What would you like to see at Gold Coast Theme Parks soon?
BigKev replied to Santa07's topic in Theme Park Discussion
I'd like to see Movie World have 2-3 other attractions, not including whatever happens in LTRR building. -
I don't know why all these rides don't have the same system as Mick Doohan Motocoaster does, simply and inexpensive. The money the lockers make would be nothing on a WB scale so why bother with the bad feeling it creates? Agree re Movie World when crowded, it is at least 4 -6 attractions short on crowded days.

They say they do not but in 10 years we have taken food in I have never once had an issue with it and we certainly don't use any covert means. We have a genuine reason for doing it but have never even been asked.
-
And let's face it, anytime you are a 'captive' to the food and drink outlets, be it theme park, sports stadium, etc, etc the food and drink is over-priced and fairly ordinary. We always take our own to the parks and despite it being prohibited have never had an issue taking it in.

I don't know what the original post said but I had a day at Wet'n'Wild a couple of weeks ago and found the park to be great. Friendly staff, good rides and a well-presented, fun place for people of all ages. But we didn't buy any food............

It all seems very technical to me and I don't quite understand the definitions most of the time. Hasn't Dreamworld sort of branched into a whole park theme of having the 7? major rides as a theme? That's what it seemed to me last time I was there and in their advertising. Does that even count as a theme?

Was wondering that myself!

I understand the point but I was there last week and the resort was at full capacity and there was never once a line to get in. I doubt more than a handful of people would ever use it anyway. I suspect the parking is already a problem because it was clear there were people on the weekend using the car park. A boom-gate that requires room key to lift like other places have would soon sort that though. Oh and the resort is most definitely not a quiet and relaxed place when full!

Yeah when I was there last week I saw people turned away from the entrance. Don't understand it really it is a turnstyle entry so it doesn't really hurt.

Very cool ride.

Some thoughts after a recent trip to the Gold Coast and the theme parks. Seaworld +ves Up and about as a park. Storm is obviously a great addition, as is the polar bear section. Looking around at the additions to the park in the last 10 years or so, Shark Bay, Stingrays, Castaway Bay, Penguins etc and it is a real credit to the management. Blown away by the amount of space 'reclaimed'. Will easily house gorillas, hippos etc and you could picture how it will look great and work in the park. -ves The rollercoaster looks sick. Large sections of scaffolding. The Dolphin and Seal shows are great but gee they could do with a freshen up. I know the animals performance is limited but even a change of script would be good. Movie World +ves Does everything pretty well, the rides are all solid and enjoyable. The new stunt show is a seriously good show in terms of stunts. -ves If you are a family with kids too big for Looney Tunes rides and too small for thrill rides there is bugger all to do. Scooby, WWF, Justice League (Road runner was shut) and Dodge Ems. The Wild West show is bizarrely tacky. Jokes about dick size, rape and violence against women are just out of place in a family environment (or most environments). Ditto comments on Sea World re live shows in Main St. Wet n Wild Really is a great park with heaps to do for everyone. Arguably the best value park out of the 3. We filled a solid 5 hours non-stop without repeating anything. -ves Those 4 green slides take miles too long to send the next person down. Most rides were walk on, they had a half hour wait because of the excessive waiting between riders. Was also the first time staying at Sea World Resort and I have to say it is exceptionally overrated.

Was running normally today. Meanwhile some bozo smashed into the height warning barriers before the monorail track in the carpark and shut the mono down for a while today.

http://s161.photobucket.com/user/Flea33/slideshow/ Hope this works! I didn't get to the front of the park today to get a view looking back but hope to in the next few days. If anyone would like any other pics from any WB parks in next few days let me know. Edit: Stuffed if I know how to get them to come up in the post like I've seen others do?

Ok I was there today and took note of a few things. Couldn't believe how much space has been reclaimed, enough to have a very large exhibit(s) and work was going on today. Dinosaur Island has gone and reverted to a nothing path and a weird lighthouse again but power still remains. The rollercoaster has scaffold over a section and was being worked on today. Oh and Storm is an awesome ride! I have pics of all of this, if someone can just tell me how to get them from iphone to here I'll post!

I will add this to my list to investigate in the next few days.

Been to Movie World on a day with constant drizzle, enough to make there be barely anyone there, and everything ran all day so I think you'd be ok unless it was reasonably heavy rain.
-
I've always been puzzled about the knocks on the MDMC on here. I know the harness thing is uncomfortable but I've always thought it was an ok ride otherwise. I've never been on Jet Rescue but they basically look the same to me.

What are the stand-out points of the top rides? Are they amazing tracks or something? I guess I would think theming makes a difference on a ride that is good without being great in terms of actual ride like maybe Superman? But something like the Green Lantern doesn't really need the story because it has a stronger ride element perhaps.
-
Enjoying reading the thoughts on here. To answer the previous posts I guess my thinking was this is a wide open thread, ie any sort of ride type. Personally I agree with the posts regarding the 'story' of the ride. I like it when designers have put some thought into the experience, not just seen how many times they can flip you upside down etc I'm really looking forward to riding Storm next week for this reason.
-
Does that mean like Superman where it sorts of shoots out the tunnel and over the peak or like a tower drop type thing? I'm assuming there are no rides that actually go in the air independently?
-
Been following the roller coaster vote thread but not being as knowledgeable as most on here it is hard to really follow the technical aspects of rides. I'd be interested in the why? of people's choices, ie what makes a ride a good one?
-
I'll be there next week, so if no-one comes through before that I'll take some snaps.
-
My impression was Wild would occupy a different spot than where the Dinosaurs were?
-
It's funny cause I feel the opposite. I think the Scooby Doo RC is one of the best rides on the Gold Coast but after the kids dragged me on a few times it I found it became really tedious because you know the track off-by-heart and sort of ride by numbers. After many go's in Alien V Predator I find it is still fun because there is a natural variation in it with different groups of people.

I like the laser tag being there, I think it provides a nice change to do during the day.
