  1. Helps to keep the prices so low, and to raise funds for attraction maintenance and new ones. I'm all for it.
  2. It may be that Clayton has a minor learning disability of some kind. That would explain both the incorrect spelling and his apparent lack of comprehension of a few social media norms. That's only my guess as I don't know the guy. I'm quite sure his intentions are all very good though, and to me that's the most important thing!
  3. The theme park social network is just a Facebook page run by someone who clearly loves theme parks, just like us! So what if he sometimes speculates and makes mistakes, don't we all? Why so much hatred, and for people who obviously have something in common with you? Chillax!
  4. Here you go! All that's blanked out is a barcode at the bottom, and my name and member number. Oh, and my face lol! The back of the card is just completely blank and white. I also got a free lanyard which I suppose some people might attach their card to.
  5. I just picked up my new membership card, and can confirm that it is as I hoped a plastic card. Much better!
  6. "Scooby Doo has had some love" New thread title? Today ALL the effects are working just great. It was the first time in a long time maybe ever) I have seen the doors at the very start of the ride open and close.
  7. Just buy a membership and you will see it in the terms and conditions.
  8. Not at all really. We already know that Village is increasing their prices to $144 per year from 2016. Ardent is almost sure to follow, and both companies will then have scope to raise their prices a little each year, which will gradually bring them up to more sensible levels. I believe this is an incredibly well thought through approach which will enable them to overcome the price perception barrier that has existed, without losing too many customers.
  9. I'm glad I didn't go today now, for those exact reasons! I'm not in a hurry though. I'll get my new card next weekend. Hopefully it will be a plastic card. That would make it a lot more durable, and water resistant. It will potentially be another significant cost reduction for the business too if they spend less time and money making and issuing cards.
  10. The additional revenue they are going to earn with the memberships mean there's an unlimited number of fun new attractions they can create in the future!
  11. DONE. Easiest decision I've made all day!
  12. Yes they do seem to be throwing away opportunities to make a lot more money. As I said on the other thread though, this new payment model gives them scope to incrementally raise prices by just a small amount per month without scaring too many customers off. It also gives them other benefits including a potentially huge monthly revenue stream and the interest benefits of that). In future years they could say the unlimited membership no longer includes the night events, but members can buy tickets for say $25 per event, as each one approaches. Still very cheap, but could result in a lot more money for the parks.
  13. Sounds like a smart plan with several advantages over VIP passes for both the company and customers. If I can just pay a small amount to upgrade my VIP pass to unlimited membership, and it includes all the night events, I'll definitely do it. After the first year they will have an opportunity to increase the price by just a small amount per month but which could equate to a fairly significant amount annually, and this gives them a way to do that without people I could only call extreme cheapskates complaining too much. Those people can still just cancel their membership if an extra $5 or whatever per month seems too much! A great idea. I just hope the cards will be durable and waterproof (credit card style).
  14. Saw it today. My only criticism would be that they have kept a small section of it as "Wiggles World". In my opinion it's hardly worthy of being called a "World" when it's really just a small bit of ABC Kids World, which is a small bit of Dreamworld! I think they should have just made the whole area ABC Kids World and lost the Wiggles World name completely. They could still have kept what they have kept of the Wiggles, just not named it as if it was a separate section of Dreamworld.
  15. Well, if people actually buy it, I can't fault Disney for selling it. Let market forces prevail!
  16. Except that there are no real stunts like there used to be.
  17. people can still voice their opinions through the parks various Facebook pages. It isn't as organised oor focused a method though
  18. Can't say I'm surprised but I am disappointed. I think Richard has probably summed up exactly what has happened. I've seen the same thing happen with a UK company I have been involved with. Sad really.
  19. I was at Smithfield yesterday and went on the Skyrail chairlifts. What an awesome experience! Cairns is shaping up to become more and more of a brilliant holiday destination!
  20. I'm in the process of backing up all my old family photos, and happened to come across this one. It's me as a sulky teen about 1990.
  21. Hmm. Well I would be willing to bet my life savings that's not the case! However I get that you're not especially interested in it and that's fine. The following is absolutely massive though, by people of all ages.
  22. Because it's a theme park! Why have animatronics of sharks, when there are real sharks in the park? Same reason.
  23. I think it matches Sea Worlds aquatic theme just as well as Bermuda Triangle did, and just as well as the mythical Creatures of the Deep do. It is a theme park after all.
