What is your definition of a young person? it was retired in 2003, and a kid would have had to have been let’s say 5 to comprehend and remember the name despite not having been able to ride it, so by that rationale you would have had to have been born pre-1998, which means you are now at least 22. You may call that person a young adult, but again, I think the 22 is even generous, more like 27-28 to have some type of positive connotation to that name/ride on top of having either lived on the coast, or holidayed here numerous times. All in all, I’m not arguing they don’t exist, but there would be very few that fall do (in my opinion).

I wasn’t being scientific, I was generalising. but I don’t Believe I would be far off. no one born post 2000 would have a single solitary idea about Thunderbolt unless they stumbled upon this forum on a boring school holiday and decided to ask dumb questions. Same rule applies to interstate and overseas visitors. Unless you are a theme park tragic, or grew up on the GC (which, let’s face it, is literally about 2% of the Current population as we are now nearly all Mexicans up here) then you don’t know that DW once had a coaster named thunderbolt.

Gees they missed an opportunity with the name. Everyone knows (especially the insta-fiends this area seems to have been created to appease) that It would have been so much Kooler if it was called “Kickback Kove”. its all about the K’s.

Hissteria is a stupid name, and shouldn’t be used anywhere that is predominantly marketed. The name of a dessert with lolly snakes at the ice creamery would be as far as I would go with such a name I’m not. I don’t think there is a need to live in the past. It’s holding onto nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake when 98% of park attendees would have zero idea of the relevance or ties to the name.

Depends on what viewpoint you are looking at it from. Kids - DW Young Family - DW Teens - MW Adults - if you like coasters - MW, if you don’t then DW ill pick MW on my preference alone, but that’s now what my theme park visitation is based on

To be honest it’s the better way to go. I’d rather that than be one of the guys who gets off at the last minute only to be hit by a stray wheel flying off Green Lantern when giving a tv interview outside the gates in the aftermath...

It may not be “close” but I don’t think it will be there in 5 years, and given the long lead time and high capex involved in theme park attractions, 5 years isn’t far away and would certainly fall within the current planning timeline

Agree the wheel could not be the sole replacement for HWSW as the footprint would be large enough for 2-3 attractions. Even if they chose to put a new coaster in there, with planning and design it would make for an even better accompaniment to the wheel.

When HWSW has its day (which surely can’t be too far away...) I think that general area would work well for a wheel giving great visuals over both Ocean Parade & WWW

If the current issue is stopping it from operating, which appears to be the case, and they want it to see out another 2 years they will not have a choice but to invest it in, or bring forward permanent closure

When you say once a week for 20 years it may not sound like a lot, but when you consider that once per week would be likely to only start once you reach an age of somewhat independence and are not relying on a parent to take you and make your own choices... so in this example let’s say - 14 years old. that would mean once a week between the ages of 14 and 34. Most people within that age range experience high school exams, tertiary study, holidays, relocation, full time jobs, serious relationships (and heaven forbid your partner isn’t a theme park addict), has children who then have their own commitments on weekends etc. Blow that out to once a fortnight, and that’s now 40 years to rack up 1000 visits, taking you to 54 years old (and assuming you only visit DW when you have an opportunity to go to a park and not MW etc) life gets in the way, no matter how much you love theme parks!

Guessing if I had girls they would have too. Thankfully my son is more interested in the DC stores at MW, which at least hold my interest too

I’m with everyone else, been a regular to DW for near on 15 years and have never been inside the fairy store. Do they only sell fairy stuff? Seems a niche demographic for such a large store. I also don’t know how busy it gets
