Only if there's a section that needs a pier or footing here or there. I see it as a bit half assed, but you see it in business everywhere; it's wasted money to excavate the entire old structure when you're only going to pave over it anyway.

For my wife in particular, being able to ride more than once without having her ears beaten to a bloody pulp. The newer restraints are more like the Mack restraints on Rivals/Taipan; they're more contoured to clamp on your thighs, whereas the current superman restraints are just a tube at the base of the OTSR, so the straps still play a role in holding you in overall. I don't think this is really a risk/concern on our superman ride though.

Interesting take, I thought in the comparison between TTD and KDK that the lap bars were preferred. What is is about them you don't like? Velocicoaster's restraints were comfy for the record.

Ride 'mechanics' have more of a background in engineering rather than mechanics though right? It's more of a niche/skilled profession. Speciality/rarity is really all this argument is boiling down to. Aviation would have SLA's on their turn arounds, and that's one of the safest industries out there despite all the lay-off's and outsourcing you hear about. Look at RMC, they started out building others' rides, now they build their own; a market could be made if there's a demand, we just don't really have it here in Aus.

They were blue, now they're yellow. It's a fairly good indication that they're RGB. Hopefully they've only used 'dumb' RGB for the light strings themselves, with ARGB controllers for each letter. This way they can still customise the lettering if desired, but you won't see the LED's on an individual letter spaz out (see also: Slingshot Surfers Paradise/Any other ARGB installation that has water get into it). Individual control of LED's per letter would be a bit overkill IMO, also the tower doesn't lend itself very well to quick and easy repairs if one of the LEDs in the string fails.

What are we looking at? Footers?

Not to nitpick here, but it looks like a W in the proposal image, not an upside down M. Maybe an actual W as per the render was too wide? Or indeed it's also just a different font (render was a mock up only).

I don't think your comments are wrong with regards to measuring ride operations success as time between dispatches, but like others have said, joe shmoe simply won't care; parks will though like you've said, more dispatches+more maintenance+more cost. I don't think your theory is on the extreme side of the conspiracy theory spectrum, but unless someone from VTRP speaks out, or a previous employee breaks an NDA to confirm/deny this, it will only ever remain a theory, on both ends of the argument.

Just for comparison, when we went last easter break, there was only 1 train on Rivals and a 3+ hour queue. There was a sign up at the ride entry however saying something along the lines of 'due to circumstances outside our control this ride is running at reduced capacity'. That wait time sign could use a spit'n'polish, at least try and remove some of the rust stains. It's always been around 6 minutes in my very limited experience (compared to others) Is that an addition? I didn't think there was any aircon, just some dusty-ass fans.

I've pondered this, noting that DW seems to have a PA on every ride that the ride OP in the control booth uses. At MW, is it the 'more authentic' set experience to be yelled at (akin to a megaphone) and VRTP has just cloned this to SeaWorld? I'm on the phone a lot for work, and often by the end of the day my voice is done just from talking, I couldn't yell like the ride ops do all day long.

There's a rather large difference between a car catching fire which you can open a door and walk away from, and being trapped in a coaster by the restraints while it's on fire.

SE is open again now, how are they going to install SR in the middle of it's ride envelope now? Either after hours work (heading into winter - less daylight) or pause construction until the next SE maintenance window? That DA posted earlier was only for the slab construction was it not?

I'd say ops booth and the exit just above it. The larger structure would be the entry queue. That's a really good point. You should have a good sight line from the main entrance in front of the globe and I'd imagine you'd be swinging up above the structure (or do these swingers not go that high?) Anyone have the link to the original files?

Wouldn't you pretty much be underneath that beam when taking the photos anyway? If the area is as cramped as its being made out to be you'd be struggling to get it in the shot.

Time will tell, eventually though parts will become scarce and it will go the way of ToT. By the time that comes around though hopefully it's time to replace the ride entirely.
