"Fastpass" like system to be trialled at Movie World
My take on ‘Fast Track': It's free for the trail and that's great; its a level playing field, so if I get there early I will be able to use the reservation for the one or two rides that we really want to go on while being able to spend more time with the non riders in my family. I recently took some relatives to the park with me (3 kids, me and 2 pensioners) and we spent a lot of time split up; there were many times that I wanted to sit down for a beer or coffee but ended up queueing for things with the kids instead. So if this means we can still get in a couple rides with the younger kids while still getting to sit down and relax for a quiet beer or coffee with the non-riders then I'm in favour! If it costs after the trail then that's also great, as it's a very good reason not to take my family to Movie World. Thanks for saving me yet more money! Coffee and beer are both cheaper elsewhere, and a day at the beach is free. I've said in the past that not having a pay to cut system is a positive point of difference for Movie World, and I've also pointed out in the past that per cap spending didn't increase when Q4U was introduced at DW, it just got re-allocated. Honestly why any park (where the main product sold is fun and a good time) would choose to piss off it's normal guests for no significant increase in revenue is a mystery to me.

Sad day for Sea World
... and seeing how April Fool's day is now over I'm sure we can all agree that this thread is over. Let's face it; it was pretty much going downhill from post 6 onwards.

New Ride at Adrenalin Park
I assume that by disabling one of the gondolas (not hard considering none of them work) you could use that side of the tower as the single tower for the parachute ride. Personally I think anyone willing to touch either of those rides with a ten foot pole is insane.

Yesterday was Sunday. For better or worse very little construction happens anywhere on Sunday.

In their defence have you seen the weather in the past couple of months? It's been raining every second day for months now.

Sea Viper Closed
Sea World had two trains when it opened in 86, which I assume were new at the time. In the mid 90's picked up a third train to add extra capacity during holidays and extra flexibility so two trains were always running off peak. Last year they decommissioned one of them for parts, and now only run one train most days.

Sea Viper Closed
In the past they've normally been pretty good at repainting Corkscrew before it needed doing, it's nice to know that not everything at SW has changed. As for 'closed till further notice' I doubt it's anything to worry about, I read 'we'll re-open it as soon as we can but can't commit a date yet'

The Off Topic Topic
I don't know about everyone else, but I was interested in this conversation before the topic of ride names came up. I know this is the 'off topic' topic and all, but how about we drop the hair splitting over ride names?

Well if it's working they can always renew the contract, if it's not working (retail sales) 5 years isn't too long of a commitment.

Working at Movie World?
Being a dancer is pretty vital, as most of the female roles are dance heavy. There's a bit of playing multiple roles, one day you'd be Catwomen, the next you'll be Daphne, or Bonnie, and sometimes more than one role in a day, and while there's obviously character training, they're not going to teach you how to act, ability to act and dance is pretty important. Getting a job is the same as any entertainment job, send in your show reel, get an audition, and pass that. It's obviously not as cut throat as Disney; Village don't do auditions internationally and Movie World isn't in LA, the unemployed actor capital of the world. The current positions avaliable are on the website here: https://www.onetest.com.au/wvtpcareers/ but like any job, there's nothing stopping you applying even if you don't see the job you want up there. If you've got the experience, and the skills, there might be work there for you. The other thing that I suggest to people who live on the Gold Coast is often getting a job in the park is a good stepping stone. Once you're in, it's a pretty easy company to move around in. I'm not sure if it's worth uprooting from Adelaide to give that a go, but if you were here anyway I'd definitely recommend it. The company is full of people in Entertainment who used to work in rides, managers who used to cook burgers, supervisors who used to work in retail and every combination in between. Good luck with your search!

Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
I think people might be over reading into things. I'd be perfectly willing to believe that they may have been looking at replacing some track, possibly to fix some transitions, or possibly because it's old and may need to happen eventually anyway, that's certaintly not the most far fetched thing I've heard. I think people might be confused and instead of reading the rumor as 'they were going to replace the track' they seem to be reading; 'they were going to change the layout'.

Arkham Asylum: Shock Therapy (Lethal Weapon Retheme)
If this is true then it's possibly to stop all the harnesses opening when there's need for them (like when it's quiet). Why they would've decided on a button is a mystery though, it does seem a very odd way of trying to achieve something that Arrow and Vekoma each worked out how to do 20years ago.

BEST AUSSIE COASTER 2012
^ I just put it down to slow loading (thanks to the trains/restraints) and a relatively long cycle time. The irony of it being the most family friendly ride in the big 7 is that it the normal seats also have one of the higest height requirements, while also while offering the dullest, most uncomfortable ride. IMHO, MDMC did was punching well above it's weight when it came in second last.

It used to be 135cm but has been 140cm for a very long time now (more than 5 years). Personally I think this is great news, and I'm really amazed that people are trying so hard to come up with things to whine about. I'm not one to give the park a free pass on things but this gets a double thumbs up from me, can't wait for a ride.

Shipwreck Island
The feel I was going for was one of those great oldschool seaside parks, where it's got that real mesh of old and new, I guess it's a little bit inspired by Blackpool Pleasure Beach, since that's the park which really made me enjoy that oldschool vibe, and the ride selection is similar. I had little interest in making a promenade or anything of the sort, hence the whole park is an island which is accessed by boat. Despite how difficult it'd be in reality, I think an amusement park taking up an entire island would be rather cool, hence this park. One thing I find about RCT3 is I keep using the same rides over and over, and this type of park was an attempt to do something I hadn't done before and use rides I don't normally use. This is the first time I've built a arrow hyper, wooden mouse, log flume, ferry, circus, air thrust coaster, kiddie coaster, mini golf, and a bobsled coaster, and still been able to coherently incorporate it into a park. If you click on the park map video it does give you a bit of an overview of how the park fits together and fwiw, the fireworks show takes place in the bottom left of the map where the path spreads out. Can't have a fireworks show if there's not a good viewing area right?

Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster Article
I was there yesterday afternoon, the smoke was honestly spot on. The problem was that the lasers for the top half of the ride weren't working properly (just a static beam) and no amount of smoke will fix that, and the red laser is just too dull to have an impact. I don't mind if rides have an off day, but despite 3 lasers not working properly yesterday, Scooby Doo has come a long, long way from a couple of years back. Since I'm talking about this, I feel the need to say the laser on the eastern wall focusing on the lower portion of the ride is a really cool effect and I hope it stays like that.

Huh, never noticed that before. I've changed it so it's not a embeded video now.
