  1. It's abit of a shame really to see such a new park open only to close within only a year of operation and now the owners have a huge debt to pay granted they took the risk. I will be very interested to hear hear which parks end up with the rides sold off.
  2. We'll he did say something to that effect, I wasn't worried at all but for someone unsure about the safety of the rides then that wouldn't be very reassuring. Well that is just to bad, they are great rides. Anyhow they will obviously be replaced with something else from Proslide. Two new rides this year couldn't hurt.
  3. Well since we are on the topic of ride closures during holidays I'll share my experience with a bit of a trip report tied in. I went to Wet'n'Wild on the 27th of December. Yes, yes I know that is the worst time to visit but it was our only option. We headed out nice and early and got to walk straight in with our prepaid tickets. We got a locker then headed over to Surfrider as I knew of the terrible down time it regularly suffered on a daily basis and wanted to get on before it closed. Anyway the line was short as we were one of the first in the park so we soon got on. No hassles, the ride was fantastic. The seats were spinning which was great however the fountains were off. Is this permanent? Luckily we got on first thing because after a while it shut again for a long time. Disparately trying to get on again we went on other rides while seeing test numerous times. After awhile I saw people going on again so we joined the line. We got to the very front and were let through the gates, the the attendants called us back behind the gate and the ride shut again. Before hand while in the line it had been do a cycle with people then one without. By the time it opened again it was late afternoon the queue was so long it was right out side and all the way back to the fence at the end of the footpath that runs along side the ride towards Mammoth Falls. Both the out side Jetsreams were also closed. I asked the guy at the bottom of the slide and he said something to the effect of they were shut because they were to flimsy. He was probably joking however I did see some rust on the rides at Mach 5 has anyone else? though it is to be expected since they are second hand. As if that wasn't enough both terror Canyon 1 and Terror Canyon 2 were closed all day. On the website it says for refurbishment but why would they be doing it on one of the busiest days in the year. The site also said the Jet Streams were closed for refurbishment but, what is there to refurbish? All in all I had an good day, lines were very big but I was expecting this, however they still make the day less enjoyable. Food was nice IMO though I only had a few chips and drink. Rides were great but they were very short and sort of make the wait unreasonable. Kamikaze was good but nothing special, just to short and really bumpy lol. Surf Rider was my favorite closely followed by Tornado and the middle Jetstream. I was disappointed by the many ride closures on such a crowed day especially Terror canyons as they were my favorite on my last visit. I fail to see why everyone complains about the River rapids. I rode on the one closest to the queue line it was by no means thrilling but it was fun and of decent speed. Cheers,
  4. But, are they really target adults with their children rides? I do however agree with your statement about them not needing anymore rides in WB Kidz yet. I know where your coming from but, I think a majority of adults actually pay attention to the amount of kids entertainment in each park when choosing one to visit, especially if they have younger children. After all they are the ones who will be looking after them and want to have many options as possible in which to keep them entertained. Cheers
  5. Yeah it would be pretty gross, though I don't know what you thought was so funny.
  6. Has any construction been going on. I mean have they built any new queues to accomodate the system? I wonder how it will be incorperated on Wipeout hmmmmm and TOT for that matter.
  7. What? Read what I wrote. I wasn't saying I knew it all actually I was saying the exact opposite. I thought the only way it could get back to the control system was via a wireless system hence me posting the above comment. The rest of your post is understandable, though we still do not know what system is used you simply gave an alternative to wireless. So how was I being rude?
  8. Excuse my ignorance but how else would it get back to the control panel if it was not wireless?
  9. This ride has so much potential yet a relatively boring layout. What about some high speed, over banked turns on the way back to the station. 600th post
  10. Yeah thanks for that debate guys, very interesting to read How would the wristband system work in jumping queues and offering a solution to the lines. Wouldn't they have to go with something similar to FastPass as there is no electrical component in the wristband to alert people. At Wet'n'wild, just down the road from Dreamworld they already use a system very similar if not the same to this "new" solution, it is know as Splash Cash. Although I have never used it, I do think that this system works quite effectively and IMO would be great to be incorporated in a dry park such as Dreamworld. If lo-Q come up with a way to use wristbands in water parks to jump queues and buy food, lockers and drinks then it would make sense to place it in dry parks as well because it would be alot simpler then the Q-bot system. http://wetnwild.myfun.com.au/Park-Info/Splash-Cash.htm
  11. I loved that little preview very professional. Thanks for that Rich The cantilevered car jump is the track positioned behind the set, right? How does this work. I mean do cars just drive over the top is is there something else. Does anyone know if the audience will be involved as much as they were in PASS. It was always great to see the actors picked out of the audience, most of the crowd thinking they were just regular Jo's and then get involved in the show even though it was all planned. Is there going to be any audience involvement, I hope so, maybe there will be some audience shots in the final movie. Cheers,
  12. Yep, a complete money maker. Do you think families will even bother paying extra? I don't.
  13. Haha, they actually took your comment seriously Gazza. My comment is awaiting Moderation. Has anyone else noticed the silly avatars they have given to people that are commenting.
