Correct but mention a rollercoaster or thrill ride to general public and they question the safety of it. I would say they will stay away from a new Thrill Attraction until they have been able to recover more and remove the old ride and the legal side of things has ended. Once all of that is done they could build a thrill ride with minimal referenced to the incident to stain their reputation further.

I do like the idea of a special effects "show" like the ones i saw recently at USS and USJ, particularly USJ, because fire and explosions. My biggest issue is they were tied to movies and that could become dated really quickly, as would just effects in general, unless they are updated even with minor adjustments every year or 2. But we have seen how well MW looks after effects on other rides right...

Such as the actual rides could be insured by a different company to the liability. Finally since this could possibly have such a large payout, the insurer may also have to dip into their re-insurance plan.

You have to remember we have an interest in theme parks / rides / attractions so things related to that will stand out more. I remember ~3 years ago after the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down, any aircraft incident was reported on and a little note at the end mentioning recent plane crashes. News.com.au has always done this, previously Ride Incidents were the hot topic and it was a proper Media Beatup. Although that has died down now the whole little note thing will pretty much be there for quite a while.

It would normally be a weekday as more reporters/media are available. With an official announcement I'm sure they would want a 2min fluff piece on local news ect. I'd say it would be Tuesday or Thursday announcement in the morning around 9 or 10.
