  1. With most people back at work on Monday and the weather beautiful, it’s no surprise the parks are packed today. MW carpark full and grass overly being used. WnW took 20+ mins to find a park with all car parks and overflow full.
  2. But the entire thread is irrelevant if it’s been discussed elsewhere already.
  3. Sign looks far too new to have ever had TRR on it...
  4. Great Scott! 4.5 year bump!
  5. Firstly - that’s a carpet python and not venomous.. and I specifically said for venomous snakes. I also said, that I’m not saying no one is trained there, but not every wildlife handler is a qualified snake catcher, and I know they do outsource. Tony Harrison of Gold Coast Snake Catching & Relocation is there regularly - feel free to give him a call and ask...
  6. The people from corroboree are not professional handlers of venomous snakes. Not saying no one there is trained, but the park doesn’t keep any venomous breeds, and I know for a fact they outsource to a local guy
  7. The park will really struggle to absorb those extra 80 people per hour.....
  8. There are snakes everywhere, and the GC parks are well adept at dealing with them, with local snake catchers on priority for their calls.
  9. Because it will take half an hour once the ride queues are closed to get everyone through, and then to move people out of the park.. no different to what happens now at night events where rides close 30-60mins prior to park closure
  10. So because the ride doesn’t suit your child, it’s irrelevant in the grand scheme of things as a DW asset? Sky Voyager* will be an attraction 95% of people will be capable of riding, and if they have executed it as promised, it will be well received by the majority of the market. DCR is the best ride on the coast by far, but it’s market demographic is much smaller than that of Sky Voyager*. Both groups of parks have faults, and no one is doubting DW is well behind in the game, but Sky Voyager* is the best type of attraction for them right now - large target demographic, unique to the park, easy to market, no perceived risk factors. *yeah I had skyrider there first...
  11. What pointless additional restraints were added to Buzzsaw? All I am aware of was a physical belt locking in the lap bar, which was instigated after a safety concern
  12. Super funny when the people making up the bogus “reviews” then like the post saying “we’ve deleted the bogus reviews and you’re full of BS”.
  13. The actual Wiggles go to Dreamworld twice a year for the concerts. The wiggles based characters are no different to seeing batman or spongebob at a VTP park
  14. Staff could very certainly have entered the actual internal ride area for training without going near the external works that were under construction. I would imagine training would be well underway unless opening is still a couple of weeks away
  15. Beyond cautious at WnW today. They closed every pool and slide about 10mins ago due to potential storms despite nothing even on track for the northern gc on the weather maps
  16. But Skyvoyager doesn’t have road frontage or scale that allows it to be seen from outside the park...
  17. Safety is our No.1 priority,’ new Dreamworld chief DECEMBER 06, 2018 DREAMWORLD’S new boss will “bring back the wow factor” along with airline-style safety as part of a $40 million makeover to return the theme park to its former glory. Speaking exclusively to The Courier-Mail, new chief executive officer John Osborne said the 2016 Thunder River Rapids tragedy reduced him to tears. The park’s owner, Ardent Leisure, has been under siege since the 2016 tragedy and the harrowing coronial inquest that followed. Mr Osborne, the former head of hotel and resort chains over a 25-year career in the tourism industry, said he already had high hopes for Dreamworld’s ability to return to the glory years he remembered as a frequent visitor over the past 30 years. A new state-of-the-art flying theatre simulator ride will open within weeks as part of a $40 million expansion designed to bring back crowds. New Dreamworld CEO John Osborne has high hopes for Dreamworld’s ability to return to the glory years he remembered as a frequent visitor over the past 30 years. Picture: Nigel Hallett He said his personal affinity with the park meant the accident in which Kate Goodchild, Luke Dorsett, Roozi Araghi and Cindy Low were killed reduced him to tears. “I, like I guess everybody else in Australia, shed a tear when I saw it on television on the evening news,” he said. “Some of the great times we had as a young family were here … I always thought it was the biggest and the best theme park in Australia. “I was thinking of the families (of the victims) and of the first responders and what a terrible tragedy it was.” He said he also felt compelled to help – an opportunity which eventually came knocking, replacing acting chief executive Nicole Noye, who had filled the role since the shock departure of long-term boss Craig Davidson in July. A panel of workplace health and safety experts has proposed sweeping changes to theme park safety during the final days of the inquest into the Dreamworld ride tragedy. Four people were killed in October, 2016, when the Thunder River Rapids ride malfunctioned at the Gold Coast theme park. The inquiry is in its fourth round of hearings and is expected to conclude on Friday. Image: News Corp Australia Mr Osborne, who quietly started his new role just over a month ago, said he had great faith that Dreamworld could reverse its fortunes. “I pick up the vibe that everybody that I have spoken to really wants to see Dreamworld recover,” he said. He said winning over the public with Dreamworld’s safety standards and bringing back “the wow factor” would be key elements to the revival. “Safety is obviously the No.1 thing – that is our No.1 priority,” he said. “We need to demonstrate to the public that Dreamworld is an extremely safe place.” Dreamworld has already moved to raise standards, looking to the aviation industry for inspiration. “Aviation is considered by most people to be the benchmark for safety and I think there is a lot of similarities with what we do here,” said Mr Osborne. “We are adopting many of the things that the aviation industry does in terms of safety.” Geoff Sartori, a former safety adviser at Qantas, has been appointed as an independent external safety adviser. Mr Osborne said millions of dollars were also being spent on a revamp. In addition to the new flying theatre, a concept all the rage in other parts of the world, a massive expansion is under way at neighbouring WhiteWater World which will add a tropical oasis-themed precinct featuring rides, beaches, a river system and wildlife-watching.
  18. The boom has functioned that way since I can remember. It is not really that big of an issue. It’s 3-4 mins max every what - 40mins? How do you invisage they stop the birds from shitting on the slides? Establish a no fly zone over the park? I reckon if you ask the maintenance manager or chief engineer about it, they’ll tell you the love the bird shit on rides as it gives them good luck!
  19. It’s not MW’s responsibility that motorists can’t forward plan and stupidly stack back onto the M1 Helensvale north exit, when they could easily get off before at Oxenford or after at Helensvale South and access the entry via Entertainment rd in under 5 mins (I do this every year). MW is also not to blame for the ridiculous road network that hasn’t been upgraded in 20 years despite the northern Gold Coast having a 1000% population increase in those 2 decades
  20. Oh Push... I fanatically support a team that hasn’t won a premiership since I was 1 year old and didn’t even know what a footy is, and I spend as much time on their forum as I do here. Guess I’m a sucker for underperforming entities... in all honesty I’ve had annual passes to every GC theme park for a decade, so my “support” really can’t be questioned, I’m just honest about the times we are currently in - I hope I live to see our parks come out the other side & deliver on their potential
  21. For anyone interested, VTP now offers afterpay for payment of annual passes, day passes, experiences, fast passes and the online food deals etc. Pretty much anything except SW helicopters
  22. 1. Well maybe the guest should use the 2 ears he was given... the warning bell is damn loud well prior to the boom coming down 2. Why is it out of place? As long as it is utilised properly I think it’s a great location