  14. Typical Dreamworld to cheap out on their latest attraction. This is ironic I can't believe they made that statement and then go completely against their word. I don't think the target audience is going to be happy. I wonder how TV commercials are going to be put together, I mean would they say how great and detailed the new V8 super cars thing is, while showing the pictures of those unrelated cars.
  15. What about Maverick? Another coaster worth noting is Saw - The Ride currently under construction at Thorpe Park. Again we see another Eurofighter, featuring 3 inversions and some awsome themeing http://www.rcdb.com/id4162.htm
  16. Well I went to Aussieworld yesterday and I had a quick chat to the manager about the water park. I asked him how big the park would be compared to the fairground now, he said that if the fairground were the size of a thumbnail then when Wet'n'wild was finished it would be the size of his palm. I asked him when we could expect construction to start and he said as soon as the council approves it then things will progress with construction expected to begin in February 2009. As to the future of the rides currently there, he said that some of the dry rides would stay and be moved to another area on the site to make up a small fair within the water park, so it looks as if the Wild mouse might be staying,. He also stated that the land they currently have is 56 acres. How does this compare with WWW and WWWW? Also he said that the area that is currently being occupied by the rides there now would make up the huge children's are with tipping buckets ant that sort of thing and by looking back at the plan Gazza posted up that looks about right. A pretty low key conversation as he was busy working but still some interesting stuff.
  17. Yeah, definitely it actually happens quite often especially when you have a good memory and remember alot of people you have seen. On re rides it is also common, for example when out get of SE and half of the train joins the line again so you are with the same people as before. Or when you meet the same people in the queue for the same ride as you saw them in earlier in the day but 5 hours later.
  18. Well it is good to see that this is only a trial, if it is a flop then guaranteed it will go after the year trial is out. Absolutely, WVTP seem to be adding new major attractions to all their parks regularly, whereas Dreamworld hasn't bothered for years unless you count MDMC as a major attraction. I personally think Dreamworld rely too heavily on the reputation they built up for themselves over the first 2 decades as being the best and most favored park in Australia. People are starting to head over WVTP as an alternative to DW because their parks have more unique, enjoyable attractions and heres the big one, are continually updated. Now back on topic, I wonder how effective it will really be and if many guests will use it. I guess only time will tell until until djrappa's statement is confirmed or dismissed
  19. Haha, Alex you always seem to pick up on my mistakes. "On one ride I was on, a girl in the front car" there, is that better?
  20. Yeah, seat belts being unbuckled don't cause emergency stops. On one ride I was on a girl in the front car undid her belt as a dare and it hit the metal just as the car launched forwards. She was screaming her lungs out the whole ride thinking she was going to fall out.
  21. Maybe, just maybe, they could use the screen infront of The Daily Times building on Mainstreet and replace it with something far supirior and that suits the site.
  22. OK I do like this new name, but , I just wish they would leave out "The Coaster" tacked onto the end of it. Terminator Salvation sounds pretty cool just by itself.
  23. Which water park are you talking about because the discussion has now branched off to talk about the one for Caloundra and the one for Aussie wold. I agree if you are talking about the one for Aussie World as we have already seen plans and it does look very impressive. However I do not think the one at Caloundra will be as good as the whole idea of the project is for it to be a recreational park with the water park being thrown in as a bonus and not being as big. I don't know the exact layouts for each park but I sincerely hope the one for Aussie world goes ahead. Cheers,
  24. There is some great pictures and continual progress update on this site http://www.johnnyupsidedown.com/manta.html Check it out if anyone is interested.
  25. Well I for one aren't convinced. Sorry but it just doesn't seem like something WVTP would do, very out of character really to release fantastic footage of an attraction and unveiling it's workings to the public well before it opens. I am sure alot of people on these forums appreciate the time and effort you are putting in and no one wants to see you get fired for the sake of of a few minutes of exclusive footage. So you have been warned and I hope you only put up the footage if out are 100% sure you got permission and full approval. Cheers,
