Sea World Storm Coaster construction 2013
themagician replied to alex_1's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Has anyone been on the ride recently? Anymore changes and does the water feel cold now? ALSO, has anyone got any pictures of the Sea Viper's latest maintenance? -
I would also like to see Dreamworld build a new roller coaster. When I messaged them a few months back about new rides coming to WWW and a replacement for the mine ride they said they they have a couple of major plans they will be starting within the next couple of years, they just have to save up first. Thats what they said, so something is happening, but we will be waiting a bit longer for another roller coaster.

I think once they have finished this, then they should focus on fixing Cyclone (new train and get rid of the turbine)
-
Before they put the sealant on they would have filled any holes or chunks of wave they had broken off over the years. It's good to see that Dreamworld are investing in giving a popular ride a facelift, instead of getting rid of it. Good job Dreamworld.

WWW also do. The other parks say your not aloud to, but a few snacks in a bag are fine (I've done that plenty of times). I just usually leave an esky in the car with sandwiches and other food in, so when i leave I either get a stamp out or just scan my pass again. -
That cliff face is a part of the set for Dwayne Johnsons new film San Andreas. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2126355/

So in summary you don't like the food, service and the un-updated website. I do agree that WNW's food isn't the best, but I usually just take my own food from home anyway. It's cheaper and I know that it is good. -
The gold coast theme parks Facebook page just posted this: We can OFFICIALLY announce that as of the April 28th, the Reef Diver at Dreamworld will close and be removed from the park. There is no word of what will replace this ride, but we can assure you that we will release this information soon. I had a look on the dreamworld website and this is correct.

I have been on a rainy day before. I was there for opening and it was very grey. It rained for nearly all the day. It was during early March when I went (This was a couple of years ago). Obviously the surf rider does not operate if it is very heavy rain and if the lightning gets bad then they will close some/most of the rides. It usually goes keep the large crowds away, especially on a day like today when it is very overcast this morning. Most rides I found had a maximum wait of 20 minutes. I would say you will easily be able to do all the rides today, the water might be a bit cold though.

I never thought about it that way. I don't think SeaWorld should try to get the Orca's to breed anymore. One day these creatures will unfortunately die and when they do SeaWorld should not bother trying to get more whales. I know they have invested a lot of money into the arena and homes for these whales, but they need to realise lately they have had to invest a lot of money into it all. They should then turn the arena into something else.

Does anyone have any pictures of Wipeout and Sea Viper at this stage?
-
I just googled the make and model of my one and I found easy step by step websites that show how to do it. I'm sure you will be able to find it easily.

SeaWorld are now trying to fight back after the film: http://seaworld.com/truth/?m=1 I've watched the film and it is an eye opener. They should just release them into the wild, but an area where they don't have to face all the creatures and elements of the wild , just like they said in the film. SeaWorld can fight back all they want, but heir fins should not be bent over like thry. Yes they may look after them, but they don't live in a large enough area. It may be big, but it's not the ocean. Killer whales aren't meant to perform, they are ment to be fraction animals that swim in the ocean. It's like if human had to live on a spa bath for years and years. It would be horrible.

Sarcasm overload.

According to the Oxford Dictionary: theme park: an amusement park with a unifying setting or idea. amusement park: a large outdoor area with fairground rides, shows, and other entertainments. I think Dreamworld is a theme park. Just because it doesn't have the best theming, doesn't mean it isn't a theme park. You aren't going to get rides like the Giant Drop, Tower Of Terror or Cyclone at an amusement park. Anyway, I don't know any amusement parks that charge $85 for adults and covers 210 acres.

Possibility of a Lego Movie ride at MW?
themagician replied to sam11's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Does anyone have a news on what is happening. Are Movie World starting work on it? -
A rollercoaster for the Wild West area has been discussed before and it was said that it couldn't be done (depending on where it was) due to the noise restrictions at that end of the park. It does look like a good ride that could fit well in the area if the theming was done right. I was thinking more of a ride like the 7 Dwarves mine ride that is just about to open. The old styled mine carts would fit well into the theming of this area of the park.

Or they could have something like what they have at Cars Land. Obviously on much smaller and cheaper scale, but have cars drive through a looney tunes themed area. Then at the end they get a bit of speed on them and they go down the length of the building. For this to happen the cars would have to be much smaller and so would the track (That's just obvious though). -

You say that they spend heaps of money on maintenance for skyway, but I am sure they spend more on Sea Viper. -

You aren't imagining that, but I do believe it used to be in the Main Street Parade. I could also be wrong, but thats what I thought. I think they got rid of it once they put the roof over main street. -

That would be a pretty cool idea. I'm sure it will do very well in Australia as it has got great reviews and is doing well in the box office in other countries. I don't have much reasoning, but I don't think Movie World would add this attraction. -
Work has begun on upgrading the overpass at this exit on the motorway. I have some friends who's parents are in the business. I don't know how long it will take or what it will look like but it is happening now. Also I went pass the site for the shopping centre and they are already putting concrete barriers on the edge of the site.

Wild West Falls (pre - 2003) video

That pic does show where I meant, cos I thought the water was a waste, but I didn't realise that was how they moved the boats off the ride if they are broken, etc. -

Oh I didn't realise that was what it was for. In that case they could have the effect close to the edge of the water maybe.
