With VRTP finally announcing an opening date, I thought it was time to renew my pass after not visiting the park for several months. Wow. The scale of everything is very impressive in person and it’s really coming together nicely. A few things to note before my massive photo dump below. The scaffolding is down for Trident and they are currently building a wall to hide those hideous services behind Vortex.

That colour matches the one they showed in the concept artwork for the refurb and the new logo they have on the maps in the park.

So we thinking a soft opening the week of the 28th, maybe even the weekend of the 26th too?

I’m hoping the park has invested into Project Zero, to ensure they’ve rectified all the issues Dreamworld were having with the attraction.

That’ll look great a night on the several dozen nights a year when the park is open. But the other 364.5 days that they’re open it might not look as good.

Wet n Wild has the Surfrider behind their wave pool and I think it adds to the atmosphere. And having Project Zero behind a wave pool, which is such a large scale attraction for the park, it be an icon for the park and people around the wave pool will love watching people ride it.

The coaster definitely looks great within the landscape and a perfection attraction to make this park really stand out as a must visit (image from the parks Instagram)

These holes in the wall are new. Do people think they’re just openings to allow for air flow within the queue? Or something more? Are you thinking of how it looked in the original ad for the ride? I’m not sure if it ever did look like this?

The detail and scale of these statues is very impressive and is a major jump in improvement from the first one we got for Vortex. And I do love each attraction got it’s own statue. However, I don’t like the parks logo on the statue as it takes away from the immersive nature that these statues bring. And I hope they keep them clean because seagulls are going to enjoy sitting on the statues.

They’ve just updated the countdown and it now says, ‘midnight train reveal’

Sea World is making an announcement at midnight tonight in regards to Leviathan (source: the parks Instagram)

It had two small maintenance periods in its first year. I believe the track replacement was in 2019

The fact they’ve added the ‘joy to the world’ makes me think that this year they’re actually changing/updating the event. And previous years have had a blue/white sign, so this could mean a colour scheme change for the event too. Finally! Also, the Instagram story teases some of the new floats too. I’m sure many parts of the event will be the same, but a new parade and decorations will be great to see. Maybe a new tree too?!

TPSN shared these photos of the legs of trident statue installed. And more of the arches have gone in (these ones appear to be on the path at the back of the dolphin lagoon

I don’t think it’s operated for more than a couple months within that year. There was been a lot of work happening periodically. If im not mistaken, I believe some slide pieces had to be replaced.

Thanks @Ogre awesome collection of photos. With the wiring within the statue for trident, hopefully that means it lights up. It’s going to be a real shame if they don’t hide those aircon units for vortex. Even some batten screening will be good enough. To fully enclose it will require a ventilation system, but battens or tall plants will be enough because they look even worse now the whole area is coming together. Loving the overall aesthetic of the area and the detailing we have seen thus far. It is a shame the entry/view to the area from Nickelodeon Land is such a bottle neck and obstructed view. I know they’ll see as the entrance near vortex as the main entry and this is more secondary, but in an ideal world it would’ve been nice
