1. Velcro straps are on board to promote passengers to stay seated, they are not a safety feature. You're expected to remain seated at all times as per signage plastered everywhere. If a raft were to tip last thing you want is people restrained with lapbars. 2. During a pump failure a loud alarm sounds and the operator initiates an emergency stop which will stop all pumps, conveyors and close all jacks. 3. "18 year old operator, first day on job" - Not possible, this ride required you to be a senior/experienced operator. It was one of the second last rides you were trained on last one being Log ride. It took 2 years before I was trained as an "assist". Main operator is a senior with at least 3+ years experience.

Long time viewer, rare poster here. I worked at Dreamworld for many years in operations and did in fact operate this ride. All my opinions are expressed personally and do not reflect the values or represent Dreamworld in any way today. 1. The media is enjoying the bait with this story yes but that is expected. If your wanting real facts without being superstitious you will need to wait for a full report to be released from the investigative team. 2. In my years with the company safety was incredibly important and we were pushed to write and submit reports of anything we saw or experienced that was out of the ordinary. Our training was very hands on and involved more then just checking your seatbelt and dispatching. Every morning as early as 4am an engineer would inspect a ride thoroughly and then once again before the park opened the operator and team would also do a less broad but intensive check on ride systems, gondolas, fire extinguishers, test run etc then sign the ride off/start up. Also as well as daily checks there is Annual Maintenance schedules. 3. There are modern fail-safe systems in place for human to machine related input and while I'm not an engineer I have experience in the day to day operations of the ride. As what QPS describe the raft seem to have snagged onto the raft in front and flipped back onto the conveyor system. I've never experienced such an occurrence before in my time working there, keep in mind things may have changed since then. 4. As I may have a general idea on how this could have happened I'm not willing to give my opinion until a full investigation is completed. All I can say is that when I heard about this story I was deeply shocked as I believed it was impossible for such an event to occur. My colleagues that still work for dreamworld are in complete an utter shock and could not believe that in 35 years this is the first case of death on the premises. 5. People need to realise that theme parks don't just build a ride and put people on it. There is a massive process beforehand in design, risk assessment, training, engineering, maintenance as well as consistent updates from ride manufacturers well after opening. Most rides designed these days have multiple fail safe systems that backup onto each other in certain "what if" "If this does this" scenarios. As for the age of this ride yes that is a point but it's control system has been revamped with the current only being a few years old. 6. Yes possibly operator error, maintenance, design or unruly guests on board may have caused this accident but it's the Swiss cheese effect that brings us to this outcome today, We shall see what the investigation brings. You're more likely to be in a car crash then hurt during a ride so all I can say is that this is a rare tragedy that in turn will educate and improve the industry overall. My condolences for those who were lost as well as to the operators, first responders and families affected.

As a previous Senior Ride Operator for many years at one of the Gold Coast parks I want to add in my two cents. Regarding sensors on the ride it seems logical that either one of the operators heard or saw the part fall off the ride causing an all too common "hit on the estop". But judging from where the cart has stopped it looks like it has hit the brake run in a way where it has either destroyed the sensors going through (causing the rides computer to estop) or the car (due to being partially derailed) caused a block time alarm which means it didn't make it to the next set of sensors causing the ride computer to estop). It's better to wait until and investigation is done. But this looks like a serious issue.. nothing small at all.

Dreamworld's Festival of Happiness

I rode Pandamonium today. Was really fun! Don't ride with a hangover though! The area looks fantastic. Still minor touches being done though. The shops arn't open yet. Soft Opening this is. The park is quiet! and I mean quiet! 10 minute wait for pandamonium. It's normal though just before Christmas. Boxing day onwards it will pick up. -

Most Zamperla rides are built to be transported, even park versions. The structure is up, they are doing all the electrical/ride control stuff now and the landscaping around the ride -

As you go up the conveyor you can hear jack the ghost say something following by the buzzsaw spinning sound continuously going while the ride is in motion. The speakers are mounted on the access stairs in twos on each side of the track. It can be hear throughout the park in the morning. It must switch off after like 12. It's interesting to hear when you are at the front entry. -

Just a few things I've noticed around the park. 1.The Dreamworld Tower has had its Tower of Terror letters painted. Looks like new! 2. The Claw has been repainted, the floors and concrete have been repaved and the roofing has been replaced. Looks like new! 3. Main Street buildings are currently getting a coat of paint. 4. Alot of much needed repaving is going on around the park. 5. A large facade "chinese" themed entry has been built next to gamesite and the toilets. 6. AVPX has been repaved out front and the storage box has been moved. 7. Buzzsaw queue line is closed off leaving a simple entry through the main switchbacks, both service doors are open for airflow. I'm guessing they are addressing a few things. 8. Big Red Boat has been constructed. 9. The new air race has been constructed. Looks great! The gondolas are themed to a wheel cart type of thing. 10. Buzzsaw's ride audio is working as you go up the conveyor. -

