  1. Haha you say that like Ardent is so much more trustworthy or reliable than VTP.. Confirmed it to who? A market research panel? If you are saying you have some inside info, well ok, but to say you know what their finals plans are because you did some market research is straight up nuts
  2. ?? ?? we’re humans, probably best to use words..
  3. Lol.. I was paid $50 by VTP to sit with a group of people and discuss and vote on the preferred design and theming of Wild for Seaworld, and unless there is some Gorillas and Hippos hiding somewhere, it meant nothing. Pretty sure the majority of the long term posters here were part of ‘Future of Fun’ which alludes towards many attractions that became non-events including a Doomsday tower within the footprint of SE..
  4. Beavers, who will soon be on display along the course of the lazy river..
  5. Tbh.. I don’t even know what the entry price is. If it was about $20-$25 I’d probably say it would be worth if for a visit a year type of thing
  6. Such a festive Christmasy entrance sign...
  7. It was 3 weekends ago when I was there - it’s on 2 or 3 times a day with the times posted at each station
  8. Don’t mind it at all, apart from the stupid walk just to get to the entry. I do agree shelter/Shade can be hard to come by, but the shows are decent, there are some added extras like damper and billy tea tasting etc. I get access with my pass and take my son probably 2-3 times a year, I probably wouldn’t pay to just visit there if I didn’t have a pass - though the Shaun the Sheep attraction and waterplay is obviously aimed at increasing their local attendance and probably will be successful in doing so
  9. Have to say I’ve never been, despite living on the GC for 13 years. I’ve always had a small interest, but not enough to commit to tickets. I have to say however after seeing the promo for the new show with the projection mapping effects, it now looks like something really special and unique, not just (insert generic Australiana themed stock horse show here) on steroids...
  10. The best strategy is not to kill people on your rides
  11. So apparently it’s an “Adventure precinct” which is then explained to be cabanas over the water which will no doubt be an upcharge, and covered seating. Oh boy I can’t wait!
  12. Here Is a great article by the GCB that tells us absolutely nothing.. $15mil expansion announced for Dreamworld’s WhiteWater World water park NOVEMBER 27, 2018 Developers are already digging out the foundations for the new attraction, which looks set to expand onto vacant land behind WhiteWater World. Dreamworld's Project Manager Holly Evans says work has already begun on their latest attraction. Photo: Supplied Organisers say the development will take guests to a “tropical oasis” with a combination of features “never before seen in similar attractions around the world”. Dreamworld CEO John Osborne said the work wouldn’t stop guests from visiting the water park during its 12-month build. “The park will operate as normal during the construction of the new attraction and won’t have any impact on existing attractions at Dreamworld or WhiteWater World,” he said. It’s a big step for new Project Manager Holly Evans, and one which makes her the youngest in her team of six at just 27 years old. “This is such a rewarding role because I get to use my engineering and project management skills as well as utilising my creative flare,” she said. “Our projects create enjoyment and happiness for our guests and I find that very rewarding.” The expansion joins the soon so open flying theatre “Sky Voyager” as the latest developments for Dreamworld’s parks. More details on the new attraction will be available early next year.
  13. Yet to see anyone have any issues when serving me, but I don’t work for maccas so am not on the coalface. In saying that Maccas is renowned for their systems and getting things right from efficiency standpoints, so I have no doubt they would have had significant testing before a large scale rollout
  14. The new frozen machines at McDonald’s that can do up to 36 flavour combos are cool, whilst not unique even that would be a good idea for the park
  15. Forward planning isn’t exactly their strong suit.. “take the easy option now and deal with it later if need be” seems to the the motto
  16. Asked Bikash today why they opted for a travelling/temporary version vs a permanent installation, and his response (paraphrasing) was that if it is received well it may lead to a permanent version “bigger than anything you’ve seen before”
  17. I did too, but clearly not if they did nothing about a ride that was modified without permission notification in the “late 80s” and was still operating in what WHSQ say was unsafe in 2016! Did they never inspect it for over 25 years?
  18. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland’s chief safety engineer Michael Chan told Coroner James McDougall the industry regulator had never received any notification from Dreamworld about any modifications as part of the design registration process. The ride’s design was first registered in August 1987, but the ride was modified many times in the years that followed. Crucially, at some time in the late 1980s, two out of every three slats on the conveyor belt were removed, which Mr Tan said made the ride ‘even more hazardous’. “You have introduced a hazard ... that alteration should have been notified,” he said. ————————————————————— surely since the “late 1980s” someone from WHS actually visited the park and said “you didn’t notify us of this, it’s not safe, fix it? ————————————————————— Dreamworld executives asked Workplace Health and Safety Queensland to exempt them from engaging professional ride registration engineers just months before the Thunder River Rapids tragedy, an inquest has been told. WHSQ’s chief safety engineer Michael Chan said he met with Dreamworld department heads in August 2016 where they proposed bypassing legal registration requirements because the park ‘has implemented an effective in-house maintenance and inspection system’. Mr Chan refused the request, explaining it was a legal requirement to engage “a suitably qualified and experienced person” to perform an annual inspection. “(It’s not the case that) just because you have a system in place you’re good to go,” he said. ——————————————————————— anyone associated with that “request” should be banned from being involved with theme parks for the rest of their lives.. if it wasn’t so ridiculous and concerning it would be laughable
  19. I kinda wish DW had a better snake exhibit. They have a couple of pythons, nothing interesting at all really
  20. 1st half of FY19 is literally right now...
  21. Yep... the media is only interested in it if it’s shocking, drama filled or controversial. I think all those descriptions are pretty much maxed out to the point when hearing “it’s pretty obvious the ride was a death trap just waiting to happen and nothing was done about it despite it appearing that everyone was aware of this fact” no longer even raises an eyebrow...
  22. A LEADING safety inspector has told an inquest he could have written dozens of improvement notices for the doomed Thunder River Rapids ride if it had continued to operate after the 2016 tragedy. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland’s principal inspector Ian Stewart wrote a prohibition notice for the ride during his investigation into the tragedy. However, he said he discovered so many concerns he could have written at least 80 improvement notices if the ride had still been operating. The ride was shut down after the accident and never operated again. He also said he had “no confidence at all in what Dreamworld had in place to save lives” if people fell in to the water on the ride.
  23. Because they will only be at the park 1 day in the next 3 years, so a season pass makes no sense but they want to experience everything in there one day? i doubt more than 10-20% of fast pass sales are locals/pass holders. I’d never buy one at $100, I’ll just come back again tomorrow when it’s quieter. If it was $50, hey why not, my burger meal at lunch costs half of that... Don’t think FP is designed for regular attendees, but the once a year, once every few years visitors
