre when there are functions and they can't let people scatter in any direction. I know this would be rare, but could be a reason why we might not see it developed. Bermuda also had emergency exits out onto that area too (not sure what the case is for Storm now though). -
I stumbled upon the aforementioned photos (page 4 onwards): http://www.parkz.com.au/parks/AU/Prospect/Wet_n_Wild_Sydney/photos/page4.html Also, I wonder how long it will be before the Gold Coast parks get a similar RFID solution. I know we have splash cash at WNWGC but having entry, lockers, and payments all controlled by a wristband seems pretty great not just from a guest's perspective of convenience, but the park will probably see higher in-park spending.

Some more news articles with pictures have emerged here and here. There is also an article critising the park's customer service here, and one from Jamberoo's perspective here.

What will be the next attraction to open at the GC parks?
themeparkgc replied to Brad2912's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Outlaw Run cost US$10 million. The Intamins cost another 2-3 mil on top of that. With Vekoma now doing international licensing for Rocky Mountain rides, I'd love to see an Australian park get one. With the high demand for Rocky Mountain coasters though (they are booked out for the next year or so), I think a park in Australia, even if they had the money, would be further down the list than say a larger amusement park operator. -
Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
themeparkgc replied to alex_1's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I just don't understand how you can think that in the same area the park once had Bermuda you could get a 28m tall coaster + Bermuda. We've the extent of how big this ride would be. Looking at the pictures and the POV, I think they've done a very good job. If you are unhappy with what we got, just be glad they didn't plonk the coaster down in the carpark like the original plans.
