  1. Not sure if it's been brought up elsewhere (apologies if it has) but anyone notice the new VIP locals passes don't include a Fright Nights ticket anymore - only White Xmas & Carnivale. Maybe an attempt to cut non-paying crowds down, though the hopeful part in me wishes they will in the future set an age restriction of 15+ and bring some increased scares & gore. That will be a lot easier to do when FN tickets are no longer included in standard VIP passes which are taken up by many kids/families
  2. If so why not make it 6pm so you might encourage some families after school/work as with the Dc parade? im assuming its just the normal star parade which is by no means a must see.
  3. Hey Balls, you'll find people will update photos as soon as possible after taking them, so generally if there is no updated pics or posts it's because no one has got out there for an update since the last time, or there is little or no progress worth updating
  4. Strange timing. Competing with the Ekka? Really it's only an extra 20mins of operating time
  5. Terrible photo I know but that's what you get from a moving car on your phone on the M1. Billboard updated. Another 'imagination' theme. Not sure why you'd want to buy annual passes if the mission is accomplished already but oh well, imagination.. seems the cheap passes will be around for quite a while
  6. It was mentioned in an internal staff memo that got leaked out publicly. It's floating around in a thread somewhere
  7. Storm at 110cm is not a family friendly height restriction. Whilst my son has cracked that mark, there is no way I'm convincing a 4 year old to go on a ride that appears daunting in its scale and theming. TBH I wouldn't even try to convince him to go on it, even though he could as it would be too intense for him and likely stunt his ride comfort development (much the same as I haven't taken him on SDSC even though he is height-wise ok to ride. For the 9,999,000th time, there is zero chance of Disney purchasing DW, and only a miniscul more likely chance of them opening a theme park in Australia in the next couple of decades, if ever. I think a Dreamworks IP dark family ride would absolutely breathe life into DW, something along the vein of LTRR. Theme it to Shrek, or a collaboration of characters. Im not sure of the terms of the Dreamworks license though regarding further additions and whether the license is all encompassing for future attractions or a cost per attraction, and what that cost would be. All I know is they need a big ticket item to bring crowds and families back - and that's not "hey look at our cool new* Log Ride & Vintage Cars.
  8. Flogged overnight... off to Bargain Mania
  9. You can be thankful for having rides and critical of poorly executed ones. Life doesn't work on the basis that you have to like everything you have...
  10. Yep... Evil Bong maze... sure
  11. If it was just me I was taking into account it probably wouldn't have hit home so much, but where it got me was that I had taken my son on that ride multiple times from his 2nd Birthday onwards (he was 4 when the incident happened) because to me, it was a "well nothing can go wrong on the Rapids" attitude. My partner is not a theme park/ride person and has always been hesitant about my son going on rides, and i've always pre-empted her concern by "I only take him on mild safe rides" i.e. TRR, LR, ABC4Kids. For me it was the whole how the f**k would I have lived with myself if he'd been on that ride that day. He can't make decisions around his safety or choices, I make them. I took flowers down to the memorial a few days later, moreso out of respect and acknowledgement of the victims families/friends. They were all from interstate and on holidays, it was not like their loved ones could easily go down and contribute to the memorial, so I felt inclined to do that.
  12. As I mentioned earlier, Wanda is getting largely of the theme park business, they certainly won't be opening a theme park here
  13. i don't think it's an issue of cheaper... it would have been cheaper to put it up now while the crane was on site.
  14. Just drove past. Large crane is gone. Joker face is MIA
  15. Drive past it on the commute daily and I've seen it like that 4 or 5 times before. I've never ever seen a blank board. What you are seeing is remnants of multiple strips of old billboards.
  16. Dunno if you are Serious or joking, but that's just the backing of the billboard. It's always exposed for a day or two when they are changing the boards over. It's not a criptic message or some artsy fartsy marketing campaign
  17. Not particularly. The sooner our Parks become activity/precinct hubs outside their regular operating hours and start generating additional revenue streams, the sooner we'll see increased capital expenditure in response to the increased visitor numbers and avg. spend. I think Top Golf is going to be a massive success for VTP.
  18. But are workcover physically sending out engineers to check the physical ride over once a year, or are they simply auditing the books/records provided by the company?? What failsafe checks are being run to ensure the books and records are not doctored? for the large majority of the population, motor vehicle travel is essential to life, so any real or perceived risks associated with that travel have to be accepted to live a normal life. Plenty of people shy away from overseas travel due to a fear of flying, because overseas travel isn't essential, so if an individual can't rationale the risk vs reward they won't fly. Going on a ride is certainly not essential, When I analyse the risk vs reward for a travelling ride, there is no reward worth the risk. I'd sooner jump on a plane overseas than go on a travelling ride. But hey, that's just me..
  19. Yeah, jumping the gun, I know. Probably because I'm firmly in the "carnival rides are not as safe or thoroughly regulated" camp. I know that's not a popular opinion on here, but that's where I stand...
  20. Excessive corrosion isn't fast onset... maintenance checks & standards therefore lacking or non-existent
  21. I'd say we'll have a Joker face shortly, crane is up and running, multiple people at top of lift hill
  22. Who goes trespassing in a button up shirt? What a novice... Tshirt & a Baseball cap as a minimum. Damn rookie... Is that David Klemmer?
  23. With the studios being handed over to the government in January in preparation for the Games, i don't think there is any major productions heading in after Aquaman raps at the end of Sept
