Matt Hollywood just drew a small cross on his hand with permanent marker, and had me hold my hand in a fist. He then clenched his hand into a fist, opened it back up, and the cross was gone. My 6 year old nephew asked me why it was taking so long to reopen the log ride. I told him "they're adding a metal frame over the top of each car". His immediate reaction: "What? Well Butlin's holiday resort in Minehead, England closed its monorail in 1998, and sections were bought by various different parties. Gradually I assume most were scrapped, but one section remained in use as a playground item at a local primary school in Minehead for kids to sit in and pretend they were on a monorail (Dreamworld style, if you will)! I became aware in 2009 that the school were planning to redevelop the land where the monorail carriage was, and I was able to persuade Butlin's facilities manager to purchase it from the school. Butlin's subsequently refurnished and repainted it, and put it back in the resort as a static display of Butlin's history. Sadly it only took a year for some moronic guests to vandalise it to the point it was beyond repair and had to be scrapped, and that's after primary school kids taking good care of it for well over a decade. Sad. I am dumb, so I await correction by someone wise! You really shouldn't feel the need to prove yourself to anyone Gazza. They can choose to either believe what you say, or not. They did, but I thought that was absolutely fine, as the Beat Box show was on. Who would want to be on a ride when the Beat Box show was on? The other reason was they had to stop the noise made by the rides in order that it didn't interfere with the sounds of the Beat Box show. I am dumb, so I await correction by somebody wise!

I've just been in and looks like they've repainted the chair legs and the walls and columns. Can't see anything different.

I'm 99% sure there are no plans at this stage. I think there definitely should be, but there aren't because until this week, they thought they could reuse the mine ride and just build a shed over it.

Thank you rac2703. At last a sensible response! I wasn't aware the show was on last year. The video shows pretty much exactly what I was expecting to see, but even though I could clearly see through both windows there was no mermaid in sight. I will go again though now that I have confirmation there is supposed to be!

It's 5pm and as we were promised, absolutely everything is open here at Sea World. Certainly makes a big difference to the atmosphere, and I hope they continue with this.
