Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
Nostalgia does not mean wanting something you can't have... Nostalgia is a feeling/emotion, evoked by memories of a prior time or experience. My neighbour has a 80" flat screen, mine is 65", which is more than suitable for my needs, but regardless, I want his, even though I can't afford it. That isn't nostalgia, that's me wanting what I can't have.

Eureka Mountain Mine Ride reopening discussion
A cart of gold would be a fairly standard logo for a area called 'gold rush county'. Think you are looking too far into things... As for the overwhelming appeal/push for Its re-opening, it's the basic human psyche to want something you can't have. If it wasn't still there, no one would want it or mention it

'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP
universal owns the theme parks rights to the potter series. It's also a little, past it, now. I know they are bringing out a new series in the same 'world' but i think the Potter boat has sailed. i personally don't think we're seeing a woodie. Not based on any inside knowledge, it just doesn't seem the road MW would go down. I'm open to be pleasantly surprised. I also don't think we'll see a 'best in the world ride'. I think 'worlds best' was likely a throw away statement to say "we're building a great attraction", and I'm delivering our results today so this will create some hype. Maybe "amongst the best in the world" was probably along the lines he meant, with "best" being fairly ambiguous and open to personal interpretation.

'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP
generally get more applications when you go by the site address (entertainment road, seaworld drive, Foxwell rd/Dreamworld parkway) as opposed to VRTP. pretty sure it was to make way for the Brock Experience

'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP
I hope and am sure it Will have a movie/themed tie in, though likely not of the level you are wanting. a walk through? No walk through is going to be 'world best' unless they are paying Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill to literally fight daily in a full size replica Wayne Manor as you walk by. We've from the GC planning site that it has been lodged as a coaster of some sort. Reported in the GC bulletin as I posted originally

'World Best' Attraction coming to VRTP
Village Roadshow to open “one of the world’s best” theme park attractions on the Coast Village Roadshow says the Gold Coast is about to get “one of the world’s best” theme park attractions. VILLAGE Roadshow is about to launch a new Gold Coast theme park attraction it boasts will be “one of the world’s best”. Village Roadshow co-chairman Robert Kirby said the new attraction would allow the group to maintain its position as the “premier theme park operator”. “We continue to invest in our theme parks, constantly refreshing our special events and attractions to ensure we maintain our premium position and give people a new reason to visit,” Mr Kirby told shareholders at the groups annual meeting yesterday. Movie World. Picture: David Clark “In the coming months, we will be announcing an exciting new attraction for the Gold Coast which we expect will be one of the world’s best theme park drawcards.” Village, owner of Movie World, Sea World and Wet’n’Wild, said attendances are up at its Gold Coast theme parks, with FY16 first quarter admissions higher than the same time last year. Mr Kirby said a new membership program and existing annual pass program saw solid sales in the first quarter. The opening of Sea World’s new Creatures of the Deep exhibit and Nickelodeon Land children’s area has been well received and Sea World’s new conference centre is exceeding expectations. Village is also committed to boosting its presence in Asia, last week entering into a memorandum of understanding to open a Wet`n’Wild in Hainan, China in late 2016 in conjunction with partner CITIC. The first theme park project is likely to be a Hollywood branded Movie Park in Chengdu. VRL is also in discussions with developers in Asia to roll out indoor theme parks, called Big Boxes, in major shopping centres. James Bond and Han Solo also have Village Roadshow expecting a bumper 2016. The group’s Australian cinema business is outperforming expectations so far this financial year, with admissions up and moviegoers spending more at the flicks. Mr Kirby says business had been “outstanding” for the new James Bond blockbuster Spectre, with the much-anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens due for release in December. Next year’s line-up also looks strong, with Batman vs Superman, Captain America, and Finding Dory, the sequel to the hit animated flick Finding Nemo, due to hit screens. “We are anticipating a strong 2016 financial year in cinema exhibition,” he said. Village Roadshow recorded its best cinema sales ever last year, helped by the success of the Imitation Game, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Jurassic World. Premium movie-going experiences including Gold Class and Vmax, as well as more candy bar options, such as hot food, have helped draw in bigger audiences. But while the company’s cinema business is firing, its film distribution arm, Roadshow, has had a disappointing first quarter. Roadshow’s full year result is likely to be below that of 2014/15 because of the ongoing decline in the DVD market. To help offset that, Village is enhancing its digital options by entering into agreements with streaming services Netflix, Stan and Presto. VRL shares closed 1¢ lower at $7.21.

L.A. or Orlando?
And if you are only staying at Disney/CA for half a day you can't even really take much advantage from fast pass as you won't be around later, meaning more queueing. First visit, I'd say a 3 day park hopper is the minimum needed to experience it without returning home thinking "I was there and can't believe I missed ......"

