  1. Didn't think the BIG thing came in during Thunderbolts lifetime..
  2. Without doubt IF it re-opens they'll consider it part of the 'BIG' group. I'm surprised they didnt count TOT twice for its two incarnations
  3. Pretty fair assumption we won't see any BB this year
  4. The DW guy was up on stage on his own for an hour trying to keep people entertained. He didn't have many entertaining qualities so relied on the piece of paper he had which had a script on it for Screamworld & an Easter holiday animal thing
  5. Yeah it's changing back for the Screamworlds in April. Was announced in park today at Wiggles concert
  6. Can certainly relate to that. Hoping to take my little dude when he hits 6 or 7 which is the same age I was my first visit
  7. Agree with everyones sentiments here, and yes it certainly is a personal thing. For me, i would consider 'in time' Superman Escape to be a classic as it was the first of its kind coaster in Australia (launching coaster) and in terms of speed. It was also the first ride i remember being marketed well in the internet age with its own website that really got people talking and a buzz/viral campaign behind it. Personally with more thought i would probably include Snowy River Rampage as a classic ride, not because it was particularly unique, but because it holds such vivid memories for me and will always be the basis point for which i judge other 'tyre' based water rides.
  8. Unique, has character, lasting appeal, iconic. I guess you could answer it by saying, if tomorrow every theme park in Australia closed down, in 20 years time what rides would sprint to memory when thinking of your youth/past. For me, classic Australian rides would be: The Bush Beast, Boomerang, Bermuda, Looney Toons River Ride, and Thunderbolt. The only current rides that I'd consider to be 'classics' if still operational in 20 years would be Superman, TOT, Wild West Falls, Wipeout & at a stretch, Scooby
  9. All good ideas, the pit stop tyre change would never get off the ground due to health & safety. Lifting a wheel in itself could cause injury let alone the rattle gun. Unfortunately in today's world it just couldnt happen
  10. Well technically it could be the first. At this stage any idea of a revamped Mine ride is pure speculation.
  11. I'm taking a stab on April 1, when the gates will open, everyone will board, and then just before leaving the station they'll say "April Fools" and close the ride for another 2 months
  12. It would.. And no doubt the re-vamped mine ride would be one of the 'new' BIG attractions. But you wouldn't think there would be much change from $6m for the 2nd BIG attraction whatever that may be.
  13. $6m would not even cover 2 decent attractions, let alone all that.
  14. The Transformers ride at Universal cost about the same as every ride in MW costs combined. (Ok slight exaggeration).
  15. They have been renovating/updating their F&B offerings so it would make sense to look at the out dated ice-creamery next. $6m isn't a lot for 2 BIG attractions, but who knows.
  16. Haha. They should so play a looped track of screams through the maintain randomly throughout the day.
  17. they are loving the social media chatter
  18. I call absolute BS on you sitting in the station for 30mins waiting to get 20 people to want to go on the ride. I was at the park on Sunday and whilst it wasn't 'packed' it certainly was a fairly busy day. Overemphasising much??
  19. We made it to the 2nd story top story on the GCBulletin website! Theme park retro ride rumoured to return to the Gold Coasts doyenne of theme parks, Dreamworld Dreamworld could be about to bring back and old favourite. FANS of 1990s Gold Coast theme park rides could be in for a nostalgic treat. Online rumours are growing that the doyenne of Coast theme parks Dreamworld could be about to revive one of its biggest attraction from days of yore the Eureka Mountain Mine Ride. According to theme park fan website Parkz.com.au, there are signs the venerable ride could be set to thrill park goers again. The site claims rejuvenation work on the classic rollercoaster-style ride has been spotted in recent weeks and that while the exterior of the ride has decayed the ride system itself remains in relatively good condition. Its a claim Dreamworld declined to confirm or deny, with a Dreamworld spokeswoman instead saying it was a very interesting rumour. We cant say that its true, she said. But we can say we have very fond memories of the ride. It was a particular favourite of mine as a kid. The ride was opened in 1986 and was closed more than eight years ago. http://m.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/theme-park-retro-ride-rumoured-to-return-to-the-gold-coasts-doyenne-of-theme-parks-dreamworld/story-fnj90t7b-1227222953748 We're famous! Hahaha
  20. Surely the time would have expired by now then? It's been what, 8 years? 90% of people who go on the ride wouldnt know Mick Doohan if he was in the queue next to them. He hasnt been relevant for half a decade.
  21. What's that thought based on? and how long is the contract then?
  22. Why not just play the damn movie?
  23. Surely that is minor and not worth a mention in a half yearly report ? New attraction as opposed to update/renewed/refreshed/upgraded tells me that the V8 attraction will have nothing to do with redline at all
