Not too sure when personal digs came into the conversation...whilst I have been here for years, I’m certainly not depressed nor do I think my commentary or posts on this forum are depressing...

Another day, another theme park hotel...
-
You must have a hell of a lot of expendable income. It’s not a themed resort, it’s a hotel in a carpark. You’d be in the strong minority of locals that would consider staying there Think this is specifically what they are targeting. MW has a massive c&e business, with events on most days and many nights each week, the hotel no doubt will be focused about keeping those multi day conferences on-site the entire time

That would be a negative I reckon

There will be no theme park that will be able to compete with us’: Movie World plans for a hotel Village Roadshow has reignited its plans for a hotel at Movie World, lodging a trademark application that reveals its likely branding for the nine-storey, 398-room landmark. VILLAGE Roadshow has reignited its plans for a hotel at Movie World, lodging a trademark application that reveals its likely branding for the nine-storey, 398-room landmark. IP Australia records show Village Roadshow applied for a trademark for “Hotel V” at the end of March. It is pending registration. Village Roadshow, which was delisted from the ASX last year after a takeover by private equity firm BGH, gained development approval for a hotel in 2017 for its 14ha site at Oxenford. Planning documents reveal the development will include 32m high, nine-floor “theme park hotel” with 398 suites which is earmarked for land currently occupied by its northernmost carpark fronting Entertainment Drive. The ground floor will house reception, a lobby, administration office, business centre, bar, function centre, cafe, kitchen, kids club, amenities, gym and hotel back-of-house facilities. Ramp access and an elevated walkway on level one is planned to provide guests connection to the adjoining restaurant and dining precinct building plus theme park entry. The project is also set to incorporate “extensive outdoor swimming facilities, outdoor guest recreation areas and feature landscaping plantings”. A three-storey restaurant and dining precinct building, including a ground-level cafe and upper-level restaurant is also a feature of the plan. “Guest access to the restaurant and dining precinct is provided via an elevated walkway above the proposed porte-cochere, which will provide a prominent architectural feature” planning documents lodged by Urbis said. Village Roadshow declined to comment on hotel progress, but chief operating officer Bikash Randhawa has been active on social media, hyping big upcoming reveals for the company: “I don’t do this often, but get ready for some HUGE announcements from us. There will be no theme park on the GC or in Australia that will be able to compete with us.” When someone posted a photo of a Harry Potter studio, Mr Randhawa replied: “That’s small with what will happen over time.” When another person suggested another theme park was coming to the Gold Coast, he said “over the next few announcements, better than that”. Mr Randhawa said “no way” when someone suggested a casino could be built at Movie World. The hotel will be Village Roadshow’s latest in a hefty pipeline of investments on the Gold Coast, which in recent years, have included the $35 million DC Rivals Hypercoaster, Top Golf and its $50 million Atlantis precinct at SeaWorld, which is expected to be completed in mid-late 2021. The news follows revelations last week that Dreamworld’s owner Ardent Leisure was also shopping for major new attractions as work continued on its $32 million flagship ride, the Steel Taipan. https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/business/gold-coast-business/there-will-be-no-theme-park-that-will-be-able-to-compete-with-us-movie-world-plans-for-a-hotel/news-story/e5e43e739e312105dd3e706f1fb8dfd0?fbclid=IwAR0M4MNR8C_L9V9cgSGI-xRjfcxlmRrGkbn-b1LwP_rUe5cSGHbUkMxRSXY

Dreamworld General Park Update - April 2021
Brad2912 replied to themagician's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Yet still leaps and bounds ahead of what MW offers... and a bigger range than SW. when all operational, Dreamworks has a fantastic array of options. Whilst no longer an area I frequent, a paint job, decent replacement for BRC and 2 more flats would fill that area out really well. -

Dronkeys is completely removed, save for what looks like some new arms that are still in packaging and painted white A solid amount of family/kids rides are out of action (Dronkeys, carousel, Madagascar, Shockwave, Sword Swing). though this large mould patch on the ceiling in the bathrooms is a new addition... -

When he says "Movies Worlds", is he implying they are building a second Movie World? They better get started quickly if thats the announcement, as I've seen no progress on this new theme park.... -

Welcome back.. Im more than willing of put my hand up and admit I am wrong if I indeed am, maybe my memory recall is going with my age, but I thought that happened. My apologies if I misrepresented something. That aside, any involvement from a senior park official is welcome and appreciated here. Even if the interaction is limited to hearing people’s experiences or suggestions and engaging in conversation, rather than some expectation of receiving privileged info or scoops, that is still positive imo... -

Some juicy stuff from Bikash. I hold hope that the announcements are as grand and exciting as he makes them out to be. I'll also contain any real excitement however as i remember him pumping up the new self-serve drinking stations as the greatest innovation ever seen despite being available all around the world for about 2 decades nope. -
Sweet, wasn’t aware of that.

Personally never heard of maintenance bays being shared given each ride has its own, I’d also imagine each maintenance bay is custom to the track for that ride. im no ride engineer but I would imagine the specs for track width etc would not be identical across different rides and manufacturers so essentially a train wouldn’t really connect to another maintenance bay? And with no transfer track they’d have to be craning them from one attraction to another as well...

and can’t spell “and” an?? Wtf...

I raised this in another thread recently. this appears to be a new thing, but not sure if they have put weigh plates in place (seems unlikely). I used to be much heavier than I am now and used to ride it with my son every visit, I’ve lost a bunch of weight but apparently not can’t ride it - though haven’t been there since this weight restriction appeared on their website

That’s beyond laughable and if a true reflection of the operation reality (and not a screw up on the app) then the park should not have been open/operational.

Best all time Australian Pre Ride Experience
Brad2912 replied to TimmyG's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Batman Adventure (original) was fantastic, immersive and I believe is really missed. The format would still work today with updated simulators, but obviously won’t happen. LTRR was also fantastic. When I think quality pre-ride, I don’t want just a video explaining a backstory, I want an interactive element or queue that takes you through something unique and exciting prior to you even boarding the ride -

Looney Tunes IP will explode with the younger market when Space Jam 2 releases in a couple months. I know the park has been planning/strategising on how to leverage cross promotion for many months -

Absolutely my take too, clearly nothing planned of any note for 2022.