L.A. or Orlando?
It's almost impossible to do Disneyland in a day, let alone CA and Knotts as well. Unless your plan is 2-3 rides max at each, and skip all the shows/sights, in which case it barely seems worth it.. Not for over $US200.

Quite a while I believe, I think they brought the multi-world day price in line with the DW only price so it became redundant

Wanda Group to build theme park on Gold Coast?
I don't think the red tape will matter too much providing the Qld govt & GC council are fully supportive of the proposal and the $$$ that would flow into the economy (and pockets) and the employment aspect. I'm sure any potential deal would be contingent upon tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars being spent by the developer to improve infrastructure in the region, money they then don't have to spend

Wanda Group to build theme park on Gold Coast?
the land opposite Dreamworld? Which opposite? dreamworld is boarded by the M1 Motorway to the west, the school and housing estates to the south, sporting fields which are being developed into Commonwealth Games venues to the partial east (with the remainder zoned as a conservation zone to offset the Town Centre on the Coomera Masterplan), and the land to the north is about it be cleared for the Town Centre.

Photo: AFP/Greg Baker CHINA’S richest man is poised to build a major theme park on the Gold Coast expected to rival Dreamworld and Movie World. Wang Jianlin’s Chinese conglomerate, the Wanda Group, is negotiating with the State Government to obtain land at Coomera to build the multi-billion-dollar attraction. Speaking exclusively to the Gold Coast Bulletin, Wanda Group general manager Xie Hong said theme parks were a primary focus of the company’s international plans and the Gold Coast was the perfect location. "Wanda in Australia has already acquired the biggest cinema company in the country and theme parks are one of the things Wanda wants to invest in in the future,” Mr Xie said.“It is Wanda’s intention to set a theme park up on the Gold Coast but this major project is still under negotiation with the State Government.” The plan has the backing of city leaders, with Coomera MP Michael Crandon saying there was “an abundance of land in Coomera which lends itself to theme park development. The more development of this scale we can attract to the northern Gold Coast the better. “I would bet the other theme parks in the area will want this because it will bring more people into the area.” Visitors ride on a roller coaster ride at Xishuangbanna Resort in Yunnan, China. Mr Xie declined to say whether the park would have a Disney theme but the household name is aggressively pushing into China where more than 59 luxury theme parks have been proposed. The Wanda Group recently forked out $2.5 billion on a theme park and resort in Yunnan, southwest China, which features dozens of elaborate roller-coasters and world-class hotels over a massive 5.3 square kilometres block. The Wanda Xishuangbanna International Resort can hold up to 5 million people a year across three five-star hotels and numerous apartment complexes while Wanda has predicted more than 200 million people will visit their tourism parks in the next five years. Mr Xie also spent around $936 million building a movie theatre in Wuhan for a musical and acrobatic production. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk travelled to Beijing with a trade mission in October to meet with Mr Xie and reportedly promised to work with him in Queensland. Wanda has already invested significantly in the Gold Coast market, including the $1 billion Jewel project in Surfers Paradise and helping fund direct flights through Jetstar from Wuhan to the Gold Coast. While Wanda is planning a series of major projects across Australia, including Sydney and Melbourne, Mr Xie said the Gold Coast was their business priority. “Now that we have entered the Gold Coast market with direct flights we are planning to increase our offerings,” he told the Bulletin in Wuhan.“Right now we are offering low to middle-range products but we want to launch a luxury service. “We are doing projects all over Australia but the Gold Coast is our marketing priority.” Tourism Minister Kate Jones said she would head to China next week “I will be travelling to Yunnan Province to inspect the Wanda Resort and Theme Park,” she said.

A dirty smelly river? Sounds like the majority of stagnant rivers that have little runoff or flow anywhere in the world.

What rides/slides would your ultimate amusement park comprise of?
So a theme park with 42 rides and 22 slides. so when you said 'if you had the money' what you meant was 'if you had UNLIMITED FUNDS'. to build a park with ALL of those attractions is probably even beyond Disney (not financially, but even in the most remote of possibilities). You would also need a small country to accommodate the required land and infrastructure. And here I was thinking you were talking about a 'realistic' park. My idea would be park that consists of only 1 attraction: * 100 teleportation machines, all of which take you to the queue line of the top 100 rides/slides around the world. That way I'd never have to leave Australia to ride the worlds best.

Movie World speculation and dreaming - 2015 edition
If it is indeed superman, I'm surprised they would be looking for someone to play a character in their early-mid 20s. Superman is in the cinema universe is generally represented as being in his early-mid 30s