The area already looks promising! Most of the facade work is complete now it's just a matter of putting the rest together, The new thrill ride is classed as big number 8, The ride footprint is also quite large! Also a trench has been dug up next to the tea cups ride in wiggles world for the new attraction. It's right next to the SS Feathersword so maybe it's themed around that? Dreamworld have quite a lot lined up for this holiday season. I think they are waiting to let all the news loose just before holidays to get the public excited. Not too sure what village have planned for the holidays but I believe Dreamworld could steal a lot of guests back this holiday season

Dreamworld 5 year plan - a challenge
MayfairProductions replied to aussienetman's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I assure you, there have recently been a few shifts in the direction of the park. Hopefully positive! Alot of money is being spent to "refurbish" the park. Po's Garden is going to look really good! Todd is a decent man, we have had a few chats and he has idea's! -
Wow, a lot of people are getting angry over something there most likely not going to change unless you actually get off your bums and send in a email with a few hundred signatures. Has anyone done that yet?

How hard is it for them to turn on a dvd player and put the thing on repeat. :l I Went last week and i noticed alot of things with the ride. - In Room one before the lift i noticed that lights have been turned up. Was it always like that or is it just me. It wasn't "Scary" at all, You could see the tracks in areas where it was ment to be dark. - Lift was fine - Wow The main room was just nothing lol. No smoke Whatsoever only 2 lasers where on and the music was muffled. I swear they have put wood or something over the speakers. Its practically un hearable. - Nice addition was the spider on the bend, i actually jumped because i never saw it before ahaha. It felt like it was really close. And it was not noticeable from anywhere else. - The final room was probably the baddest. No Smoke, No Laser, Scooby was working with sound but no light on him at all. And the gels to colour the room green are all burnt out. The people who were sitting behind me said they loved the ride and all. (Tourists) I said, "You should have seen it a few years ago, it was kooler with all the effects" From my perspective they cared more about the twists and turns rather then the effects of the ride. Because there weren't any. hehe It was a long wait too, they had the spill out line open and that was full after we left the ride. We only got one ride (N) Not wanting to go down harsh of MW but i think the ride needs alot of addressing, effects-wise that is.

Yeah. See If I can't get into film then I'm just going to continue with my business and do filming for people until i "Get big". But yet on the same note I have always wanted to work at movie world if i could not find a sufficient job in the industry. Oh what a lovely film industry us Aussies have. Its probably the same over seas too ay.
-
I'm watching behind the scenes now and judging by your Forum picture i think i saw like a 2 second shot of you. bahaha
-
Wow ahaha That sounds so cool. I can't wait to get into Film, Its gonna be a really hard industry to get into, but ya gotta stay positive. I'm having thoughts on going overseas after school but meh atm. .... Yeah I would have thought they would of shot over at the sound stages and not actually in the theme park with noise and what not. Also another question, where was the town constructed and placed? Dad says that it was out far away from the park itself? I'm always mentioning my dad in these posts.
-
Just watching the movie as i type and i just had a thought. Now don't yell at me if i get this wrong but it says on IMDB that some of the film was shot in one of the sound stages IN Warner Brothers Movie World, NOT in the soundstages behind the park. But anyway Do you think MW would of turned that stage into a attraction based on the movie if it wasn't burned down? They usually do that with most movies by Warner Brothers that are filmed on the Goldie? ... don't they Discuss Also just as i'm halfway through the movie. How awesome would it have been if they kept the "ambrose" town set. I would visit that place right away. Too bad they pulled it down
-
As long as the tourists don't recognize it, its still a world class ride. Enthusiasts like us notice this stuff. But still i would love to see more fog added. The new laser(s) are kool. But does it really really cause so much strain on the profits. There's gotta be other stuff they could disable rather then effects on a attraction.

Does anyone think that WBMW should invest in a preshow for the Spaceshot ride? Personally myself I think its a good mood setter and will give more time for unloading and loading, something tells me its not "completed". Like its missing something??? Like they have just placed it there and put some plants around it and thats it?? What do you guys think?
-
Cheers for the info
-
Hey Guys, I Went to WBMW and was walking around that quiet section of the park where the Looney Tunes Stage Performance is and i had a thought about Einsteins House. I'm 17 and totally missed out on seeing this attraction in previous visits to the park because it was long gone, but my dad did say it was a good fun experience. So basically what I'm asking is Can you guys give me some information on the ride. EG Whats the storyline Whats involved What Effects etc I have no idea of this attraction Cheers Jayme

African Safari World: New Village Theme Park
MayfairProductions replied to rosscoe's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I use to live around the corner from that zoo. My friends proberly gonna lose her job there as a tour guide once it changes, Spewing, its just gonna be weird seeing massive roller coasters etc in the skyline from werribee, Most people who live there know that its dead flat. Overall, it could be a success but i'm leaning towards a no. Mainly because its gonna confuse tourists on which parks to visit weather in Werribee or Gold Coast. But still it coudl succeed -
Alot of there music is updated very slowly. I remembered when i went last year they were still playing music from 2 years before. But that may have changed now. To answer your Q though Its mainly Mainstream. Lol i love it at wet n wild they always have Cher - If i can turn back time. My family were al lsinging to it, i sank away slowly into the water trying not to get noticed
