  1. Theres a strange dissconnect witg driving and car crashes. Normally the headline with a fatal car crash on the M1 is how big the traffic jam is.
  2. Thanks for the help members! Lol The links to buy tickets that we put up are indeed legit.
  3. I like theme parks. I like activites which involve drinking. I am delighted to finally be part of the target audience for a thing.
  4. Really? Because I kind of got the opposite impression. While I'm pleased that there might bot be a design flaw, here's the thing I think you're not getting: There's no way to tell who the dodgey operators are. What also appears to be true, is that ride safety on the traveling circuit appears to be a voluntary thing, if you want to go above and beyond and make your rides safe, you can, if you want to take chances with safety, apparently you can do that too. So long as the conditions that allow dodgey operators to exist are present, stuff like this will keep happening, and people will continue to not trust traveling rides.
  5. Village idiot would be a great name for those people who for some reason think everything Village do is amazing.
  6. Which is almost more than the speed limit on the M1
  7. Well I have but I expect I'm an extreme case. I agree that south of the park makes sense for development, theres only a couple of small plots available and they're currently overgrown and inaccessible to the piblic anyway, not the sort of thing people would miss. Also wonder if you could build a cruise ship terminal west of SW's carpark and have a dining entertainment area shared by the CST and Sea World? Just throwing ideas out there that would get a CST built while avoiding most of the controversy. Another thing that struck me from the announcement yesterday was when Anna goes 'we have a vision for the Spit; to let the community decide what to do with it' which to me kind of sounds like no vision at all.
  8. What a shame we'll never learn asf's plan for dealing with parking. I can kinda support the idea that the development is a bit big for the space, I can kind of buy the traffic would be too big an issue, but I cant get behind this horseshit about how important the land is. North of SW is the area which I can support should be upgraded into a big piss off parkland. Question on that, instead of the cruise ship terminal being built at the end of the spit or on the ocean side, why couldnt it be built south of SW?
  9. No more than has already been confirmed. Don't think their plans to add more stuff around MW is a secret.
  10. Glad it's not just me who thinks this. The ride will be awesome and no one goes on a coaster for the supports, but my god that first drop in it's incomplete state looks ugly.
  11. Yeah here's how the Kool-Aid goes: if someone heaps unnecessary praise on anything that doesn't warrant it, be it on a park, an attraction, a fellow member or even a website. For example, if someone posts a review about SW Carnivale saying how great and immersive an experience it is despite it being unanimously average at best, one may appropriately react with the Kool Aid button. Would just remind everyone not to use it to mock anyone who says something positive.
  12. I was wondering the same. Could it be the first broken car hit and damaged the second one?
  13. Does the floor lower and stay lowered? Did it in this instance? Like everyone I don't know what happened, there was speculation that's what it was floating around, all I was getting at is that regardless of what it ends up being it'll be interesting. I don't intend for my post to be stand up in court ay.
  14. Unlike IKEA furniture, these rides are designed to be pulled apart and put back together, so not a great example. Having said that one of the more horrific things you'll see. I'll be very interested to find out what's happened here, be it not assembled properly, faulty floor, poor upkeep, improper set up or improper operating standards.
  15. I agree with you, but I also think that the way they've gone about it is slightly arse backwards. The question is what does Dreamworld need to return to 'normal' trading. Reality is a new coaster would probably be enough to put it on a better footing. They aren't going to beat rivals on size, so something modest which takes the Australian record for most inversions in a year or so when Rivals is old news might well be enough to capture the public's attention. There are options around the $15million mark that would do the job that Dreamworld needs it to do. That sort of money isn't outrageous, particularly given the under investment the park has endured. So while I actually agree that the park doesn't NEED that land, I think selling off their future potential is short sighted. The only advantage to it is it's less risky, but it still reeks of not wanting to properly invest in the park.

That was a surprisingly rewarding pay off at the end. Always a good read. Agree with pretty much everything written about the ops of the park, though they have got their crap together a little bit in the past year. They're still neurotic but Green Lantern doesn't take quite as long to load so small victories.
  17. If you're reading touring plans from 2 different sites, I doubt we have anything to offer. The only advice I'd give (and this is general advice, it's not specific to you) is those plans are written by autistic teenagers who don't understand that you're actually at a park to have fun with people you love. It's not all about hitting attractions in the most efficient way possible, particularly with family or kids in tow. Be open to going with the flow at times even if it means missing something. You want happy memories not memories about fighting and kids not eating now because we have to get a spot an hour early for the parade on the left side of the plaza because it means you get to see the floats for a little longer. A combination of a solid game plan and being open to the needs of your group is key. Don't forget to have fun!
  18. The fact that they're knackered aside, wouldn't it be funny if they ended up going to different parks.
  19. The thing about Pure Imagination campaign is you need to remember the broader context. It was their first time advertising since October, they needed to have a campaign to get their name out in a positive way that was super inoffensive. For me it was a tentative breaking of the ice. As for this ad, it really is a total nothing. There's nothing engaging about it, took me about 4 or 5 times watching it before I read the offer at the end. Seeing how it's the same ad they were running before with different audio, it's purpose is clearly to just be a fun, quick, and cheap as shit way to get their name out there.
  20. Would I sell it? No I love the park and want to ensure its survival. Does it make financial sense in the short to mid term to sell it? Probably.
  21. At least it's not a Village Roadshow Theme Parks logo
  22. No one (sensible) is saying use TRRR's layout, rather remove TRRR, flatten that whole area and use that land for a well executed relocated vintage cars. That ride taking up a large piece of visable real estate seems like a very cost effective way of making the park feel more open and give a bit of kenetic energy to the area, which would give the park a chance to add something new without that whole area hanging over their heads.
  23. Was going to offer in depth thoughts, but I'll just sum it up buy saying Pixar Pier sounds shit, rest is either solid or awesome.
  24. No to IP stuff. Not everything needs to be a franchise. Below is a video of the sort of show SW should be doing - it's a mix of technologies. Not that I said the sort of show - they shouldn't do exactly this, it's included as a showcase for some of the things you can do. So for example Idon't think you need to have such a massive fountain install taking up the whole lake, but more modest barges floated in and parked close to the audience as well as one closer to the island could work rather well. Base it off various themes that Sea World has (So a segment on Pirates/castaways, a segment bringing a storm to life, a segment on Polar Bears, one on 'Monsters', one celebrating Dolphins etc.) with a big Finale tying it all back to Sea World. There are so many possibilities with the technology avalible. I think so long as you don't have a show with prolonged periods of nothing (as is surprisingly common with night shows) you could do something really special with that venue.
  25. I agree the lake is under utilised. It's a big stage so you a really big show to fill the space. That's what I think good shows have in common, they're big shows in small spaces. That's why Pirates Unleashed was such a failure, it was a tiny show on a massive stage. Same is true for HSD V Police Academy, PA had more stuff going on crammed into a smaller space, so the show felt bigger. I think that's why the Ski Show works, it's a show that takes up the whole lake and only just fits in the space. Jet Stunt Extreme does a better job of filling the lake but it's not really a show, rather it's an extreme sports demonstration. What I think they need is either improve JSE or go back to basics and put in either a classic Ski Show or a big new Stunt Show, as well as using the lake for a night time spectacular. There's no reason you can't do both, and with such a big venue so close to the entrance it's ideally suited to a big night show. Fountains would work fine as an element of a night show, but it shouldn't get in the way of the day show.
